Didn't know which is fine but did not seem to want to help. Said to check downstairs. I asked a person downstairs and he said upstairs in the middle near the person I spoke to. I went there and near the counter to the side is a larger rack with umbrellas and ponchos. I took three then went to checkout and nicely told the woman where the rack is just in case others asked and she seemed to not care. I waited so she could check me out buy the person she was helping took longer and she didn't tell me the line started behind me to the left. I waited and waited meanwhile a customer walked up to the side where another person behind the counter stood with no people and she helped that customer instead. Never said she could help me. Another employee came to the counter and could have said he would take care of me but I wasn't sure if he was coming to help or do something else so I went to the line area. So he helps someone else instead even though he saw me standing there. WTF. Basic Communication would be nice. Poor service and very unmotivated people. read more

Kind of a cramped Duane Reade location bit has most of the bells and whistles. Upstairs is where the cashiers, refrigerated items are, and snacks. Escalator downstairs is where you'll find the pharmacy, household needs, greeting cards, and such. Being that it's compact I found what I needed quickly and left. read more

I purchased two items from the store, I asked the employee where is the items located, and she told me . But when I checked out, the cashier was watching the video from phone, didn't even make any eye contact with the customer. I was like that is the service that provide to their customers now? I have always preferred to get my prescription from Duane Reade but that has suddenly changed. The at 386 Fulton Street in Brooklyn is going down hill quickly. They are now placing telephone calls to busy so that they don't answer during the busy hours. I had a family member go observe what was going where no one could answer the phone. Yes, there were people waiting on line but at least tell the caller it's busy right now can you call back, The male pharmacist KHALID BOUZIRI IS VERY RUDE. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt that he just had a trying day but nothing works with him. Don't let me ask a question about the status of my pain medication he thinks everyone is an addict. Go see for yourself. The staff is very judgmental a little empathy would not hurt. I come here all the time on my lunch break for snacks and groceries. Normally the employees are pretty rude but it doesn't typically bother me that much lol. Today I just needed one item from behind one of the locked shelves, so I pressed the "need help?" Button and heard it say over the speaker that there was a request for help in my aisle. I waited for a while and it announced it again. Then like two more times. At that point it's been like five minutes and I need to get back to work, then I see one of the regular male employees walking very slowly in my direction. He sees me, then stops like five times in the candy aisle to just pick up random candy and look at it. At that point I'm annoyed, I need to get back to work and I assume he's just doing candy inventory or something lol, so I just start to walk over to the cash register, he then shouts that he's coming to help me, smirks and says "why did you give up?". I didn't answer, and he asked again. Felt weird and condescending so I just got my stuff and left. The afternoon shift has the worst vibes there, though there's some cashiers who are much older and are always kind. Gave an extra star because they always have the Snapple I want. read more

After you set foot in enough Duane Reades, you begin to know what to expect. Depending on the area you're in, it could be a relatively pleasant shopping experience or a grungy nightmare. With such disparity, you have to cling on to the good things about any specific branch to properly judge it. I am happy to say my experience at this location was a positive one. First, this location appears to be open either 24/7 or more than its fellow stores nearby. On Easter Sunday weekend, it felt like half the West Village had closed down. I had forgotten my headphones and I was heading to the gym. I figured I could duck into Best Buy to get a pair (nope, they were closed). Fortunately this DR was open! I purchased a pair of headphones and headed to the gym and...they literally broke right out of the packaging. I worked out without them and then headed back to the DR expecting a hassle with the return. Instead, the cashier was super efficient and didn't even blink when I told her they fell apart out of the box. For that, I was grateful. Overall this location was in good shape, not immaculate, but not filthy either. It rested in that middle zone that New Yorkers are willing to accept from their convenience stores. Well laid out store that appears to operate 24/7. There is an upstairs and downstairs. Like a typical Walgreens type store (they own DR), there aren't many associates working in the store. Customer service could be improved but other than that, it is a nice and convenient store. read more

I generally love Duane Reade, but this one loses points all around. The selection and service are very poor. I understand that since it is in Soho they are dealing with a lot of tourists, but the attitude of the pharmacists is awful. This is my local pharmacy, I am there all the time and they treat me like a stranger and never want to answer any questions. We have previously had great pharmacists, but they have all been moved to other locations. If I had another option I would use it. Walgreens needs to change the staffing here. read more

