Service was excellent at the State Line Diner. We arrived late for lunch service but there were still plenty of customers making their way in. Our food arrived quickly and at a great temperature. We ordered a shrimp wrap, a BLT turkey wrap, and the Greek Giro. The wraps each were healthy portions, but would benefit from additional spice or seasoning. We requested hot sauce to help add a bit more pizzazz. The fries that came along with the sandwiches were delicious, the side pickle was crunchy, but the coleslaw could've used a little salt. At near the entrance and loud to say the least and most of that was from State Line Persons and what looked like management. Our server was the sweetest lady however and she deserves the compliment however the slop they pass up as food coming out of this kitchen is down right nasty. I ordered pancakes and eggs, the pancakes were ehh nothing necessarily wrong with them but they weren't remotely great either. The sunny side up eggs however, down right disgusting. Look at the picture I provided and tell me how that made it out of the kitchen. Would I have gotten sick from that? Maybe maybe not, but it look extremely unappetizing to say the least. A long standing diner close to the NY border right off Route 17. Owners seem a bit distant to the staff and being seated by the bar area you could hear all of their arguments and complaints on an early Sunday morning. Unfriendly waitress, no hospitality and just going through the motions while complaining no one is working etc. Was a bit comical to see the owners just go about running the bakery area and doing take out orders and ignoring all the stuff behind them. Asked for water and wheat toast with my eggs and got white toast and no water. Omelet was so so and side of slices potatoes was burnt beyond recognition and shouldn't be served to anyone. Very cranky staff in the morning. Much better places with better attitudes and food nearby. Ambiance was blah, no music, tv's on mute and staff complaints abound. read more

Not all diners are the same. Got Steak cheesebuger deluxe . It had to be one of the better burgers I have had. $14.00. Most places $18.00 to $20.00. Also got carrot cake ,huge piece $5.50. They have large dining room areas and a bar The servers are pleasant depending on who serves you they can be very responsive,. I ordered the French onion soup and chicken with cheese Panini. You can tell they use the cheapest possible ingredients they can find - wraps are paper, paper thin and fall apart, tomato sauce tastes artificial and watery, home fries have been cooked twice and are hard as rock, French fries have been fries like three times and are dark dark brown and hard. Food is more restaurant level than what one would think of from a diner.Servers were pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient. We ordered a mixed appetizer plate, Mussels Marinara, and Lasagna.And wine. Portions quite large, so we took home enough lasagna to form the base for another night's dinner and several appetizers. I have eaten at this diner under three different owners. The second owner renovated a very old restaurant but not the bathrooms. We liked both the renovation and food, it was a really nice change. Came in on a Saturday so yeah it was super busy but we were seated quickly. The Diner is fairly large and it was completely full, surprisingly didn't seem loud at all. I ordered the breakfast slam and it says it comes with sausage and bacon but I was only served eggs and home fries. I got the waiter's attention and told him about the mishap and he had the sausage and bacon out and on the table fast. Not very engaging waiter's but quick and fairly attentive (also it was super busy) the food was good and the coffee was too. The food was amazing! Very generous portions. I had the broiled seafood platter with a side of sautéed spinach. Good service for a large group of us. The best late night diner to eat! Best spot for a fluffy stack of pancakes. The best is they offer real maple syrup not just the Hugh fructose corn syrup like most diners. Service is quick and beyond efficient. Although sometimes later hours there can be some obnoxious guests but the owners handle it extremely well.
