We stopped into The Ridge Diner after they recently completed a major renovation and wanted to see how it turned out. We came for a Sunday morning breakfast -- it was definitely busy, but there were still tables available and the wait was minimal. The new decor looks very clean, fresh, and updated. They've done a nice job modernizing the space while still keeping that classic diner feel. It seems like they refresh things every 15 years or so, and this renovation feels very current. While we were there for breakfast, this is still very much a full-service diner with an extensive menu that runs all day -- breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dinner options range from classic comfort food and sandwiches to pasta dishes, burgers, and more traditional diner entrées, making it an easy spot if everyone at the table wants something different. Breakfast overall was good. Coffee was decent, and I appreciated that it comes with a small pitcher so you can top it off yourself. The Cali crab cakes were excellent -- essentially a crab cake Benedict, and the cakes themselves were really tasty. The California omelet was also nicely balanced and well executed. The only miss for us was the potatoes. They looked more like sliced, boiled potatoes without much sear or crispness -- not really what you expect from diner-style hash browns. Service was fine but not especially proactive. Our server would bring things when we asked, but didn't really check in on how the food was or see if we needed anything. One thing that definitely caught my eye: the milkshakes going to another table looked stunning. We didn't order one this time, but they're on the list for next visit. I also appreciated how easy it was to pay the check by scanning a QR code right at the table -- quick and convenient, especially when it's busy. And...no credit card fee, which is always nice to see! Overall, a solid breakfast spot, especially now with the refreshed space.

After a full renovation, they re-opened a few days before Christmas, did a complete upgrade and modernized the restaurant. Service was quick, friendly staff with a cozy atmosphere. We had the left over pasta which is exactly what you think. A mix of "leftovers" mixed together. Looked odd but it worked nicely. Turkey burger was moist but was messy to eat. Avocado and steam from the patty completely destroyed the bread and it eventually just flattened up and was a hot mess. Maybe not add the avocado? Chili cheese fries were a tad spicy which was pretty tasty. Overall, it's good to have a classic diner nearby when you want simple, no fuss kinda meal. I'll be back for sure.

The Ridge Diner recently received a much-needed renovation, and it really shows. The space feels brighter, cleaner, and more modern, with additional seating that helps when they're busy (which they definitely were during our visit). I came here for a Sunday morning breakfast with family, and as someone with celiac disease, I always pay close attention to gluten-free options. I was pleasantly surprised by how many choices they offer. They have gluten-free pancakes, gluten-free French toast, gluten-free bread (which I had with my omelet), and even gluten-free wraps for sandwiches. It's refreshing to see a diner that clearly put thought into accommodating gluten-free diners. The menu has also expanded overall, with plenty of options for non-gluten-free eaters. I ordered the Southwest omelet with gluten-free toast and was satisfied with my meal. At our table, one family member ordered the stuffed waffle (which looked really good), and another had the short ribs Benedict. The Benedict was tasty, but the English muffin was a bit overcooked and we were expecting a bit more short rib on the plate. Service was attentive despite how busy it was. Our server checked in on us regularly, and when they noticed we were going through a lot of water, they kindly left a pitcher at the table, which was very appreciated. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak hours, but they do utilize a nearby convenience store lot for additional parking, which helps. They also have a great-looking dessert case, but we were way too full to try anything this time--hopefully next visit. Overall, this is a solid diner option that works well for families, groups with mixed dietary needs, or even a late-night bite. With a wide-ranging menu and breakfast served all day, there's truly something for everyone.

Run of the mill diner. Fries not crispy or salty enough. The renovation looks nice. The service overall is very slow. That's good when you want to take your time. Not so good when the kids are getting antsy.

The Ridge Diner 125 Kinderkamack Rd. Park Ridge, NJ 07656 Stuffed French Toast Appearance: 7/10 Taste: 7.3/10 This restaurant is currently being renovated, but they are still open during construction. I praise management and the servers for staying open to the public while also dealing with the contractors. This breakfast plate was ok, but not at the top of my list. The name of this breakfast item is misleading because the french toast isn't actually stuffed; it's more like a sandwich. The strawberry flavored cream cheese is not infused inside the toast. The cream cheese spread is between two French toast slices. When I next return, I will keep it simple and just stick to the typical breakfast items such as butter milk pancakes and over easy eggs. (I can vouch from previous experiences that their traditional plates are a winner.) #stuffedfrenchtoast #frenchtoast #ridgediner #parkridgenj #diner #njdiner #honestreview

Had a very nice lunch meal at this diner, the food is always good the service is always pleasant and you always get your money's worth. This is surly a local diner a little out dated-seems like many seniors go heed for a good meal.