**One of my favorite Duane Reades in Manhattan!** Why? It's conveniently located in the heart of SoHo. This store is new and beautifully furnished, clean, spic-and-span, well-lit, and looks more like a grocery store/department store than an actual pharmacy. This pharmacy is two levels, with the pharmacy downstairs. The pharmacy staff here is also very friendly. I spoke with the pharmacist personally and she was really helpful, nice and pleasant. I was very impressed with their blood pressure monitor in the pharmacy area because it gives you a print out of your blood pressure reading. How high tech! That way people don't have to scramble finding a pen--they can just have their record printed out at the click of a button on the machine. It was really nifty :) I'm glad the Duane Reade is here because it's a great place to pick up a bottle of water for prices much cheaper than at the hot dog stands outside and the near by D&D. I like saving money, and this place allows me to do that. Now, coupled with great pharmacy staff... this Duane Reade is definitely win-win! read more

Thank NYC for Duane Reades. If it were not for your grace and fully stocked shelves of cold medication, kleenex and afirin, I may not have made it through my VACATION in New York with the worst cold I've ever experienced up to date. Your store was CRUCIAL in my ability to survive the week although my recovery was slow and painfully not there. Store associates are friendly, although at night you find a few people outside looking like they're about ready to dive in to your bag and gun point you at whatever it is you have, despite it being in SoHo ... and they have cheap spring water, fantastic! read more

The store is pretty well stocked and laid out, but the pharmacy staff is unhelpful, surly, and clearly not interested in their job. I get my prescriptions here bc it's a good location and I'm too lazy to change everything, but if you have a chance to go elsewhere, you should. The pharmacists and techs here are unhelpful and misinformed. I had a copay assistance card for an expensive drug. The pharmacists and techs insisted it was a different company (the wrong company), which forced me to call the manufacturer repeatedly to verify the information was correct (it was!). I couldn't make it out to the pharmacy in time to get the copay refunded and got stuck with the bill. The pharmacist never offered to contact the company and sort it out. The techs who kept insisting it was a different company had no idea what they were talking about. It was an extremely frustrating experience. Stay away from the pharmacy here! read more

Consistency is key. It's a Duane Reade simply, but they keep their shelves stocked and they pretty much never change. Boring, maybe? Effective and efficient for loyal customers. yes! I pop in and grab my usuals and pop right out. What more do you truly desire from your local general goods and pharmacy store. I must admit that I never use the pharmacy, so there could be some discrepancies with my account in regards to what happens downstairs. The lines tend to only be annoying at peak times and around holidays per usual but they do a pretty good job at staffing and the employees are all pretty consistent. Some are more a lot more friendly than others but that's common and this is NYC. read more

I went to this DR for at least 4 years and my experience was generally in line with other DR stores and positive. In about the past year the staff particularly at the pharmacy is surly, disorganized and unhelpful. Despite the fact that it is close to my house, I've moved all my prescriptions elsewhere. Occasionally, I'm still forced to go there and it remains the same - BAD. Stay away unless you enjoy poor customer service. read more

Store keeps getting more disappointing. From my shopping list, they were out of stock of about half the items. When I asked an employee if he can check the back to see if there were some in stock, he said that I should ask someone else because he had to do something else. I see him not doing much. Do not know why it's hard to help with a simple request. read more

We were walking by here tonight, and I couldn't resist going inside because it looked so nice. The interior is spacious, well laid-out & very clean; the selection was good; and both of the employees (the young guy stocking shelves & the female cashier) were very pleasant. I don't expect much from drug store chains these days, but this place really needs work. The employees are friendly enough, but badly trained, and they don't seem able to help with simple requests. I went in there needing a simple knee wrap, and it took 3 different employees to tell me they didn't have the one I was looking for, and none of them could tell me if it could be ordered, or if I should just go on Amazon and try to get it there. This place has a wonderful aroma and the little old Indian woman who works the register late at night is always very winky and noddy when the Gov wheels me in. I think she has the Hots for the Gov. But that is neither here nor there. They have an excellent selection of soap and bath products, however, they no longer carry Selsun Blue Spring No matter. I love just coming here and sitting in the aisles and staring. Late at night when they're stocking the shelves I feel like I'm watch small dark skinned elves go to work. It feels and smells magical. I wen here at 4:45 PM on Sunday April 16th. The young female cashier couldn't figure out how to ring things up and seemed heavily intoxicated so had to call over her manager (chubby with bleached straightened hair) at which point they and the male cashier next to them started to repeatedly use slurs to refer to me. I left without purchasing anything. I hope the owner is reading and fires these three before someone files a lawsuit. read more

