I made it home to Jersey this afternoon and immediately went to the State Line Diner in Mahwah with one of my big bro's and my sister-in-law. I moved to North Carolina 9 years ago and I miss my Jersey family, friends and DINERS!! My mom passed away right before I moved to North Carolina and the State Line Diner was one of our favorites places to have lunch. Good memoriesMy Greek salad was TD 4 ( to die for and my bro and sis in laws sandwich chicken salad club with homemade chips was divine! I love this place!

Standard diner fare at a well decorated diner close to the NY state border. They have a nice coffee menu with unique drinks. Service is fair, somewhat hurried and rushed, but accurate. Good amount of parking upfront.

Terrible. Absolutely just down right bad food. Our server was the sweetest lady however and she deserves the compliment however the slop they pass up as food coming out of this kitchen is down right nasty. I ordered pancakes and eggs, the pancakes were ehh nothing necessarily wrong with them but they weren't remotely great either. The sunny side up eggs however, down right disgusting. Look at the picture I provided and tell me how that made it out of the kitchen. Would I have gotten sick from that? Maybe maybe not, but it look extremely unappetizing to say the least. Should also be noted it took forever to get our pancakes and eggs on a Sunday night. In a state full of amazing diners (Oakland and candlewick are my favorite) this diner is an insult to the others. Do better. Please for the sake of diners and no and a reputation, do better.

Always a staple when in mahwah.

Repeat customers. Did not review last 2 trips. But consistently yummy classics. Chicken milanese wrap tonight with disco fries & a ice cold sam Adam's winter lager and a Cajun burger with a classic martini for the hubby! Our waitress Emily was great! Classic diner with a good menu

Not all diners are the same. Got Steak cheesebuger deluxe . It had to be one of the better burgers I have had. $14.00. Most places $18.00 to $20.00. Also got carrot cake ,huge piece $5.50. Very clean place. Fast friendly service. Great food and very resonable prices. This one of the better diners around. Will be back.

I came here Wednesday night after work. As far as diners go, this one is OK. They have large dining room areas and a bar The servers are pleasant depending on who serves you they can be very responsive,. I ordered the French onion soup and chicken with cheese Panini. The soup was delicious a little salty. The chicken was overcooked and dry. but the Panini was just dry and I didn't enjoy it. I only ate half of it and threw the rest away. I've been here for breakfast a number of times and I have to say breakfast is much better than their dinners.

Old Fashioned Thick Challah Bread French Toast? I don't think so.

The advertise thick cut challah bread french toast was thinly sliced loaf bread. Extremely disappointing.

Though I reviewed this in 2021. My "staycation" to Ramsey to see the Perseid meteors was a failure but I enjoyed a late-night delivery of a massive Greek salad with anchovies. Today I got the breakfast sampler, a hefty offering with meticulously prepared eggs over medium. Great service. Glad to see a classic Jersey diner still going strong, especially one of the rare 24-7 holdouts.

Tons of parking in the lot. Great service. Full diner menu and alcohol available. Typical NJ diner ambiance and very good eggs and French toast. Gyro came with zucchini fries which was weird at first but we loved them.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the hard working staff were non-stop, satisfying the fully-commited attendance. Thank goodness that I made reservations, which I highly suggest, or else you're going to probably have a double digit wait time. I was very impressed with the serving sizes and the freshness of their ingredients. I also appreciated how they placed the salad that accompanied my omelet in a separate bowl. The entrees were: Truffle Infused Wild Mushroom Omelette (wild mushrooms, shaved parmesan, roasted potato hash, and a side salad). Every bite was filled with every ingredient and this item is highly recommended. Whiskey Burger (8 Oz. beef patty, double cut bacon, apple jack barbecue sauce, sharp cheddar cheese, pickle, caramelized onions). This burger was juicy, throughout, and the sweet potato fries side was heavenly salty. The last entree was the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (whipped ricotta, lemon zest, fresh fruit and berries). Theses pancakes were t.h.i.c.k. and the fruit was plentiful. I also ordered an Apple and Pear Salad for takeout and it was AMAZING! It was large enough for two servings and the vinaigrette dressing was exquisite. Morning Bloom will be a top choice, going forward, and.....btw, after you're done with your meal, you could stroll through Allendale's many Main Street businesses.

(Reservations are not that easy to make last minute.) The restaurant is big and open but always busy. Kids get wax craft sticks to play with and bend into cool shapes, which I find very unique and cool. I feel like there is a difference between a diner and a true brunch place. A diner, of which there are numerous in New Jersey, is a establishment that churns out inexpensive, and potentially excellent, but very standard breakfast food - omelettes, pancakes, benedicts and the like. A true brunch place, on the other hand, offers things like lemon ricotta pancakes, cacio e pepe scrambles, mushroom thyme omelettes and shakshuka. Willow & Whisk is that kind of brunch place, and which is rare in New Jersey. The food options are varied, very tasty, and with good portion sizes. I love the shakshuka and the mushroom thyme omelette. Oh gosh, when is our next reservation again?

The highlight was definitely the Stuffed French Toast. It looked beautiful, and I expected it to be overly sweet, but it was surprisingly well balanced. The toast was soft with a slightly crispy exterior, and the cream cheese filling paired really well with the strawberry compote. We also ordered the BLT+. The smoked bacon was delicious, but the focaccia was a little too thin and hard, making it harder to eat than I expected. The house-made sausage was good, just not particularly memorable. As for the coffee, it was probably the most disappointing part of the meal. The latte wasn't very smooth, and the cold brew had a slight off taste. They were both drinkable, just not something I'd order again. Overall, I'd recommend this place for the food and the atmosphere, especially if you're interested in the French toast. At the register, it was a little confusing as there was no line that had formed. There were people standing in front of the register and the young employee would just shout "next customer" and someone would decide to go next. In my opinion, I think the back room should have a door or curtain just for the employees privacy. I would not want customers seeing me eating or on my phone while I'm on a break. I'm sure most people know it's a break room, but for those who don't would be wondering why there are people sitting when the front of the store has customers waiting for their order to be taken. Back to the food... I got a panini with mozzarella, tomato, basil and chicken (additional $4.50). And I also go the Clean Green smoothie. They gave me a numbered placard so that someone could deliver my food to my table. The panini was good, but unfortunately the chicken was very dry and the ends of the bread was soggy. For something that was just made, the bread should not be soggy like it had been sitting in a liquid for a while. The smoothie was ok. I think they put too much vanilla extract in it because that was the only thing I could really taste. I think the banana needed to ripen for another day. Also, there was a grainy texture and I can't figure out why as there was no powder added to it. According to the menu, the ingredients are coconut water, banana, cucumber, spinach, dates, and vanilla extract. The total for my sandwich and drink was $31. This is an ok but overpriced lunch. I might come back to try something else in the future.
