Restaurante Yesenia was my favorite local place for Salvadoran pupusas revuelta, sort of a thick corn flour patty stuffed with pork and cheese. They were larger, crispier, and better stuffed than most. I felt some dismay when I heard they've converted to an American-style brunch diner, but there's still a small "secret" menu reflecting the past. My troupe were in for breakfast, but I'll admit a twinge of regret when I saw another diner digging into a big, cheesy bit of yum accompanied by pickled cabbage and tomato sauce. Next time. Along with the new name comes a new menu, and it's very American. Pancakes, waffles, breakfast skillets, omelets, eggs any style. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken wings, steaks. Oddly, there is a "dinner" section, though the new hours are solidly breakfast/lunch. Perhaps they have future plans to expand the schedule? We ordered coffee while making our selections, which was pre-ground "diner standard". Not terrible, but not great. Service was super friendly and we didn't go lacking for refills of the brown stuff, such as it was. A full breakfast order of french toast with syrup and whipped cream ($9.49) came with two eggs, hash browns, and bacon (or sausage)--we added fresh banana for $1.29. The battered bread was nicely browned, not too eggy, and pretty much what you want from this classic. The eggs were a perfect over-medium. The hash browns were average-but-plentiful, and the pair of bacon strips were thin, crispy, and uniformly straight. Picture perfect. It was a lot of food, requiring two plates. Three cheese blintzes ($8.99) with peaches and whipped cream were next. Unlike the tucked and folded kosher treats, these were cheese-filled, rolled crepes topped with canned peaches and a light syrup I'm thinking came from the can the fruit was packed in. They were good, but instead of the traditional mix of ricotta and cream cheeses (or better, farmer's cheese) with egg and lemon zest or juice, the filling appeared to be cottage cheese and heavy cream. Again, the overall result was fine, but wouldn't pass muster at a New York deli. Probably best in show, a steak "Macho Man" cast-iron skillet ($11.99) loaded with strips of carne asada, home fries, onion, jalapeno, habanero, bell pepper, and shredded cheese--topped by two eggs--with a gravy-laden biscuit on the side for good measure. The chunky potatoes were perfect, the meat tasty, and the whole thing was glued together with melted cheese in the way that ensures you'll get a bit of everything in every bite. If you have issues with hot stuff, skip the habanero; this bit of breakfast had some serious bite. The biscuit wasn't the fluffiest, and the country gravy lacked sausage or bacon, but brought it on with plenty of black pepper and overall graviness. A pair of chicken poblano crepes ($10.99) with mushroom, onion, poblano chile, Swiss cheese, and hollandaise sauce were golden brown and a sizeable meal on their own. The chicken had obviously been pre-cooked then tossed back on the heat, but the smoky flavor and crispy bits were quite good. The chunks were a bit large and required being cut down, yet were tender enough to allow it. The chopped poblano added just a bit of vegetative heat, and the 'shrooms and onions were perfectly sauteed. The topping of spice-dusted hollandaise did its job, and we left fortified to seize the day. read more

I didn't think I had been here before but I recognize the waiter so I guess I have. They are open until 3 PM which I like because so many places close at two. The service was very quick and friendly. My food arrived promptly and was even served on plates that were NOT icy cold! I ordered a senior breakfast. When it arrived it looked very small but that was mainly due to the fact that the cook had forgotten to cook my hashbrowns so they arrived a bit late. The food was kind of generic, nothing special, but also very greasy. I would say that the main attraction for this restaurant is its cleanliness. Although I was not terrifically impressed by the meal I will return because I want to try some of the ethnic cuisine they offer. read more

D'licious is a reboot of Yesenia, so if you're looking for delicious pupusas, fear not. They haven't left you. D'licious is not going to be your fancy brunch/special occasion locale, but if you're looking for a simple place that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg, it will do you just right. Staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and the environment is pretty sparely decorated and has that strip mall diner feel. I ordered the regular breakfast, my date had the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious, though my over-medium eggs were a bit on the undercooked side (it's fine, no one can cook an over-medium egg it seems). Loved that the breakfast burrito was one of the few that we've encountered that you can hold in your hand! Not sure when breakfast burrito hand-holding went the way of the dodo, but it's a nice change when I can man-handle my breakfast appropriately. Revueltas pupusas were delicious as always, and definitely add the slaw and salsa to them while you're eating them--it really bumps up the flavor and texture. All I can say is wow! The food was so good, I almost forgot to take a photo and post it. They are extremely busy taking phone-in orders, online orders and taking care of seated customers, so expect a little delay. But, the staff is amazingly wonderful and apologetic about the wait. read more

