The only thing I ever put in my hair is Air Dry Cream. Without it, my hair is so puffy and frizzy that I actually look insane. It looks like I just got electrocuted. I was fresh out of the liquid gold, and didn't want to wait 5 days for shipping so I tried my luck at CVS to see if they had any. I thought there was no way they would, and I'd have to swallow my pride and walk into a Sephora, which is arguably my least favorite retail store in the country. It's chemical warfare on my nostrils every time I walk in there. I was scouring every shelf of the hair section of this CVS, my expectations in the gutter. It was right when I was about to give up hope, sorting through an array of gels, holding creams, dry shampoo, and hairspray, when I saw my night in shining armour. Not friendly. Cashier lady says she's the manager but not willing to help or investigate. I tried to pay using my union pay bank card and was turned down. I know many other CVS stores who accept Union Pay, including this one, when this lady was not working. It's amazing how one poor employee can poison the whole place. read more

People like her can completely ruin your day and waste your time. This review is for the Minute Clinic. It should be called the 30-Minute clinic, and that's being generous. I made an appointment for a flu shot. It was confirmed. I called an hour before to re-confirm and the pharmacy (and a phone rep) told me that they didn't have the vaccine at this location despite having confirmed an appointment--but they were not sure what was going on since the systems weren't communicating. I went to check it out in person, 5 minutes in advance of my scheduled time, and was told the wait for my confirmed appointment at the "minute" clinic, would be 28 minutes after the scheduled time. In the meantime, no one could tell me if after waiting 28 minutes they would have the actual vaccine. I was told to wait by a closed door, which would remain closed for 28 minutes. Glad I arrived on time and was respectful of their procedures. If you have tons of time to waste and don't mind doing it in low-budget surroundings, make an appointment here. If you value your time, even a little, look elsewhere. read more

I don't think this pharmacy could be run by less competent people. 80% of the time I have to get my doctor to call in the prescription a second time, and when it does finally go through it usually takes them +1 day to fill it. 100% of the time the people that work the counter are eating chips and are on their phones, not really caring about the line. I originally had my prescriptions filled here out of convenience but have since moved a couple of extra blocks and the time I have saved is well worth it. read more

I keep it real. I am here like almost every single day. I live a couple of blocks away, and this CVS is very conveniently located. I get off on bleecker street and past right by this on my way home. I come here to get hair products, nail polish, cleaning supply, and everything else I need for my house. Very convenient location. I love how friendly the staff is. They are always willing and ready to help. A great plus is they are open 24/7 and even when it snows they are open! This is a great welcoming location. This CVS has been great since moving into the neighborhood not too long ago. It is the 7-Eleven a little further from where I stay, but with a lot more products. There is also a lot less entertainment. Meaning there are no typical unexpected occurrences like customers throwing Debbie cakes at the employees, random people shouting even more random things out loudly, and the employees chasing those same customers out the door with box cutters. Great pick-ups are the CVS brand sparkling water, CVS brand candy (yeah I'm a gummi bear addict), and other things that go on/off of sale all the time. They put you into compromising situations like forcing you to buy more soda than you want. Please tell me how I am suppose to pick up the small 20 oz Pepsi for nearly $2.00 to make a quick happy concoction at home when you have the 2 liter Pepsi for $0.75. Nah, I kid. Thanks CVS! More happy concoctions! Plus, the staff has always been friendly, helpful and patience. My most recent visit was for a couple gallons of water in preparation for Juno. I already thought it was ridiculous but only went because my mother and cousin were going to have a fit if I didn't have enough water to put out a forest fire. Nevertheless, I was very happy for the visit. I learned two things. One, CVS was stocked with just about everything you could possibly need. ...ever. I'd walked down past two Whole Foods, K-Mart, Trader Joe's, and Westside Market which were all completely packed. Two, I said just about everything. Disappointing. I sometimes stop here on my way to work to buy 2-liter sodas to keep in the office. Unfortunately, this store doesn't always have the flavors or varieties I like and I wind up having to pay more elsewhere. But my biggest complaint is with the self-service checkouts. As I mentioned, I stop here on my way to work in the morning, and I need to be in-and-out as quickly as possible so that I can catch a downtown M55 bus and get to my job on time. My experience has been that the M55 runs on an erratic schedule; even during the morning rush, there have been times where if I miss one bus I might have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. How is that relevant? The last time I was at this CVS, when I was ready to pay there were three unused self-service checkouts available. But I couldn't use any of them because they were all credit cards only, and I wanted to pay with cash. So I had to wait on line for the one cashier, which ate up time that I really couldn't afford to waste. Unacceptable! We may wind up living in a cashless society someday, but that someday ain't today. read more

