This was my first time at Curley's Corner. It was a Friday at 2:30pm. Yes, it's an odd time but there were a few customers. I sat at the bar and ordered Bangers & Mash. I enjoyed my meal while watching the Mets destroy the Cubs to the point where I felt bad for them. Fox News and local cable news were other options. I listened to Don Henley and other rock tunes of the distant past. I was hoping to use their Bell Atlantic phone booth but it was out of order. Almost where Rockland County runs out of road, Curly's Corner sits in Suffern, NY. Don't let their Gaelic pubishness fool you, this is a real restaurant that turns out high quality fare. Sure the usual suspects are there for the asking but don't confine yourself to the Corned Beef and Shepard's Pie. My New York Strip was outstanding as was the Caesar that preceded it. Also, honorable mention goes to a very nice goat cheese salad and to a tasty Reuben that looked like they've been making them for awhile. You can get a drunk tank burger and nachos anywhere, why not get them from a place that ensures that they taste great even when you're sober. It may not look like it but Curly's is the real deal. My wife, son and I recently went to Curley's for a Saturday evening dinner. We were lucky to get a table - the last one - as the place was quite busy. The place doesn't take reservations. We were seated and quickly greeted by our server, Stacey. I do t usually remember server names, but she was fantastic. If you don't like friendly and chatty, then Stacey isn't for you. However, we thoroughly enjoyed talking to her and she did a great job serving us. The food was very good too, we ordered buffalo wings, which had a decent kick (I like them hotter, but I am alone in that in the family). They had a good kid, they were crispy, and they had good flavor. I had a cheeseburger with sautéed onions, which I thought was very good. The burger is a good size - not some flat burger. My wife had a cheeseburger. She thought it was average. Both burgers were medium rather than medium rare, which we asked for. My son had the sliced skirt cheese steak sandwich, which he thought was very good. Overall, great service and good food at reasonable prices. read more

Today was a beautiful day. I live in North Jersey and I grabbed my camera and started driving. I wasn't sure where I was going to stop for lunch but I ended up passing this place and then made a U-turn and ended up going back to try it. I have always wondered how it was. Although it looks deserted in my photos, there were many people sitting outside enjoying the weather. I chose to sit inside -- at the end of the bar near the window. The bartender was taking care of the folks inside and also tending to the people outside and he did a great job. I ordered the French Onion Soup and a Steak Sandwich with Fries. Everything was delicious. The French Onion Soup was GREAT... and I'm pretty picky about my French Onion Soup. The cheese AND the soup itself was delicious. Now, the steak sandwich was NOT a cheesesteak but slices of steak on a roll with cheese on the roll itself. It was very good. I really wasn't sure what to expect but I enjoyed it. Just don't order it, expecting a traditional "cheesesteak". The fries were great and I also ate the coleslaw and the pickle. Man, I was STUFFED. The bartender said there was parking on the right side of the restaurant but I parked towards the left, which is probably really for the businesses next to the restaurant. My wife and I have gone there more than several times during and before covid. They serve good pub food and the prices are what you would expect to pay. We stopped going because the service is poor. Sometimes you couldn't find a server for 10 min and all of a sudden one walks right by in a hurry to attend to another table. We like to sit at the booths across from the bar and sometimes the servers are hanging around and talking to the bar customers who must be regulars. Haven't been there in a while, maybe we will give it another try. read more

This is the 3rd time I reviewed this bar/restaurant and the reason I did because I think it's that GOOD ! Had the grilled pork chop with vege's and potato and it was Great !! Large portion where I needed a take-a way box... my buddy had the 16oz steak and he gave it 5 stars... All the prices were very reasonable including the drinks.... I ate out in the front patio a couple of times this past summer and it was set up nice....it's right across from the rail road tracks so it's pretty cool watching the freight and passenger trains go by... and also they are doing a good job spacing everyone during covid !! just fyi read more