Maybe it's just me, but I never have a good experience with the pharmacies at Duane Reade. Slow as molasses, they are. I only ever go to this particular Duane Reade because of its proximity to my office. I usually call in my prescription refills more than one day in advance of picking them up. It is more the exception than the rule that the prescription is actually ready and waiting for me when I arrive. Often, the pharmacy technician just scoots behind the counter and fills it while I'm waiting. Or, my latest experience was that I stood there alone at the register while two pharmacy workers ignored me for a solid 5 minutes. Eventually, one walked over to me and said "do you need help?" Seriously? No, I was just standing there for fun. Why can't Duane Reade be more like CVS? read more

Cleaner and more organized than most Duane Reades in the area. Although it is a little hard to find. The sign out front is small and it is sandwiched between a salon and clothing store. Also, there are usually people sitting or standing in front of the entrance way making it hard to see. read more

Duane Reade is more prevalent than Starbucks it seems. This brand new location is gleaming with the aisles perfectly faced. This may change in the next few months, years but in the meantime it is a pleasure to pop in for some shampoo, batteries, magazines etc. read more

This location opened in August 2008 (give or take) and just wanted to put in writing that Duane Reade and great customer service can indeed go hand in hand. Being a newly remodeled store located at the corner of Grand St. & Broadway, everything was well-organized and shiny. Shiny just like the smiles on the employees' faces. I just couldn't believe how friendly the staff is at this location. They even offered to help when they saw I couldn't find what I was looking for! Also, they seemed well-stocked in their inventory and found everything I needed. I just hope the condition and mood remains consistent. read more

checked out at 7:12pm 8/13/2015 - UNSAFE LOCATION - lots of staff and management milling around doing nothing one staff member uses escalator to bring beauty products downstairs as in leaves the products on the escalator alone and goes down and picks them up as they roll off at the bottom....... In the food area group of teenagers screaming and blocking the aisles by the fridges while they 'loaded their bags' with merchandise - staff clearly observed - then screamed their way out of the store unchecked. As I am checking out i ask for manager - 'its her......' she is manning a register - I said - did you notice those screaming kids that just left stole a lot of merchandise ......her reply.....oh ok!!! This is in broad daylight - next thing is a customer being robbed in the store ...... read more

I came here expecting to be blown away by a futuristic drugstore and I felt like the Walgreen from D.C. had more to offer (fresh juice bar and self-serve froyo, nail bar, Dr. Scholls custom foot support machines). This Duane Reade looked so promising but on the inside, the selection was average. I walked around the shop three times looking for band aids before realizing that they had bottom floor dedicated to pharmaceuticals. I wanted to pick up the Klorane oatmeal dry shampoo but it was way more than what you could get on Amazon. As for local brands, I didn't really find anything special. read more

In general this is a fine store but a few things are not satisfactory. One is that they have forgotten to include items I've paid for in the bag which is really annoying. For example I spent $10 on a cosmetic product only to find it missing when I got home. Another thing is that the other night, before midnight, I tried to enter the store and the door was locked, and you could see a group of employees clustered around the cash registers. OK, it's 11:40 and you close at midnight on Sundays (anyway it's Monday). Is there a reason you are closing early? Is it so hard to put up a sign? Cut off from my credit card (though really it was more of an online shopping thing and less an impulse buy thing) I am no longer frequenting clothing shops and Sephora as much. Where do I go to get my fashion fix? Duane Reade. Really? Yes. I love how glossy the displays look here. They are pretty well stocked though personally I feel like the primary benefit is that they have a lot of brands instead of a lot of variety within those brands. I'd probably head to Walgreen's, CVS, Target, KMart, Rite Aid, etc. for your basic beauty brands like Revlon, L'Oreal, etc. since the stock is more varied and you can usually get some kind of discount. What I love here is their selection of nail polish and cheapie brands. Wet n' Wild, Prestige, no longer just a tiny rack in the corner, now I can get all the 50 cent eyeliner I want. Oh, you heard me right. I can't even get a single bottle of water for 50 cents. Anyway, is the staff here a little...less highbrow than Sephora? Yes. Are they pretty much unable to answer your questions about the return policy, are they fazed by anything you tell them at the counter, and did one woman just test the nail polish I was asking about on her hand to show me what it looked like? Yes, yes, and yes. I don't care. I'm not really here for beauty experts. I haven't really explored the rest of the store since a good half of it is beauty but I can vouch for the beauty section and it's worth a check in if you're looking for even lower prices on your drugstore makeup and a wide selection.
