What a gem. Great combination of tastes. Dining on the patio was a treat on a beautiful summer night. Friendly owner and great staff. read more

Food is great. Warm welcome by owner whose wife is the chef. On Saturday night can be loud. I love the place.

My typical attitude towards Baltimore restaurants remains highly critical. Cypriana has restored my faith in Baltimore's dining scene. The pita bread is extraordinary. You would have to go to Kings Highway in Brooklyn to find anything on par. The olives were exquisite. Creamy and wonderfully spiced hummus. The beef kabob was ever so tender. The felafel without a doubt the best in Baltimore. Super tasty cucumber salad. Fabulous service and always with a smile. The owner greets every table personally. The only mild criticism was the $10 chocolate dessert. Served in a flute glass made it difficult to share. I plan on going back very soon. There isn't a restaurant in Greek town that even comes close. Great atmosphere and clean restrooms topped off a lovely evening. Tremendous date spot that should result in excellent after dinner sex. Pack the Trojan's! read more

I met a friend there for lunch today. We live a few blocks away and really anticipated the opening of Cyrianna with great expectations. Alas, our hopes were not realized. There was nothing in our experience today that invites a return trip. Really sad. We had hoped for an additional neighborhood restaurant to which we could just walk over and enjoy a meal. We have been in Greece and Turkey more than a dozen times. There was nothing in our brunch that reminded us of either place. 1. The opening time on the website was incorrect. They opened at 12, not at 11 as stated. The chef asked us to just enjoy the place and so we sat and waited for 20 minutes until they opened. When I noted that there were errors on their website, she took no responsibility but told us that web designers/graphic designers are incompetent. 2. There was no lunch menu. It was the first day of Sunday brunch. 3. There were no menus for brunch either - only a photocopied page on which items were written with a sharpie with prices next to the, item --- some prices crossed out. VERY unprofessional. What is the kitchen like if the menu is so amature-ish? 4. There was no explanation as to what these items were or how they would be served. 5. The service was appallingly slow, although the restaurant was empty. 6. The spinach/feta fritata was baked and server in a cast iron ramekin about 3 inches in diameter. The eggs were burnt on the bottom. Fritata itself was not spiced or even salted and peppered. Two grape tomatoes were placed on the serving plate next to a slightly warmed pita - not the puffed pita I was expecting. Very disappointing and barely edible. It was clear to us that Cyrianna is not really ready to serve guests, at least not today. They should have opened when it was actually ready. I went home to eat something for lunch since the tiny 3 inch burnt fritata was not adequate. With the R House open on 29th Street just a few blocks away, Cyrianna should gets its act together. Baltimore is a real foodie town. Between great eateries in Hampden and the R House, there is fierce competition. Early missteps can be overlooked, but in the long run, a restaurant will be measured by how well it serves its client base. Thus far, Cyrianna has not risen to the occasion. read more

Another fantastic evening at Cypriana. Delicious, Mediterranean cuisine, expertly crafted by Chef Maria. You cannot leave this place without experiencing the Mediterranean salad appetizer, which is a creative a delightful combination of individually plated Mediterranean salads served with light and fluffy pita, seasoned to perfection. Another dish not to be missed is the falafel ball appetizer, which is comprised of 5 large falafel, which are fried, but don't let that prevent you from experiencing this amazing dish. The falafel will literally melt in your mouth and you will fantasize about it after you leave. Tonight we shared the portobello mushroom and lamb chop entrees, which were cooked to perfection. The stuffed grape leaves (with a beef and lamb mixture) are absolutely delicious, and the Moussaka is the best we have ever tasted. Every dish is more amazing than the next, with each entry spectacularly good, and the service is impeccable. Go with a larger group and order many dishes to share so you have the opportunity to taste it all. And don't leave without ordering the pistachio witsea salt baklava. Simply exquisite. Baltimore is lucky to have such a great, authentic Mediterranean restaurant in our midst. read more