I decided to try out this pub that opened up maybe about six months ago where they used to be a different pub I ordered the cheeseburger with french fries. 795 for just a plain hamburger $.95 for cheese $1.50 for mushrooms. The french fries were not very good at all. Very cheap frozen kind. With no taste no potato taste at all. The hamburger was fresh because it was kind of messy and fell out of the bun. It was cooked and requested medium. However it was bland and too greasy. Mushrooms were from a can and a bit odd tasting. The bun wasn't that great either. The lettuce and tomato Where not the freshest. The waiter was friendly but rushed he was serving so many table' They had a few managers I think walking around asking people how they were doing. No one asked me but if they would have I would've told them. I don't know if I'd come back here to try something that was more traditional Fare. Like shepherds pie. Great little Irish pub! I gave it a 4 because I went to change my 8month old and there is no changing table available in the bathroom... ( yeah yeah yeah... Why bring a baby to a pub.. well we're visiting from out if town and two it's during the day ) but I did make do and used a window ledge lol. Now, about the review on the food! Great service loved our server, she was awesome! I had the beef stew and my husband had the corn beef. Pretty darn good. Only complaint was the cabbage tasted too vinaigre. A few unseasoned pieces of dry beef. The cheese slice was dry and stuck to the top of the bun. No condiments, sauce, no au jus, nothing. To top it off a roach walked across the bar. I told the bar manager who basically ignored me and after I shoved the roach on the floor i pointed to it and he came and killed it and said thanks. that's it. Not let me get you more food, let me comp your disgusting meal, let me comp you a drink. No apology nothing. You couldn't pay me to go here again and if there are roaches in the bar area God only knows what is in the kitchen. The health department will be hearing from me Monday morning. read more

Burger was pretty good. I got it medium well and it was cooked perfectly to my liking. My friends ordered a nachos supreme and it was HUGE! They couldn't finish it (the three of them shared it). My burger came with a tomato slice, lettuce, a pickle section, coleslaw, and fries. The vegetables didn't seem very fresh and the burger wasn't very flavorful. I added ketchup and chipotle Tabasco sauce (I was surprised they had that but happy!). The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and I quite enjoyed them. Good portions too. The burger was $7.95 pre-tax, cheese was $.95, and additional toppings like onions and mushrooms were $1.50 or so each. Good price for the portions but I wish cheese were included! Stopped into Curley's Corner for Dinner with the family. The place looks great with 6 huge screen TV's above the bar and the menu is pretty extensive. It great to see that Mike reopened, as he has always been a staple in the Suffern Community. Had the Muscles with wine, bacon and blue cheese. Have to say it was incredibly good! I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu special and it was out this world! I am usually not a string bean lover, however they were also unbelievable! My only regret is that it took me so long to visit after moving to Suffern in June. Definitely check the specials menu. Tonight there were stuffed mushrooms, veal saltimboca and pan seared scallops tossed with tomato and spinach over linguine with white wine and lemon. Yum! read more

We just moved into the area a few days ago from Brooklyn and after making an errand run we were craving a good beer and pub grub. Looked at yelp and read great reviews here-then looked up menu and saw even better prices! It's what you should expect from your go-to-neighborhood-after-work-spot...where the owner (Mike Curley) is there to personally welcome you, make sure you're ok throughout your meal/visit, ensure that the beer selection was good/cold and that we felt at home with a round on the house as a 'welcome-into-town' treat. What a guy! Kate (our waitress) was also really sweet and attentive to our needs. Portions were great and food was tasty - we stuck to pub food as that is what we were looking for but their specials menu looked inviting too. We'll be back with our new neighbors and coworkers in the area and hopefully catch a good game on-tons of TVs everywhere. Great taps, OK atmosphere. Originally went here when it was the Shamrock Hotel. If you haven't been since they dialed up their offerings, you should. The beer selection is one of the best in the immediate Suffern area. The worst part of the ole Shamrock is gone... Cash only. They now accept credit cards!!! For those of you who have been when it was cash only, no fear now! They were also serving a martini made from Juneberries that grow literally right outside the front door. Talk about local harvesting! The atmosphere however is where they stand to gain the most. While I loved the all wood, old school pub vibe, the tables, chairs/stools and decor leave MUCH to be desired. The bar area is a little awkward too, as it has an odd amount of tables, but plenty of bar seating. The TV's are lined up and good for watching sports, but not conducive to having a great conversation. Overall, a nice place for drinks. Next time we are in, we will ty the food menu as well.
