My Husband and I moved from Bklyn NY to Mahwah NJ 4 years ago. We were looking for a good " family owned" Italian restaurant in mahwah and surrounding areas. We found a gem in Da Nina located at 1 Lafayette Avenue in Suffern NY. WE went many times in 4 years. Great food, increible service. Yesterday we had reservations for my birthday. My Son and his family were in from NC to celebrate with us. It was his first time there. He LOVED IT. THANK YOU Da Nina for such an incredible place to enjoy old time charm. read more

Loved our meal here! Came here with family and it was a cozy, yummy Sunday evening meal. The pastas are on point! Really great flavor, well cooked, and delicious all around. Attentive service, even with a private party happening upstairs. Overall, really enjoyed our meal here and would love to come back soon. read more

Excellent Italian food in a friendly, relaxed environment with excellent service. My usual is the chicken Marsala.

Wow! Authentic Italian food for a fair price and located right in Suffern. This was my first time eating in and not getting takeout and just as delicious as my takeout has been. First off the bread they bring to the table is so soft and fresh I could've eaten the entire plate myself. The bread is paired with a delicious bruschetta. My gnocchi was delicious I opted for vodka sauce rather then Bolognese. So fresh and not super filling which was perfect. The vodka sauce was delicious and not heavy like most. The chicken francese was perfectly crisp and flavorful. Our server was super friendly and accommodating. We were fairly full but ordered a lava cake to share which was phenomenal. It was very nice of them to put our dessert on the house when we asked for the bill. I will definitely be back to Da Nina's cozy Italian restaurant. read more

So I'm traveling again but I'm eating in the restaurant I agree with the other yelpers it very old world Italian - staff are Italian speakers YAY. Lovely Italian bread served w Italian salsa!!! House chianti is lovely Staff is great very attentive, so the sauce is amazing and the eggplant thinly sliced and breaded to perfection. some of the best I've had. Nice portions of pasta and eggplant+ I've got lunch tomorrow read more

We thought we were going to have Mexican, with my grandson Jake, but it wasn't open. I am kind of glad that it wasn't! This was an amazing meal - probably on of the best I've had in a while (I mean, like in a restaurant!). We decided not to have appetizers - even though our waiter let us know it might be 15 minutes. We hadn't seen Jake in a while and chatted - while enjoying fabulous bread with bruschetta. We then went for me - chicken parm which was just right - the red sauce (chef's kiss!). Jake had the lasagna special and Wayne was delighted with the Veal Piccata that also had perfectly cooked vegetables as a side dish. I really wanted to take the leftovers back in the camper, but... We also then decided we needed dessert -I went for an Irish Coffee, Wayne a creme' brûlée and Jake a chocolate mouse. It was not just a wonderful meal, but a fabulous time to spend with family! Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was cozy - what could be better! read more

The food and service at this restaurant was impeccable, and it all takes place in a perfectly quaint setting inside as well as an outdoor seating area. The mozzarella roll stuffed with prosciutto, roasted red peppers, and basil was phenomenal. The Italian sausages were delicious and served in a homemade marinara with garlic, herbs, and spices. The veal saltimbocca was the best I've ever had. The tiramisu was also the best I've ever had. My friend got a veal chop that was cooked to perfection. Capped off the meal with an old fashioned. Can't recommend this place enough. One of the best Italian experiences I've had anywhere in the country. read more

Sans the calamari, everything was wonderful at Da Nina's. The Rudy salad , dinner sized or shareable was a chopped salad and full of flavor: romaine, cucumber mostly with Gorgonzola. Hot antipasto has many different bites of delectables. Veal scallopini and veal Parmesan looked amazing! The menu did not note gluten free but some items could be found. Don't choose the calamari! It was like chewing rubber bands. My husband should have sent it back, but he would never do that. The tiarimisu misu was absolutely wonderful as was the lemon sorbet. The sorbet had a light lemon flavor that wasn't too sweet. The lava cake looked funny and was almost as rubbery as the calamari. Skip that dessert the chocolate mousse looked much better. This is such a pretty place to eat. Service is fast and friendly. A classy place , but skip the calamari. read more

We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and had a wonderful experience. The servers are courteous and attentive and accommodating. Our water glasses or drinks were always filled. The restaurant is a warm friendly atmosphere without being rushed through our meals. The food is delicious, served hot and beautifully appealing. Had a great visit to Da Nina's while entertaining clients out of town a few weeks ago. Parking is tricky to navigate even on a random Tuesday night so keep that in mind when planning the timing. I was actually super excited to attend here being I had heard about this place forever but somehow our patches had never crossed. It's a bit dark when first walking in so I wasn't immediately finding our table of 20. Once everyone was there we ordered a copious amount of various appetizers. Everything from oysters on the half shell, fried calamari, salads with goat cheese their seasonal polenta stuffed pumpkin. Everything was superb. The one appetizer we all agreed we would not order again were the muscles. Sadly they had little to no flavor. For my entrée I had a salmon special that came with roasted potatoes and broccoli. I don't usually love potatoes unless they are fried (as an a french fry) and then it doesn't taste like potato. These however were the best roasted potatoes I've ever had in my life. Super crispy on the outside and soft in the middle and ridiculously good flavor. Other entrées that people enjoyed were the lasagna (huge), chicken Parmesan and the stuffed shrimp. Our waitress was attentive and fun. Since visiting I have now recommended Da Nina's to several friends in the area for a couples night out or time with friends and family. read more

Da Nina Italian Restaurant - Pumpkin appetizer special. Can eat everything except for the stem. So gorgeous, so fun and so delicious - Italian Near Me - Suffern, New York

Always great food and service. Consistent quality. The owners and staff are very friendly.