We went back with friends and I was pleased to see they have expanded their menu to include "Street Food". These are a collection of Gyro's, Falafels, and other meats in Pita Bread. Based on the appearance of the items served from this menu and the enthusiasm of those diners that chose these, they were a hit. I was going back and forth between a Gyro and their crab cakes, and chose the latter. While I was pleased with the quality and quantity of the crab, I don't know that I would call them 'cakes". Basically I was served 2 mounds of jumbo lump crab meat (no fillers) with their signature sauce. The sauce tasted like a light mayo sauce with spices. Again, good, but if you are used to premium crab cakes that are in abundance in Baltimore, you might be disappointed. But the reason my review changed from 5 stars to 4 was the portion size out dinner guests were severed from their choices. Both the beef kebab and the Octopus portions were very small, and with little else on the plate they seemed even smaller. Cypriana is located near Hopkins main campus, and they no doubt need to keep their prices low enough to attract students. But the pita wrapped street food should fill that niche. I would suggest raise some of the prices and give a better sized portion of items such as Kebabs. We will be back, and I am anxious to try the Pita items. read more

Definite yes!! Quite possibly one it the best dining experiences I have had in the Baltimore area. Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was exceptional!! Make sure to get the Greek coffee, out of this world good! Convenient, well priced (under priced really) and free parking in the lot across the street. Will definitely be back!! read more

I think this place has good food and a GREAT STAFF the waitress are young but super helpful and courteous. The place looks trendy and clean which makes it cozy. The food I would recommend the tenderloin is pretty well cooked and delicious. It has parking across the street. I gave them 5 stars cause even it is a bit pricey the portions are well sized so you pay for what you get or if you are a little bit out of cash you can share and because the restrooms were CLEAN. Enjoy the ambient and the food. Also the owners are checking up on everything so you can tell you'll get good service. Thanks for a good evening. read more

Nice location. I will not return. For the money spent it should if been stellar service. The food was just ok needed more seasoning, maybe more than one skewer for an entree or maybe something else on the skewer other than the protein, portions are super small for an entree. Served with a handful of fries and cucumber salad. The lavender cocktail was good.Owners husband just randomly hangs out near your table without introducing himself. There is a proper way to introduce yourself to a table. There was also a sign for a 20% automatic gratuity added to the bill because of virus. They made it a automatic 20% gratuity for the wait staff(I have no problem with), make it worthwhile for the customer too who's using their money at your restaurant it should be worth it on both ends. I shouldn't of left hungry after spending right under$200. read more

The food is great and the servers all seem nice. Though I overheard some guy who seemed to be involved somehow in the business telling someone else there to fire people. First of all whoever you are don't come in off the street and fire people also I couldn't see anything that any of the staff did that would merit them to be fired. If you don't like what wait staff is doing then train them don't fire them. And also if you are coming in to eat as this person did and You are being rude and disrespectful to the staff in such a way that I can see your rudeness as a customer coming in to eat then something is wrong with you. Obviously you know nothing about restaurant business and should shut up. read more

No joke when I drop the 5 star rating. I tried Cypriana for the first time with a big group of friends. We all had varying tastes and there were a couple of vegetarians in our group so we ordered a huge variety of dishes and shared, so I got to taste a lot, and it was all delicious. It's rare in these situations to enjoy every single dish. If anything, the portions were on the small side, but I could tell that the food was hand crafted and frankly I don't like big portions as they usually are masking a lack of real flavor. Service was excellent. This is my most recommended restaurant right now. read more

The food is divine!!! The decor is bright and open, very welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive. The owner recommended the salad and dips for our starter and I heartily recommend it as well. The evening we dined there, the special was seafood chowder, a rich flavorful tomato based chowder with jumbo lump crab and octopus. Delicious. My sister's entree of grilled octopus was delightfully tender and well seasoned. The accompanying couscous was wonderful. read more

Fun restaurant and good food. Were asked exactly five times if we were done eating and could our plates be cleared, when we both literally had forks in hand and food in our mouths... the first time shortly after we had received our entrees! 4 times by our server, and once by a young lady--we had no idea who she was or why she was asking us. Very disruptive. Wondering if servers are pressured to keep moving people along and out the door. We appreciated the attentiveness, but felt like we were being harassed while we were trying to eat. Definitely put a damper on the evening. read more

