Every time I go to pick up a prescription the folks who work the register are very friendly and professional. It took us 3 weeks to get my kid's medication. That happens it had to be ordered. To be greeted by the hostility of the pharmacist who was very defensive was uncalled for. Today on a different prescription, I just got another epic experience. A new med I had never taken before. I kept on getting warnings in the CVS app. I googled the meds I currently take, and it said that it would interact to not take them together. Upon picking up I ask the pharmacist. She says it's fine. Then when it's time to check me out, the computer has all these warnings and she back pedals saying I should not take them together. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? read more

I have never experienced such rude and incompetent behavior from a pharm tech. I went in to pick up my prescription and she tells me nothing came in and then tells me it's not covered by insurance. Then takes her mask off, gets as close to my face as possible, and tells me it's over $400 so I should go call my insurance company. Her intimidation tactics and attitude seems off so I ask to talk to the pharmacist. The pharmacist tells me that the prescription DID come and it is closer to $100. This female pham tech's attitude through the whole process, incompetence, and absolute lack of attention to detail makes her a liability. CVS Orinda has been our primary pharmacy for the last 15 years. Each and every pharmacist working there is doing their absolute best to be as responsive and timely with refills, vaccines, and everything else as they can. They've had a ton of additional volume thrown at them with the closure of Rite Aid. I personally think they've handled it really well. Some of the more long-term, tenured staff are incredibly helpful and always at the ready to do anything above and beyond that they can. Kathy in particular is outstanding! RightAid, my favorite Orinda pharmacy recently went out of business and this CVS bought all the prescriptions. Since then, it's been hell! First, they will under no circumstances pick up their phone. Second, the pharmacy employs some of the rudest people on earth! So, "screw you" if you have a complaint, tell it to the wall, next in line! Now I'm forced to find another pharmacy farther from home where people don't mistake Orinda with Calcutta! I am also enrolled in CVS Extra Bucks program, which I rarely use anyway. In incessant emails, CVS begs me to come in and spend money almost everyday. And they have large posters claiming what a "privilege" it is to serve me as a customer! And yet, when you do shop there, the pharmacy staff are some of the most entitled people I have ever met! I am now going to move my prescription to another pharmacy, cancel that $5 extra bucks scam, and boycott CVS for the horrible outfit that it is! Zero stars if I could! read more

This place is literally disgusting. The walls are falling down and there are cobwebs all over. It's a hard to trust a pharmacy to be sterile and clean when it's surrounded with dust. TERRIBLE customer service. Was hung up on, when I called back I was told even though the shipment containing my medication came in at noon I had to come back after 5 because they have too much to do. Not to mention the actual medication was ready a day earlier but they didn't have a basic spacer to use with an inhaler so now on second day without my meds. When I asked why they didn't call another CVS to let me get the spacer somewhere else again I was told they get over 1,000 Rx a day so they don't have time. Other CVS do this (call to find meds) without being asked. If staff really is that busy and overwhelmed I feel for them but then where is their management to ensure they are appropriately staffed to meet customer needs? I wish I could give this Pharmacy any number below ZERO. Short on providing full prescription pills 28 or less instead of 30 pills. Customer service with no greeting, not informative just give the prescriptions and leave. Today, the pharmacist and the aid were threatened me why? I receive a quote for a prescribed Medicine which my insurance does not cover. Out of pocket over $90.00. I came in person picked the medicine and sure enough I was charged 1/3 of what I was quoted. No complains after all I paid less however I wanted to understand why? Do I have the right? Yes I do! The pharmacist explained me that she applied a coupon and that is why the paid price was lower. I asked the pharmacist why I was not told yesterday about it and the reduced price after a coupon? My question triggered the aid and she join the conversation. I reply back that I am talking with the pharmacist and not with her. Oh boy a whole story that they ask me to leave at once the store. Why? Harassment! Living over 20 years in Orinda, a customer since Longs were the best of the best and now to call the police on me? Well dear CVS management, pharmacists and aids my time and money worth much more and no thank you for your service! I am going to switch all of my family prescriptions over to a small pharmacy in town and save yourself from contacting me, cause this time it will turn into you harassing me. The front desk checkout people are awesome but the pharmacy guy (James) should find another job. He is rude - often won't let you pay for non pharmacy products at the pharmacy and when you show up and the store is empty and your prescription isn't ready (even though it is supposed to be) he tells you you'll have to wait an hour. I think it's his idea of a power play. This precedes Covid. I finally got around to writing this review after one time too many. read more

Love coming into to buy just a few items like sour cream or gum instead of going to Safeway. This pharmacy is terrible at inventory management. I have gone in to pick up prescription refills on at least five occasions only to be told the are out of stock. These are not new prescriptions so I would expect a plan to fill known orders. It's disappointing at best. For some medications it would be devastating. read more

Review #004 - 2017 I don't usually shop at CVS, but on the few occasions that I have, it's because either Safeway or Rite Aid didn't have what I needed--and I do end up finding those items here. I've used the pharmacy twice because I needed to pick up my daughter's prescription and it was very quick. I didn't have to wait in a long line, the one good thing that came from our company switching over from Kaiser to Anthem Blue. I remember always having to wait in a long line with Kaiser so thank you current employer! Plus, it's super close to my house! When I called in to get my daughter's prescription refill, they were able to get it filled within a few hours, even though I didn't have a chance to come by and pick it up for a few days since it was right after Christmas and before New Year's so I was extremely busy. read more

Poor customer service. I tried to use a coupon I received in my email but was told I could not do so because the item I was purchasing was a buy one and get one at 50% off. I did not need two items and only wanted one. When I tried to use the coupon I was told I could not because the item had a buy one get one deal. it did not make any sense to me. Just a FYI, target had a buy one and get one deal on the same item I was trying to purchase at CVS AND only bought one item and was able to use a coupon they offered as well. poor poor customer service at CVS read more

The staff here are friendly and very helpful. Although they have a bare bones selection of items, they accommodate CVS coupons to the best of their ability, with what they do have in stock. This location is a convenient stop for me since parking is easy to find and I can hit up several other merchants within a one block radius for all of my other errands. read more

They came through for me when I really needed it. I had a child with a fever who needed some children's Advil. I thought they were open later than they actually were. I called them as I was getting off the Bay Bridge and told them I was going to arrive in an Uber within 12 minutes - they stayed open for me so I could grab some medicine for my sick little girl.