Standard Italian food. Took a party with two small kids in the rain with no issues. Staff is incredibly friendly. Portions are huge. Very old school decor and it reflects with the clientele. Really happy we were walking by and decided to go in. Everyone left extremely full. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars, but I didn't enjoy my food that much. It is a small, pleasant place which is very clean. The tables in the front are well arranged and in the back there are both booths & tables. I enjoyed the ambiance, and the staff were very friendly and efficient. My Son and I dined there a few days ago. We ordered a nice St. Michel chardonnay which was well priced. Foodwise, in the beginning they brought a plate with some very good bread and a dipping sauce consisting of tomatoes, oregano and olive oil - quite tasty. My Son enjoyed his meal more than I did. He ordered the stuffed mushrooms and veal piccata, which he enjoyed. I didn't fare so well. I ordered the clams oreganato and ravioli aragosta. The clams were unchewable, but the breading was good ($18 for breading). The ravioli was disappointing. There pretty much was no lobster in the dish and only a lobster flavoring in the sauce, and the pasta was undercooked. I do not like al dente. For dessert we had creme brulee, which was OK, but I have had better. We also ordered am amaretto coffee, which again was just OK - very little cream on top. Overall, for what you get, this restaurant is overpriced. I would not return. read more

Tried Da Nina's for the first time this week for Suffern's Restaurant week. The service was great. The food was tasty. My only complaint is the vodka sauce was so watery. I usually prefer a thicker sauce. But otherwise my salad was delish as was the bruschetta side they brought out with the bread. The penne was tasty, as was the breaded chicken. I would definitely return. read more

The ambiance is like stepping back in time somewhere in Italy. Greeted by the smiling owner, I instantly fell at home. You are missing out if you do not stop here to eat. We started with the mozzarella, tomatoes and prosciutto ham. I didn't think that something so simple could be so delicious, they also brought balsamic vinegar and olive oil along with it. Mozzarella was smooth and creamy and the prosciutto was soft and melted in my mouth. Also brought to the table was bread and bruschetta, saying it was delicious does not do it justice. The combination of bread and tomato brought my taste buds alive, my mouth was happy and so was I. I would have been happy just eating that, however we had also ordered the Pollo alla Donna Ana, a Chicken cutlet topped with prosciutto, fontina cheese and mushrooms in a Madeira demi-glace sauce. Visually it was a sexy plate of food . Putting it in my mouth was even better. There are no words to describe the symphony that was with each bite. Of course since I was drunk on the delicious food, we decided to go for desert and coffee. I ordered the Creme Brulee and my husband ordered a decaf cappuccino, both just a delicious and the rest of the meal. Cappuccino was better than any Starbucks coffee my husband and I have ever had. My husband and I ordered other deserts to go because we couldn't decide on just one. If you are looking for the best Italian food in Suffern, NY, this is a must stop place . My only disappointment is that I cannot go back tomorrow, we leave town in the morning. I seriously considered cancelling my flight to have one more night to eat here. It truly is a hidden gem. read more

For my wife's birthday dinner we decided to order out and give Da Nina's a try. Most reviews highly recommended Da Nina's and we obliged. We ordered the Hot Antipasto and the linguini de Mare (Seafood). The meal came with some incredible 'old school' bread a hood sign for Italian restaurants. The food was superb and the owners , Rudy very nice and respectful. I would recommend this restaurant as a very good dining experience! read more

Yes. Always great pasta and tomato sauce. Great attentive service. Nice small and cozy atmosphere

Updating once again- if you are not comfortable dining out yet, call in an order to Da Nina's- their food is delivered hot and always on time. (Or, eat outside under a tent- it's open, and there are heaters.) I just can't say enough about this restaurant- they have not changed the quality of their food, nor the amount. I used to dine out a lot before the Pandemic- ordering in from here is an absolute perfect substitute! Thank you, Da Nina's!!! read more

Everyone has unbelievably good, the Veal chop was delicious absolutely a great choice for Italian cuisine in Suffern

Good food. The waitress was very unfriendly. She was upset that we didn't get dessert.

They have nice outdoor seating that has many heat lamps so it's very comfortable. Nicely decorated, the staff is wonderful. The food is average. The spinach fettuccine was over cooked, mushy and falling apart. The halibut was a bit dry as well as their salmon special. The cannoli was delicious! Everything was great except the food, thus the average rating. read more

Been going camping in this area for many years! Have always driven by this restaurant, and decided to give it a whirl and a twirl-what the heck!?! Since we were camping, I might say we may have been a bit underdressed, but entered we did! The waiter was attentive without being overbearing which we appreciated. He was available and thorough on all questions. Thankfully so, cause one of my companions was filled with a multitude of questions ( must've been from the camping water)! Are we in Suffern or Manhattan?!? Be prepared for pricey meals! If you happen to be on a, "true" camping budget, go back to the woods!!! The food was good, but I did expect a bit more-taste wise given the prices of the items. It's small yet quaint. There is outside dining available. Upon exiting, I could almost hear Frank Sinatra crooning, The Summer Winds"! read more

Delicious Classic Italian dishes. Never disappointed by food or service. i often dine here and have either their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection, their linguine with white clams sauce, which is delicious. their fruit de mar is always an overwhelming dish over flowing with delicate seafood. While most items are high priced, I usually order a few appetizers. They make 1-2 meals because the servings are generous.