Take those expectations and throw them out the window, and open your taste buds and mind to new flavors to homemade dishes that will blow you away. I heavily recommend the mozzarella sticks which are more like bricks of cheese dipped in seasoned coatings that will make other mozzarella sticks think of a new name when these melt in your mouth and pull apart perfectly. The homerun of a sandwich is the Bun Jovi which is a honey Sriracha chicken schnitzel slathered with swiss cheese, pickles, pastrami, and coleslaw. And this dream of a sandwich delivers. Shrinkflation is the new name of the game here from my experience over the past couple of months!…read more $14.95 for 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, toast, and 2 sausage links. 1. The new sausage links are significantly smaller than they used to be. 2. You're never going to get 2 eggs. It always looks like a bit more than 1 egg when scrambled, portions are horrible. 3. Home fries are dry and bland. 4. I don't even think they really butter the toast anymore either. This weekend 3 adults and 1 child eating sliders, 2 burgers, an adult shake and a kids shake came to $100. When eating I asked the waiter if I could get a slice of onion for my burger, he told me it would be $1 extra. I said "oh I think you misheard me, can I just get a few pieces of raw purple onion for my burger, nothing fancy?" Nope, after speaking to manager they now want 55 cents for a slice of a vegetable on the burger! I jokingly asked "How much for the entire onion?" They responded that they won't sell an entire onion. And remember when you would get a burger deluxe and there would be a bunch of french fries on your plate, not anymore here. Now they put a small handful of french fries in a small metal cup on your plate, maybe 20 medium fries. Now it's $1.00 for a slice of cheese and 75 cents for lettuce and tomato. So now it's $15.95 for a cheeseburger with a few french fries, an onion ring, cole slaw, and pickles. They won't charge you for an extra pickle slice yet, so at least I could eat a few pickle spears with our $100 burgers. Also, $3.25 for a seltzer?!! This place is crazy! I wonder how many times the topic of charging for ketchup, salt & pepper came up b/c that's next I fear! The prices go up, the portions get smaller, and we get nickel and dimed for every little thing. So I left a significantly smaller tip, if I'm going to get cheaped out on every little thing then I'm going to start doing it too. If prices increase by 20% and portions decrease by 20% and service decreases then that's where I'm going to find my savings. Sorry to say, this is our new reality.

It looks like they are doing some work near the lobby area, possibly weather related, but it did not take away from the experience. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away. The staff was friendly across the board and our server Emma was great. She checked in often and made sure we were good. Even though we ordered at different times, the food still came out relatively quick. Now onto the food. We had two Godfather omelettes with home fries. They were okay, but mine lacked flavor and the hash browns were overcooked. The potato skins with bacon were good, but also a bit overcooked. The standout for me was the breakfast egg rolls. Stuffed with Taylor ham, egg, and cheese, they were juicy, crispy, savory, and loaded with gooey cheese. Easily the best thing I had. We also had the bacon egg and cheese biscuit sliders, which I was told were good. The fish and chips, on the other hand, did not hit. It was greasy, heavily breaded, and the fish was mushy inside. The fries had a slightly off taste, though not terrible. I also had an espresso martini. It was decent, not the best I have had, but still enjoyable. Overall, the experience was good. Friendly service, a clean and comfortable space, and some strong menu items mixed with a few misses. I would come back to try more, especially the Bandito Burrito, Latin Steak and Eggs, buttermilk pancakes, short rib and egg tacos, Mexicali skillet, Cuban breakfast, cheesy bacon tots, Irish Dream coffee, and Pirate's rum punch. And definitely those breakfast egg rolls again.

What other diner's gonna hit ya with a Tuscanesque patio to enjoy your bruncheon, luncheon or dinner? As the competition grows in the diner game, no longer can you just serve the basics well. Can you Benny? Can you create? Can you... innovate? ~ Innovation. Unfortunately, at an all time high yet at an all time halt for most of us. High quantity but in isolation. Detached yet still insulated, the modern man wants to but can't. The days of novelty have escaped us.