I don't really write reviews, but I HAD TO today after visiting Cypriana, because I want them to attract more customers to stay in business! We had Lamb Rib Chops and Portabella melt flatbread. It was amazing and I could definitely tell that the ingredients here were super fresh and high-quality. The tabouli salad that came with the lamb chops were very delicious too. Apparently everything is fresh-made in the kitchen here including all the sauce. The portions are rather small, which I don't mind at all given the quality of the food. Cypriana definitely feels like your mom's homemade food with healthy and fresh ingredients. Besides the amazing Greek food, the atmosphere of this restaurant is also super cool. Clean and modern. It doesn't feel like Baltimore. Everyone at this restaurant was all smiley and kind which made our day! If you are looking for great service and even greater food in this area, definitely try Cypriana! :) I wish it was not so hidden in the residential area. Hope it becomes more popular! read more

Truly a wonderful place to spend the evening. The owner makes you feel like you are part of his family. There are small plates were enough for me as I had a wonderful tenderloin kabob. Wonderful appetizers and a very good happy hour. We will return shortly read more

We were looking for vegetarian food late on a Sunday night and kept striking out until a quick Yelp search showed us this gem. We phoned in an order about 3 minutes before the kitchen closed without any problem. When we picked it up the owner was super friendly, I felt like I was back in Crete. He even gave us free baklava because he said that many people told him that it was the best they ever had and he wanted us to experience it. He was not wrong! It was flaky and moist at the same time, and you could taste the saltiness of the butter and the sweetness of the honey. Yum! Everything else was equally delicious too! We had the spinach and feta flat bread, the tomato and feta flat bread, grilled egg plant, grilled haloumi, mougendra, and for dessert the Kataifi lemon curd. The kitchen also threw in some kind of cucumber mint salad that was super yummy, especially with the tzakiki sauce. The lemon curd was everything I want in a dessert! So light and refreshing and not too sweet! We can't wait to go back and dine in! read more

I have never before been served "saganaki" as four bite sized pieces of what seemed like tofu on a balsamic drizzle. All in all, the food was not Cypriot, the service was painful and the lamb was very over cooked. I wish it were different as in my experience good Cypriot food can only be found in Cyprus or at Christo's in Minneapolis. read more

Everything is Delicious!!!! I came here for my 39th Birthday with my sis Lin and let me tell you this place is sooooo good. Everything we had was yummy and fresh. I don't eat a lot of food and this place was great cause they serve small plates you get to try a bit of everything but not feel over stuff and heavy at the end. I had the Hummus and fresh pita which was so smooth and flavorful then we had the Falafel which had a sauce with it that they need to bottle it was so good light crisp and just the right size then I had the musaika not sure I spelled that correct but it's layers of eggplant tomato lamb and potato in a rich sauce with just the right amount of nutmeg so good we finished the night off with I don't know what it's called but it's like a puffy donut that was dip in simple syrup and had crush pistachio on top came out warm just perfect not sticky sweet just the right amount of airiness little bit of a crunch YUM. All the food was great and I will be back with hubby. Oh also had their version of a Mojito that was really good and refreshing can't Waite for the next time we go back I want to try the Lamb Shank so glade my sis introduced me to this gem. read more

We had a lot to celebrate and Cypriana was the perfect choice of venue. Chef Maria and her husband are so warm and gracious and the food is outstanding. My husband said we had an adventure in dining! All four of us loved everything we tried and from appetizers to dessert each dish was sensational. We cannot wait to return and we know it will be like going back to visit with good friends. Great, great evening out! read more

