Chemists, Please..... I try and come here every 2 to 4 weeks because, on the side of the store, there are constantly updating the mural on the wall, it is like a revolving door, lol. it's right outside the MTA subway station entrance, I always add the mural photos to Avalon Chemists, because then anyone can find the murals and maybe bring some business to them since I wouldn't want someone else to take over this spot and not allow murals to be painted. If you are ever in the neighborhood drop by and check this place out. read more

I pick up my rx here once a month and I've always had the nicest encounters with the staff. They deliver but I happen to like walking into here. I love the old school vibe and pharmacy smell. What I also found out is the prices for your everyday needs are priced so reasonably it's comparable to the big name pharmacy stores if not cheaper ! They have sales also. They close at 7p. Yelp says they close at 8p. I went there the other night after 7 thinking they were still opened. The door was locked but I called bc I needed my med. Someone answered and kindly let me in to receive it. Awww. You won't get that at cvs ! read more

The best pharmacy in NYC... THEY DON'T have pharmacists like this in CVS, WALGREENS ETC. Old school - will go out of their way to make sure you are getting the medications you need. In addition FABULOUS, FRIENDLY KNOWLEDGABLE STAFF.... Such a pleasure read more

I love the selections here. I can always find something I never knew I needed. This is right across from a Whole Foods and on a street corner. I am lucky to pass it often. read more

Fantastic pharmacy. I was in NYC for surgery. and forgot my meds. They filled a replacement set in less than an hour. First class from start to finish. read more

I lived across the street from Avalon for the past seven years, and just moved to the UWS. I will miss Avalon and their professional and hard working team. I always knew that I was cared for whenever I walked in. They are reliable, and friendly. They did whatever they could to get me what I needed, and communicated clearly. I can't say enough good things. If you live in the neighborhood, go to Avalon Chemists! read more

Most reliable pharmacy. I've been using this pharmacy for the past 7 years. It's my one and only. Everyone that works here is friendly and accommodating. I have since moved out of the neighborhood but continue to stick with them. However, if you do live in the neighborhood, they deliver! read more

Great pharmacy!! The best! Helpful and professional. They even deliver... with all these chains stores, this place has found how to be a step above all these corporations, with true care to the community and their customers. If they aren't on your convenient corner you should give them a call and see if they can deliver to you. You'll be glad you did! read more

Aside from sounding like EVERYONE ELSE commenting about this place, I am thrilled to RAVE about Avalon Chemists. Friendly, efficient (except for their website which seems to freeze up my computer) and above all, customer service oriented. I call to ask for delivery,...NO PROBLEM. Everything is taken care of and they go out of their way to make sure you pay the least amount possible. Hurray and thank god for Avalon Chemists.... seriously... If I had to go to Duane Reade and deal with their rudeness, I'd probably be in jail by now. ;) read more

Friendly and supportive chemists. Great staff. Delivery is a great perk. Truly an East Village gem.

They are the BEST! Helpful, quick to reply to any email that I send, offer same day delivery, and they handle pre-authorization requests with your doctor's office. I'm so glad that I found this place. read more

Linden Park Pharmacy has lost its lease and will be closing in three years. This pharmacy will be an excellent alternative. No rudeness!

The customer service here is awesome. Such a gem in the east village!!! I switched all my prescriptions from CVS to Avalon and it was a great decision. They have everything ready day of and handled all the insurance stuff. read more

I keep meaning to review Avalon -- it is such a great antidote to the living zombie hell that is Rite Aid and the sullen service at ProCare. These guys are lightning fast (almost all of my prescriptions filled in 15 minutes), there's almost never a wait, and if they can't reach your doc about a refill or if your insurance company won't pay for something, they take the initiative and call you. Calvin the head pharmacy guy is a doll, supersmart and competent. The truncated hours can be a pain, yes, but the service is unbeatable. And it's nice to support a small business in the nabe. read more

Pharmacist is intelligent, spends time answering my questions and very friendly. Everything about this pharmacy is above and beyond any and all expectations. read more

We love Avalon Chemists! Ive been filling her for a year, a medication that many other pharmacies wont fill, and Avalon is the compassionate, professional, consistent and responsive pharmacy ill never leave. They also deliver! read more

Just adding to the list of rave reviews here. They are extraordinarily customer service-oriented; the perfect example of what an independently-owned business in New York should be. It only takes one trip to make the thought of going back to Duane Reade, CVS or Rite Aid is unbearable. read more

I prefer to shop "the little guy" over big chains, and am even willing, sometimes, to deal with some inconvenience to this end. But with Avalon Chemists, I don't need to. Everyone is friendly and efficient, even with unusual requests. Like this week: I'm a nurse, and will be administering an antibiotic at home to a family member, which involves getting all sorts of infusion-related supplies. James called to talk about the prescriptions with me, and had everything ready for pickup the very next day. Avalon provides a level of personalized customer service that is a rare find -- beats any Rite Aid or Duane Reade I've ever been to by a long shot! read more

