    Chicken Gyro Pita Wrap
    Kiera W.

I enjoyed my chicken gyro and fries. The food was freshly prepared and plentiful! The gyro certainly got a bit messy so I appreciated having a knife and fork while enjoying. The service was okay, very quiet and not much interaction with staff outside of ordering.

I ordered for pick up at this place and wow, the inside was so clean. The workers had the food ready within 12 minutes. We ordered a falafel wrap, gyro pita wrap, fries, and spanakopita. The good news: The wraps were amazing! Bursting with flavor and I truly think they came with a lot of meat for $12. The bad news: the fries were soggy and the spanakopita wasn't as crispy. I still gave this place 5 stars because they did have a disadvantage. I ordered it for takeout so the food could've gotten less crispy due to the time. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to friends and family! Excited to come back and try more!

Beef and lamb gyro w/ feta cheese, lettuce and tomato; tzatziki sauce on the side

Went to this place a couple of weeks ago and ordered a gyro and it really good. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later; my husband ordered another one for me and 5 minutes after ordering it, they handed him the gyro. He was alil suspicious, but it looked ok so he paid. Upon getting it home and taking about 3 bites, I IMMEDIATELY started feeling weird. Stop eating it and had gotten really sick. Had chills and vomiting all that evening. Needless to say, I had gotten food poisoning and will NEVER eat at this place again EVER! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful with this restaurant

Tried the gyro (lamb and beef) pita wrap tonight and it was super good!! I had high expectations coming in from seeing all of the raving reviews and it did not disappoint. The pita wrap was super soft and the amount of ingredients inside tasted fresh and there was also plenty of meat. They definitely do not skimp out on the quantity and quality here. Inside, there are a few tables inside if you choose to sit inside. There's also outdoor seating available. Ordering was super easy as well. If you're looking to try to Greek food, definitely come visit this local business!

Excellent food, great service, plenty of space: Mr. Souvlaki is truly a diamond in the rough. I especially love the Greek fries, avgolemono soup, and shrimp skewer. I've also thoroughly enjoyed every single desert option I've tried. Plus it's an authentic local neighborhood restaurant, what more could you ask for? A rare gem.

I stopped at lunch time just to sample the food at Mr. Suvlaki. I ordered a traditional gyro which is made with shaved pork. I learned that lamb and beef gyros are an American adaptation of the original Greek dish. I also ordered dolmades which were nearly the best I have ever tasted. I was greeted by a very nice young lady who was a good sport about my being me. She stated that they've been in business in the Forest Hill location for about 22 years. They offer quite a selection of olives and olive oils. The remainder of the place is just a cleaned up version of the previous business. I want to encourage all you foodies in Perry Hall to come out and try Mr Souvlaki. They deserve your business and Perry Hall deserves another great restaurant.

This place is seriously underrated. We almost let the Yelp reviews scare us away, but I'm glad we…read moregave it a chance. The iced coffee was amazing, the beef pho had a rich flavorful broth, and the hu tieu was excellent too. The customer service was actually great -- the owners are older Vietnamese people and you can tell it's a small family-run restaurant. They're not rude at all, just older and probably handling a lot themselves. I think some people mistake that for bad service when it's really just a more traditional environment. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food made with care, this spot is definitely worth trying.

Some Context: As someone who's of Vietnamese descent and…read morelives in Southern California (home to the most Vietnamese outside of Vietnam), I have had some of the best pho in North America. I knew going in that having pho anywhere else would probably be disappointing, but I always hope for a pleasant surprise. The Food: I can only comment on what I ordered: pho dac biet (special combo pho with rare steak slices, well-done brisket, flank tendon, and and tripe). Taste wise it was ... alright. The noodles were standard, the meats were good, and the tendon was delicious. The problem was that the broth was kinda bland, lacking the delicate mix of herbs and seasonings that a good bowl of pho should have. And anyone who enjoys noodle soups knows that if the broth doesn't cut it, the whole meal suffers. Don't get me wrong, the other pho ingredients were quality, but the bland broth was a let down. The Cost: The bigger letdown were the prices, which had me saying, "What the pho?!" My combo bowl was $27. That would be an outrageous price for pho in Southern California (where prices have skyrocketed), so you could imagine my "sticker shock." And the costs for the other entrees ranged from $14 to $20. While the portions were large, I'm not sure the quality justified the price. The Drink: I had a caphe sua da (or Vietnamese iced coffee) and was, again, not impressed. It tasted like it came from either a concentrate or instant coffee instead of being made in a phin, a type of slow-drip metal filter, before the condensed milk was added. Again, not a bad coffee, but the price didn't justify the average taste. The Service: The two employees were fast and friendly. They didn't check on us at all after delivering the food (standard operating procedure for most Asian restaurants), but the fact that they were polite and seemed like they cared is a big plus for a Vietnamese establishment. The Atmosphere: The restaurant was clean, spacious, and modern. Meanwhile, the bathroom was shockingly decent and well stocked. Again, two aspects that were a pleasant surprise for a Vietnamese restaurant. The Conclusion: If you're new to pho and want to be impressed, don't go here. If you're familiar with pho, need a quick fix, and don't mind paying a premium, this place will do.

I personally enjoyed all of these dishes as a Chinese American, whereas my parents who grew up in China and Hong Kong did acknowledge that it is not very authentic. Definitely targeted for the American/western palate but still tasty nonetheless. My favorite was the eggplant and the string beans. The walnut shrimp was very good too, but a little too much breading.