I have lived in Baltimore for around a year and have never heard of it until an event I had to go to went there for a reception and I am so disappointed i did not hear of it soon. The food is extremely good and it feels like home cooking. The flavors are clean and honest and eating in the restaurant feels like you've gone home and your mom made you a comfort meal. The entire staff at Cypriana's makes you feel at home too as the head chef and the manager will visit you and check on you. The pita bread comes out warm and the hummus pairs with it really well. I think I ate at least five whole pita breads! The salmon and beef are incredible and the spinach hand pies were amazing and flaky. The best part of tambers? The dessert. I've been to hundreds of places and eaten hundreds of desserts but I am not lying when I say they had one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. Their donuts sent me to a new world and I paused for ten seconds after eating it i awe. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend. read more

Ate here last night (Sunday) with my two cousins from out of town; I've been a loyal customer of Maria's ever since she and her husband started their food truck downtown so I was extremely excited to try their new restaurant venture. Let me tell you they did not disappoint!! Such a warm inviting atmosphere and truly outstanding food. The grape leaves, salad sampler, and dessert (some kind of yeast donut? Can't remember the name) were especially great. Only thing is it was almost empty so atmosphere wasn't very lively, but I think that's just because it was late and a Sunday. All in all a great experience and will definitely be back!!! read more

Our favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Family-owned and operated, and they treat us like family too. Their service and food are second to none. read more

I love this place because it offers a wide selection of food even if you don't love very adventurous foods such as,flatbreads that are almost like pizza also, meatballs that have a citrusy taste. The desserts were also very good with little doughnut holes with pistachio on top and a sweet glaze. Additionally, the owner himself stops by and asks you how the food is. This place has a cozy atmosphere and you can treat yourself to a mint before you leave. I highly recommend this place for kids and adults! read more

I loved Cypriana when they first opened. Back than you could order "street food", and I would order a Gyro while my wife enjoyed the falafel. But I understood when they moved the street food to lunchtime only. The rent in this building is likely very high due to it's proximity to John's Hopkins University, so I suspect they needed higher ticket, more profitable entrees on the dinner menu. No problem, I would order the appetizer salads And shrimp skewers. The quality, or the preparation of the shrimp have disappointed me the last 2 times I was here. On my last visit the shrimp was so chewy I had to cut them into slivers so I could eat then, and they lacked that delicious flavor I remembered from visits in the past. I know they cab do better - I was at a group dinner served buffet style a few years back and thought everything I tried was great! This might have been a 4 star review despite the shrimp issue, if it weren't for a conversation with the owner/cook when we were contemplating dessert. I mentioned my severe dairy allergy, and she told me I could have their home made Baklava, because she uses clarified butter, so the milk protein is cooked put. No, no,no, you cannot cook out casin!!!!!. I did have their dairy free rose water Chocolate cake, and recommend that as a dairy free dessert read more

They have by far the best Cyprus ( like greek ) food in Baltimore. Maria is the quintessential chef - she really cares about her food. And during these times, you can get carryout ( must pickup- she doesn't feel delivery services will get you the food quickly) so order on line. Its a great meal . read more

The food was great! The owner greeted us at the door and made sure we were taken care of. We will definitely be back.

What a nice experience. I've never been to a restaurant where the owners spent so much time visiting with the guests to make sure everything was ok. The food was fantastic. Our waitress did a great job of explaining the menu. We had the hummus, 3 small plates and 3 large plates which we were all able to share. The pita bread was fresh and warm. The octopus was hands down the best I have ever had. The crab cakes had zero filler and were full of flavor. The lamb shank special was fall of the bone tender. Drinks were generous and we didn't break the bank. The free parking in the lot across the street was a huge plus. I can't wait to go back. read more

I went to Cypriana for my Big Birthday. I was surprised when I ordered spinach and cheese pie and what I received 4 small triangles that you can buy at Target in the freezer section. Cypriana was amazing! My husband and I went for the first time last night and it will definitely be one we visit often from now on! The patio outside is secluded and quiet with great ambiance so we sat out there. The food was delicious and so authentic! We ordered a ton of stuff, their menu is great for tapas style sharing but also could be done individually as well. We loved the stuff grapes leaves, hummus, grilled octopus, falafel, and the baklava was to die for. The service was great too. It's a family owned restaurant so you could tell the servers were all going above and beyond to make sure all guests were taken care of and happy. Love this place! read more
