My husband stopped in to pick up breakfast for us at Dee's this morning. He said everyone was extremely nice and the place itself is very cute and clean. Very hometown feeling! I received one of the best TEC Sandwiches I've had in a while. An extremely well done classic. I just wish my home fries were a little more crispy and then I could give a 5/5 review, but now I know to ask for them more well done. Definitely worth a visit for the classics!

    French toast, super cinnamon-y!!!

My sister and I decided to stop by for a late breakfast before running some errands in the area. We always drive by Dee's on the way to her house and never thought to stop in until some of her friends in the area recommended the place. Looking back, we realized that Dee's is always packed after Sunday mass at the nearby church, so it all started to make sense haha We walked in and immediately got the classic diner vibe - vinyl flooring and table tops, hardcover books on sale for $4, and the lottery available for purchase. We were greeted immediately and told to sit anywhere we would like. The menus are placed at each table, which is awesome since we were looking for speedy service since we had a long day ahead of us. My sister ordered the french toast with two over-medium eggs. I ordered three pancakes, two eggs over-medium, and bacon. We also ordered a side of hash brown patties to share. My sister's french toast was made using normal white sliced bread, but was soaked perfectly and super cinnamon-y. I'm a huge cinnamon fan, so this was awesome. It came buttered as requested and it just made the french toast taste like an unraveled cinnamon roll. My pancakes were very spongey and almost tasted like a zeppole! I hate dry pancakes, so the spongey texture was very welcomed. I also requested butter on my pancakes, and they were very generous with their application. The bacon came out exactly as we ordered (well done) and the hash browns were classic. It all hit the spot. I loved that they had different syrups available including sugar-free for those watching sugar intake. The waitresses were all SO attentive and welcoming. I couldn't have had a better experience at Dee's and can't wait to come back. FYI: cash only!

He had tried it at a friend's mosque and he says he's been chasing that high ever since. We figured we'd try to get some at Mokafe. It wasn't too difficult to find street parking, but the cafe was surprisingly busy for a late Sunday night. We placed our order for Adeni Shai, Dubai Knafa Brownie, and a Lotus Biscoff croissant. Everything was delicious. I have never had Yemeni tea before so I didn't have a bar to measure it against. I really enjoyed the tea though my friend said it wasn't exactly what he was looking for. I feel like it could've done with more spices but it still tasted very good. The Dubai Knafa Brownie was excellent. The brownie by itself was nice and moist with the perfect texture for a brownie. The Knafa set it over the top with the crunch and pistachio flavor. I'd definitely get this again. The Lotus Biscoff Croissant was good, but I liked the brownie more. It was about an average croissant but the Biscoff spread added some nice flavor to it. I think it could've used more though. It was buttery and flaky; pillars a of what a croissant should be. However, I'd try another pastry before ordering this again. The place is clean, they play great music, and the service is prompt and friendly. Mokafe is a wonderful Coffee House and I'd love to come back.

Since Yemeni coffee and tea options aren't common for everyone, they take the time to explain the menu and answer questions, which I really appreciated. However, the Adeni Chai was the only saving grace of the visit. It was flavorful and well made, but the coffee was a massive disappointment. I tried the Jubani after the staff described it as a delicious light-roasted coffee packed with caffeine, but in reality, it tasted like bland cardamom water with absolutely no coffee flavor or body. It felt like I was just drinking hot spiced water. The atmosphere was also a major issue as there was no seating available whatsoever. The crowd was mostly of Middle Eastern descent and many were incredibly rude; people will bump right into you and not say a word. Even worse was the way some customers spoke to the workers, it was absolutely deplorable. Honestly, who raised you? It was uncomfortable to witness. The dessert selection was even worse. Most of what we ordered felt stale and old. The only thing worth eating was the bubble dessert with cheese because they actually toast it. We tried both the pistachio milk cake and the pistachio dream cake, and neither was impressive. The khattafi in the pistachio dream was the biggest letdown; it was so stale and bland I can't believe they actually put it out to sell when it was clearly weeks if not months old. The basboosa was also a disappointment, as it was a very small square of semolina cake for almost $5. Overall, It is not a good place for coffee or desserts, so if you do go, stick strictly to the Adeni chai.

(cappuccino.) the second time I went I blame myself. This time I noticed both employees did not wash their hands and I ordered the same thing. There's an old gentleman that made my coffee while the other employee wore a black apron and decided to go smoke cigarettes and mingle with the people on the sidewalk. Both times I noticed that the employees don't wash their hands considering they didn't put their hands in the coffee. It's still unsanitary. The sink area was completely disgusting and wet just like if no one cared of hygiene or cleanliness. I guess they are plenty of chairs but when you have these old creepy guys sitting there watching you, it's creepy. I don't recommend this place or I don't recommend the employees that clearly don't care. I will not be going back to this place. The people that sit on the outside are obnoxious, always smoking cigarettes, and it makes the place unattractive. It's as if they're trying to reenact the Sopranos. Your first view of this establishment when getting out of your car are grease bought douche bags that clearly don't have a job sitting around before noon smoking cigarettes on total Avenue. I don't believe this is an adequate environment to sit outside and drink, coffee or inside. Fix the ambience and get rid of the employees that don't do their job properly or don't have a considerate attitude for hygiene. One thing I almost forgot to mention I don't believe that politics should be spewed by employee employees while customers are being served. Including sprinkles of Reese's rhetoric.