The guy serving us was very nice so there's the 2 stars but the food is the worse breakfast/brunch food I've ever had. We eat out often and chose this place to eat while on our roadtrip because it was one of the first couple places that came out of yelp and had 4.5stars. Really don't know where the stars comes from. Food was so bland. I ordered the chicken crepe, chicken barely seasoned and the hollandaise sauce was tasteless. It was honestly nasty. We also had waffles, and pancakes, all bland as well, no taste other than the boxed pancake quality. Again, such friendly server but it was not worth our money. Located one turn off S. Virginia Street, this locally-owned dining spot definitely took me by surprise. The store front is deceiving, as the inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious for the number of tables they have. I can't decide if I'd describe this place as a Latin breakfast spot with American dishes, or an American breakfast spot with a Latin twist. The menu offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner listing your typical French toast, pancakes, burgers, etc. There is a separate menu insert offering other dishes such as tacos, quesadillas, and pupusas! We walked in as a party of 5 around 10:30-11:00 am and were seated immediately; there was only one party of 2 currently seated. The host/server/manager (he worked all 3 roles), who also speaks Spanish (I believe he said he's Salvadorian) greeted us and let us choose our seats. The menu was a bit overwhelming with options, but it could also be because I was so hungry and everything sounded delicious! There is a small selection of imported beers and wines. I started with a mimosa, which for $6 wasn't too bad. Our group ordered the meat lovers skillet, banana and Nutella French toast, steak and avocado omelet, country fried steak, and my order, which was the 3 tacos combo with 2 chorizo and 1 asada. By the time our food came out, parties ranging from 2 to 8 people trickled in and filled more than half the restaurant! And the food was just as expected, AWESOME! My tacos came with 2 choice sides, so my plate had 3 tacos loaded with onions and cilantro, refried beans, and rice with green salsa and habanero sauce on the side. It was FILLING. They were definitely generous with the meat portions. I could barely finish my last taco but I forced myself - that's how yummy. The asada was tender and moist. The chorizo was a bit burnt and crunchy in some spots but otherwise super tasty. My brother and dad finished all of their skillet and country fried steak, including the sides of biscuits and gravy that came with their entrees. The only downside to everything and reason I had to deduct a star was that both my mother and sister found hairs in their entrees.. However, we brought it up with the server and he apologized, offered us another entree (we declined), and removed the dishes from our bill. Overall we had stellar service and delicious food. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt about the hair situation, and would definitely recommend this place to others passing through like we were! read more

Went to church in Reno and was looking for a place that wasn't a super long wait. Saw this place on Yelp and it had 4.5 stars so thought we would try it out. The food was great, the service was just as good, and the price was extremely reasonable. I ordered the biscuits and gravy meal and asked to substitute ham for the sausage which was no problem. There was plenty to eat and I wasn't able to finish it. My brother got the California omelette, my dad got the pork chops and eggs and my daughter got the pancakes. Everyone was equally impressed. What really stood out to me was the eggs. Most places don't cook scrambled eggs well but here they were tender and delicious. Definitely will be going back. read more

I haven't been here since the rebrand from Yesenia's and was surprised to see the new menu. What made me happy was to see that they still serve some of the favorites from their old menu. Please try the spicy shrimp omelette!!! This thing is crazy good. (We did it with no jalepenos, but the house sauce is what makes the omelette so awesome) Also, the service is stellar. There was a man working as a server, but I'm pretty sure he's the owner - regardless, he was absolutely delightful. I wanted to give this place a chance- seemed like a busy no thrills mom and pop type of place and the reviews on Yelp were raving about it. I don't understand where the positive reviews are coming from. While the service was ok, food was underwhelming. Husband ordered Ribeye Steak and eggs, while I chose Chorizo Omelette. They say if the restaurant is full and people are waiting, it is usually good. This was correct with D'licious Caffe in Reno. Located in a small strip-mall with plenty of parking makes it easy to get in and out of. Welcomed by a friendly employee our name was added to the list and after a short wait, we were seated and immediately had our beverage order taken. The menu was vast with additional options. It did not take too long for my wife to decide on the chicken and soup and I decided on the omelette. Not a long wait for our food to be delivered, meanwhile the server made sure my coffee and water was filled. Portions were a perfect size for just about everyone and we left very happy. My wife's soup was flavorful, chicken was moist and seasoned just right. My omelette was filled with items and filled the plate. Egg was cooked just right. Tortillas were fresh and warm. We found this little cafe by chance; and we want to come back for lunch and dinner. The aromas draw you in from the parking lot. When we walked in it was full so we walked out and the manager quickly came out greeted us and assured us we would have a seat within 10-15 minutes. So we decided to wait. SO glad we did. I like to support local business instead of chain food restaurants, especially during Covid-19. So we decided to give this place a try while visiting Reno. We called to confirm they were open and to be added to the waiting list. The lady was really sweet and added us to the list and said it will be about a 10-15 min wait. I said perfect, we will be there in 5. I sent my husband in to check in and the nice young lady who answered the phone said maybe another 10 mins. Then an older man stepped in and cut her off and said no it will be another 25 mins. So I went in and hubby stayed in the car with the kids. She told me another 15. The table became ready in 10. But they weren't seating us. Interesting I thought. Meanwhile, I had a horrible experience in the waiting area. Everyone was social distancing with mask, then one guy walk in with no mask and stands right next to me. Within elbow room. I politely ask him for 6 feet, he replies "I'm not facing you, so idk y it would matter." It was at that moment when things went left. I told him "idgaf 6 ft is 6 feet." I think he caught my drift Just then I noticed our table was cleaned, called the hubby to bring the kids in, and the rude guy who cut the nice young lady off earlier called to seat us, at least I thought he did. As we started walking he said "no not your family, the people aka ignorant asshole next to you." I told him we were before them. That was the perfect time for the nice lady to step up and say, " yes, they called and were on the list before them." She didn't. She instead, let the lady with the asshole say "no they weren't here before us." After waiting roughly 35 mins our family decided that with the racism we were experiencing, let us not eat here. Oh, it was 6 of us, black family. And 3 white folks, total with the "ignorant asshole." Little did they know, my hubby and I tip 30 to 100%. Their loss. Now, on to the chain food restaurant, where service is usually their first priority, us and our children r hella hungry. Mom and pops shops, step yo game up during this time. The only reason I have not given this place 5-stars is because the toast was dry, and the bacon only half-done; although to their credit they do serve the thin sliced bacon and not that thick sliced tough stuff. Bacon and hash browns are not included in the price. Otherwise the food was good; the servers pleasant and courteous, and the omelet was humungous! I will be going back again. read more
