More like 3 1/2 stars overall! Food was very good! I had cavatelli with vodka sauce which was so good! Just the right thickness of sauce too! My mother ordered nachos that was so huge! Portion sizes were great! Bakery was just ok, but the least Of all was service. It was packed and servers were not really hustling , they needed about 5 more people to serve. But i still got our food pretty fast and it was tasty so . While the restaurant is pretty, it is not very conducive to a cozy environment. Worked well for us! Great food, great service, great price! If you're looking for crappy diner food you will be disappointed. I got a strawberry banana and yogurt soothie, which you could tell was made fresh. We ordered a chicken sandwhich, french dip and kids french toast sticks. All were delicious but the french dip was the crowd favorite. Also, Every staff member we interacted with was very kind! Service was excellent at the State Line Diner. We arrived late for lunch service but there were still plenty of customers making their way in. Our food arrived quickly and at a great temperature. We ordered a shrimp wrap, a BLT turkey wrap, and the Greek Giro. The wraps each were healthy portions, but would benefit from additional spice or seasoning. We requested hot sauce to help add a bit more pizzazz. The fries that came along with the sandwiches were delicious, the side pickle was crunchy, but the coleslaw could've used a little salt. At near the entrance and loud to say the least and most of that was from State Line Persons and what looked like management. The rating of this place baffles me, it's outstanding. Our server George was extremely attentive and kind, and the food was truly outstanding. I had the Chicken Parm wrap, and it was not only delicious but also massive. And the seasoned waffle fries were sensational. Everyone else in our 8-person party loved their food, from the taylor ham egg & cheese sandwich to the breakfast platter to the fried calamari to the chicken caesar wrap, it was all fantastic. Terrible. Absolutely just down right bad food. Our server was the sweetest lady however and she deserves the compliment however the slop they pass up as food coming out of this kitchen is down right nasty. I ordered pancakes and eggs, the pancakes were ehh nothing necessarily wrong with them but they weren't remotely great either. The sunny side up eggs however, down right disgusting. Look at the picture I provided and tell me how that made it out of the kitchen. Would I have gotten sick from that? Maybe maybe not, but it look extremely unappetizing to say the least. Should also be noted it took forever to get our pancakes and eggs on a Sunday night. In a state full of amazing diners (Oakland and candlewick are my favorite) this diner is an insult to the others. A long standing diner close to the NY border right off Route 17. Owners seem a bit distant to the staff and being seated by the bar area you could hear all of their arguments and complaints on an early Sunday morning. Unfriendly waitress, no hospitality and just going through the motions while complaining no one is working etc. Was a bit comical to see the owners just go about running the bakery area and doing take out orders and ignoring all the stuff behind them. Asked for water and wheat toast with my eggs and got white toast and no water. Omelet was so so and side of slices potatoes was burnt beyond recognition and shouldn't be served to anyone. Very cranky staff in the morning. Much better places with better attitudes and food nearby. Ambiance was blah, no music, tv's on mute and staff complaints abound. read more

Ordered a turkey club, started eating it when I realized there was a gray ish hair embroidered into it. I was fine and just stopped eating the turkey club and started eating the fries, another hair in the fries. The manager apologized and told them to remake my food and claimed the chefs are bald but only one has hair and puts a hair net on. I said okay and then the food came out. I was inspecting it because I was making sure there wasn't any more hair and then guess what? I found more hair on the bread. I didn't want to eat any more so I stopped eating. Towards the end of my experience I was looking at the bacon and found another hair in my food. I was very disappointed with this place. 1 star. read more

Not all diners are the same. Got Steak cheesebuger deluxe . It had to be one of the better burgers I have had. $14.00. Most places $18.00 to $20.00. Also got carrot cake ,huge piece $5.50. I came here Wednesday night after work. As far as diners go, this one is OK. They have large dining room areas and a bar The servers are pleasant depending on who serves you they can be very responsive,. I ordered the French onion soup and chicken with cheese Panini. The soup was delicious a little salty. The chicken was overcooked and dry. but the Panini was just dry and I didn't enjoy it. I only ate half of it and threw the rest away. I've been going to stateline since high school. I cannot begin to tell you how many memories I've made there. The only thing that's stayed the same the past 10 years is the food is always great, the staff are always polite, and it's never lost its diner-like charm. I got the tuna melt for the first time today and it was incredible. My usual favorites are a grilled chicken wrap or omelette. But really everything I've ever tried has been awesome. I've given this place four chances and all four have been absolutely terrible. Lasagna comes frozen in the middle. You can tell they use the cheapest possible ingredients they can find - wraps are paper, paper thin and fall apart, tomato sauce tastes artificial and watery, home fries have been cooked twice and are hard as rock, French fries have been fries like three times and are dark dark brown and hard. Came in on a Saturday so yeah it was super busy but we were seated quickly. The Diner is fairly large and it was completely full, surprisingly didn't seem loud at all. I ordered the breakfast slam and it says it comes with sausage and bacon but I was only served eggs and home fries. I got the waiter's attention and told him about the mishap and he had the sausage and bacon out and on the table fast. Not very engaging waiter's but quick and fairly attentive (also it was super busy) the food was good and the coffee was too. The best late night diner to eat! Best spot for a fluffy stack of pancakes. The best is they offer real maple syrup not just the Hugh fructose corn syrup like most diners. Service is quick and beyond efficient. Although sometimes later hours there can be some obnoxious guests but the owners handle it extremely well.