The best pharmacy in lower Manhattan; hands down. I'be been going here since they opened, and Calvin the pharmacist is very pleasant, helpful, and proactive (I didn't even know I needed a pre-authorization for a prescription and he called my Dr. and did all of the leg-work, and then called to update me), the staff is nice, and it feels like a small-town pharmacy like they used to be in NYC. I've seen the staff treat other challenging customers with patience & kindness, and one elderly customer was treated with such respect & familiarity, that it was heartening to witness. I really won't go anywhere else unless I have to, and small businesses like these are all too hard to find nowadays. I hope they stay in business for a long long time read more

Fast, friendly and dependable service. Just call ahead and fill your prescription and it'll be ready in no time.

Professional, efficient and helpful. If my medication is not in stock, somehow it magically appears after 5pm. They are super friendly and nice people too. read more

Organized, fast, professional and friendly... They are everything the big chains are not. If there is a problem, they find good solutions and work with your doctor instead of being told that I am S.O.L. , which seems to happen at CVS every the time I go there. If I do pay more, you hardly notice for the premium service you get. Finally, they have an excellent gum/mint/candy selection. Their buyer should be applauded. read more

This Place is absolutely amazing! By far the best pharmacy in the city. Their retail experience is nothing to write home about however the pharmacy itself is outstanding. The pharmacists are knowledgeable, friendly and extremely accommodating. They offer exemplary service in every regard. It's like what you think a neighborhood pharmacy should be. They know your name and look out for you when needed. read more

This is the best pharmacy in the neighborhood hands down. They may be small but they have all of the urgent items that you need. Where they really shine is when it comes to customer service. Not only do they deliver for free (usually very quickly) but they remember you, are super friendly, and will put in the time with your doctor's office or insurance company to get it right and make sure you aren't paying too much. read more

I don't like how this place is over priced, in my honest opinion. I can go to a local deli in my hometown, get items sold here for much cheaper. But the staff is EXTREMELY EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY. read more

I had a bit of an accident a few weeks back and had to get a bunch of medicines. However, I couldn't walk so needed all this stuff delivered. To my surprise, my Avalon Chemists did free delivery and I had everything I needed with 20(!) minutes. The prices were great too. Avalon Chemists isn't the closest pharmacy to my apartment and their hours aren't great. However, after that incident and how helpful the staff had been, I decided to say no to Duane Reade, and walk a few extra blocks to keep a wonderful place like this in business. read more

I go here to get my scripts filled and until this place i never had been to a pharmacy i liked. Everyone that works here is sooo nice and helpful. I tell everyone i know to go there to get their prescriptions filled here. You cannot beat this kind of service. Plus they deal with your insurance company (and doctor) so you don't have to. It's amazing! no more insurance grief. I live in Brooklyn and i go to this pharmacy...it's just worth it. No matter where you live in the city i would go here. read more

This is the best pharmacy. They have the best customer care and they actually care about their customers needs. Im lucky to live across the street from them read more

Just had to add to all of the good reviews on this site. Everyone in our neighborhood is thrilled to have this wonderful local business nearby. Calvin and his whole staff are just fantastic, lovely people, who always give us great advice. I don't know why people in the area would ever go to an impersonal, overpriced chain store, when they can instead interact with such nice people at Avalon Chemists, who care so much about their customers. They remember every person, each time they come in. They also really came through for me when I was realized I was out of an important medication, the day before a holiday weekend too - they managed to get track down my doctor when I couldn't, and helped make sure I had enough medicine for the weekend. And, they did it with a smile, too! They really make every single person their priority. I can't say enough about this wonderful local place. read more

This pharmacy is excellent! The pharmacist here was so caring and helpful, spending almost an hour on the phone with my insurance, sorting out their mistake. A million miles ahead of the regular chain drug store pharmacies. read more

Calvin and team deliver a level of customer service unrivaled by other pharmacies - including neighborhood delivery. It costs the same no matter where you fill a prescription, so I can't imagine why anyone would choose to go anywhere else. I've even refrained from getting my scripts filled 3 months at a time online - because I know if there's ever an issue, Avalon will figure it out. A "Mom and Pop" at its best! read more

I don't live in the East Vill anymore but I still get my perscriptions filled at Avalon-Calvin and his gang have always treated me like family and help me as much as they can-Tiffany, Georgiana and the rest of the crew well there r not enough words for me to use fully describe how good they have been to me-Thank U read more

Great service! This place is small and has everything. They deliver quickly and always notify of refills.

i am so thankful for this pharmacy. they are cheaper than any chain store I've been to, and they have the absolute quickest turnaround for getting prescriptions filled. a lovely place all around read more
