When we find a new restaurant we like, we want to share it with our friends which we did on three weekends in a row.
On a Sunday, Sept 6, we met a friend for dinner. It was a quiet evening at the restaurant, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our servers were new and learning the ropes, which we understand. The restaurant was out of several items that we wanted to try, which was disappointing. We did suggest that they start off by telling their guests what they are out of on the menu when they hand them the menus. I decided to try the Mutsava, an aromatic meat soup with rice, chickpeas, vegetable and herbs. I found the soup to be quite delicious and different from anything I had ever tasted before. My husband ordered the Shrimp, which was marinated shrimp grilled with garlic, lemon and herbs with a salad - and he made it a platter with mashed potatoes. Our friend had the Lamb Shish Kebab that also came with a salad, and she also made it a platter with the homemade potatoes. She said her lamb was cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed our dinners.
The following Saturday, Sept 12, we came again with another couple. RT, our server, took excellent care of us. They had everything on the menu this time, which was great. Both of our husbands ordered the Azure Signature Plov. This is a traditional, Central Asian, rice pilaf slow-cooked with tender beef, carrots, onion and aromatic spices. They both said the beef was very tender and delicious. I enjoyed a bowl of the Lentil soup that was velvety lentils that had been simmered with vegetables and Mediterranean spices and pureed. It was tasty and different. Our friend decided on the Beef Tenderloin Shish, that was a premium beef tenderloin cooked to her specification (medium), marinated and grilled over charcoal that came served with a salad - and she made it a platter with grilled vegetables. The desserts sounded so good, we decided to try 3. We ordered the Pistachio Baklava - layers of crisp phyllo, pistachios and fragrant syrup, and two Chocolate Temptation cakes - layers of rich chocolate cake and silky mousse. Oh my, we were in dessert heaven! We all commented that we so enjoyed being at this restaurant as it was so quiet, that we could have great conversations and we enjoyed the background music because it was instrumental and not music with words.
This past Saturday, Sept 19, we met 4 other couples for dinner. The owner, Shahboz, saw to our every need. We reserved a table that could accommodate the 10 of us. It was a square table with bench seating and it was perfect. Even though the restaurant was packed with customers, we were able to have conversations. We enjoyed the following entrees: four Beef Tenderloin Shish Kebabs, one Lamb Shish Kebab, one Lamb Chops, two Osso Buco, and two Azure Signature Plov. Two of the couples ordered the Chocolate Temptation and the Pistachio Baklava for dessert and were thoroughly pleased. We really liked the fact that they offer BYOB with no corkage fee. Everyone was very impressed with the décor and the food. Thank you so much for all of our great dining experiences. read more
