Wife was here with a few friends and they all said it was expensive and wasn't worth it, but I had to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it'll be my first and last time there. I really wanted to enjoy the place, as I've had other friends frequent it. From the inception of the restaurant, they've had "pastrami" as the highlight. I really wanted that. They didn't have it. I told them the rest of my family's order and to come back afterwards so I can find something else. Decided on some chili as it was a cold day. They didn't have that either. I gave up and just didn't order anything for myself. Every thing came out bland. We didn't ask for no salt or lower sodium. Either way the cute little salt shaker visited a lot. At the price point that they have, I really was expecting something. The disco fries were scarce. I can basically count how many there were. As well as not knowing what kind of gravy it included on the side. The chicken tenders were bland, but at least the chicken was tender and the coating was crispy. Strawberry pancakes were fluffy and good on the first bite, but if left cold, it just became hard. The strawberry butter was a really nice touch and I enjoyed it. Too much strawberry for me, but will not lower the score for that. That's just my preference of taste. The mac and cheese was soupy and not thick, and again no seasoning. Cheeseburger was okay, didn't wow us. Also could not figure out if it was house made or not. It was lean, somewhat juicy, but it was a little tough. Wasn't horrible. What I found interesting was with the amount of fries that came with our order, they all came out differently. The disco fries were crispy, fries that came with the mac and cheese were over done, and the cheeseburger fries were a mixture of crispy, soggy and overdone. But one commonality with all the fries was how bland it was. Anyway, between the pricing and not having two things that I ordered, was just enough to put me in a sour mood. read more

Not enough words can describe the amazing food here. I didn't know what to expect when stumbling into Country MKT diner, and you shouldn't too. Take those expectations and throw them out the window, and open your taste buds and mind to new flavors to homemade dishes that will blow you away. I heavily recommend the mozzarella sticks which are more like bricks of cheese dipped in seasoned coatings that will make other mozzarella sticks think of a new name when these melt in your mouth and pull apart perfectly. The homerun of a sandwich is the Bun Jovi which is a honey Sriracha chicken schnitzel slathered with swiss cheese, pickles, pastrami, and coleslaw. And this dream of a sandwich delivers. The blue seating booths make the diner fun , with high backs they provide comfort and some privacy to your conversations. Hearty breakfast and lunch fare in a casual environment and says they use better ingredients than other places (definitely a step up than a typical diner). Come hungry! The menu is a good size with one side for breakfast (eggs, omelets, French toast, pancakes and Waffles) and another for lunch (wraps, sandwiches, soups, entrees). I enjoyed the breakfast burrito ($15) which was generously filled with eggs, avocado, cheese, onions, peppers and sausage; it had the most eggs I've ever had it in a burrito. The accompanying salad was well dressed and fresh, and the potatoes and peppers were also done well. The simple two egg dish with salad, toast and potatoes were also well prepared, though 3 sausage links on the side for $6 seemed a bit steep! Service was pretty good. I didn't mind that the food took longer than a typical diner because the food was better. For the concept of the place, I would have wanted a more homey interior that welcomed you in. It's a bit loud and very blue, with colorful artwork on the walls, not what I was expecting! One hour street parking on that street or find a side street. Nearby are many Korean spots, Daniela's for ice cream, bakeries, etc. on the main strip in Closter. read more

This was my first visit to the MKT Diner and it was enjoyable. I really enjoyed the building's exterior color choice, the diner is kept clean, and the interior wall art was impressive. Our server, Roni, did a fabulous job throughout our visit and I appreciated her attention to detail. My Closter Omelet was amazing. The potatoes were delicious and so perfectly salted that I almost ordered a side of those delicious taters. The Blueberry Pancakes were just as good, the fruit accompaniment was much appreciated, and complemented the pancakes. We have been wanting to try Country MKT Diner for a while. We heard great things about the food, and it did not disappoint. Upon entering, there is a modern diner feel. It is an open and clean space, which is nice because some diners make you feel like you are right on top of the neighboring tables. The staff is very friendly and attentive, though there were a few mistakes with our order. The server forgot to put in our appetizer, and made some excuses when I asked about it, but ended up taking it off our bill. She also did not put in the correct dressing order for my wife's salad, but my wife decided not to ask for it to be fixed, and enjoyed the salad as it came. The food selections are amazing, with breakfast available all day, but they have lunch and dinner options as well. The food quality was great. Everything was clearly cooked to order and made with fresh ingredients. I loved my tuna melt, and the fries were top notch. The server offered us a free dessert due to the couple of mix ups, but we were so full from the wonderful meal that we had to politely decline. We will definitely be adding Country MKT Diner to our list of regular haunts. read more

We went for a late breakfast, service was good, eggs took a while to arrive. Ordered 2 eggs, fresh OJ and sausage with toast. We both ordered exactly the same meal. Eggs were slightly overcooked, sausage was 3 links with hard skin and lettuce looking salad came on the plate with the eggs (?) with a small portion of diced potatoes. 2 small pieces of toast. The food was so fresh and delicious and the service was great! We came here at 8AM on a Friday and it was empty. My wife ordered pancakes, not bad but came with no butter, had a very small container of something sweet & pinkish (???). I ordered an egg omelet with potatoes. The potatoes were a mixture of different potatoes to include sweet potatoes, did not taste good. the omlet had some potatoes & vegetables in it and did not taste good. Had to add lots of ketchup. The dish also came with a very small salad. The bill with the tip came out to $39.00. The waiter had a cell phone to scan my card and select a tip. The smallest tip was 18 % or zero. I like to choose my own tip based on the service provided. We arrived at the restaurant about 11am and waited 20 minutes or more for our food to arrive. Never again. read more

I am sorry Corey, two strikes and you're out. I was there for lunch around the time you first opened and ordered chicken cutlet. After waiting a bit longer than I expected I asked for a status on my meal and the waiter said the kitchen had to make new cutlets and it would be just a bit longer. OK, fine. Over EASY eggs, bacon and French fries. Food comes out tepid again!! (and I'm being generous in my temperature assessment), fries were burnt and the eggs were well done. I am a reasonable guy but at this time we were the only ones in the restaurant, why can't you guys serve a hot meal?? I ask the waitress to send it back and a few minutes later I get "better" eggs (over medium instead of well done but still not over easy), the fries looked and tasted like they were put back in the fryer instead of a fresh batch made. It was a struggle to eat but I ate half so I would feel like I totally wasted $18.00. On a positive note, your waitress (Jennifer) was an absolute doll! Sometimes the fries feel reheated/stale of late which is a little disappointing and soups can be a little salty. Iced teas home made and consistently superb. Attracting more variety of customers. Staffs were friendly. My boyfriend is a burger person and like their beyter burger. I think that was how it spelled. I used Uber Eats or DoorDash for delivery. Omelettes and Eggs Benedict style eggs are absolutely delicious! My omelette comes out to over $22 with extra cheese but it's so good. Our issue is with the breakfast potatoes that come with it that are basically raw! There's sweet potato and white potatoes but no taste and they need to be cooked much more so basically you're paying for an omelette since potatoes are inedible. Madison grill had amazing home fries but they are no longer open or I'd say have your chef try theirs. My other tremendous issue was with their chicken soup. There was no chicken in it! A few dark scraps at the bottom but I expect nice pieces of chicken breast for that price. Maybe it was just an off day.