This is the last CVS I have shopped in however this review is about this chain in general. The constantly send emails with offers and coupons to add to your card. This of course is done to get you into the store. They also email reminders that you have these offers on your card. At least half the time I try to use a coupon and it no longer is valid even though it hasn't yet expired or it just never made it to the card even though it said it did. Neither the cashiers or managers will do anything to give the discount either because they don't want to or they are completely incompetent. Calling customer service is a total waste of time. They have you holding on for an excessive amount of time and nothing ever gets resolved. The prices are high and they begrudge the discounts, id really give 0 stars based on this read more

It does not matter what time you are here, there is always a line of people waiting to checkout. Never have I gotten out of this store without waiting 10 minutes in line. Even if there are two people ahead of you, bring a book. The pharmacists are difficult and never pick up phone. CVS is normally my #1 choice for a drugstore because I love the coupons given, self- service checkout and the variety of products available. This CVS location annoys me, especially the pharmacy. The people that work at the pharmacy have a bad attitude, especially Charlene. It wouldn't kill anyone either if a smile was given once in a blue. I have a prescription on file and they give me the generic every time even though they swear there is a note in the system stating no generic form of my medication is suppose to be filled. Avoid at all costs. There are a billion other cvs and cvs type of places to go to instead in nyc, and this one will provide nothing but the worst, rudest customer service. The employees are uneducated on how their self checkout machines work and have no clue how their coupons should be applied. The employee I encountered today simply told me their machines don't accept their own coupons (the ones advertised directly on the pricing posted on their items) and hoped I would just leave it at that and asked me to step away so another person could check out (there were 2 other checkout machines open fyi) - no, I'm not paying full price on something that is supposed to be half off, I told her, calmly. She then started talking back to me blatantly in front of the manager when he came by to do the simple process of inputting a coupon. The manager asked her to step away but she kept yelling unintelligibly, very aggressively. It's unbelievable how they would hire people that clearly don't belong in customer service as they simply have no desire to work/help customers. Everyone at 49 Bleecker is thrilled to have a top level CVS in the neighborhood. Top level as in everything you could ever need, open 24/7. Food, cosmetics, home supplies from A to Z. And a happy, polite staff, ready to help with anything. Most important at a CVS? The Pharmacy. Joe, the Head of the Pharmacy, is kind, helpful and ready to assist in any and every way. My old 158 Bleecker CVS is good. This store? Splendid. My first day there, I needed 2 prescriptions after oral surgery and root canal. The Pharmacy didn't have one of the drugs in stock. I didn't tell Joe I needed to lie down and ice it. But he asked an assistant to walk and get the drug from another store. Almost literally "went the extra mile." It was a drug he was surprised to see out of stock. Any other CVS would say: "try our store at..." At best? They'd call the other store for me. I went home, walked my dog and didn't have to wait to phone the store because Joe sent me a text message within 15 minutes. Painkiller had arrived and the prescription would be filled within 5 minutes. And my nerve block was wearing off. This Pharmacy takes CVS into the 21st century with attention to customers like one would expect from an old-fashioned Chemist or Apothecary. Absolutely the best. This is the best CVS EVER. I have lived in this neighborhood since it opened and everyone who works there is SO NICE. They are saints. Customer service is above and beyond... I came in to purchase some items, since CVS just emailed a discount coupon to me. When I reached the register and had my items rung up, the full discount was not applied to my items. After some discussion with the checkout employee, a manager was summoned. The manager, Carmen, quickly searched the system for the discount offer, looked over my items, and applied the correct discount. She was very helpful. I was not expecting this kind of service.
