The Cutthroat Cafe is really good mom and pop breakfast/lunch place. I'd definitely go back. It seems to be run by a family- like maybe Dad was cooking, daughter was waiting. tables and son was bussing, which is super cute. I had the breakfast burrito and it was delicious. I really appreciate the fact that they offered a cheaper no meat option because even though I like pork green chili, I don't really want anything but potatoes, eggs and cheese in my burrito and I always have to get it no meat for the same price elsewhere. My son had the French toast and link sausage kids meal and said that it was delightful. Definitely a good stopping place in Bailey .

TLDR: I really wanted to like this place, but the food I received didn't come close to resembling the pictures of their famed burgers. I had a super remote hike and planned to eat at Cutthroat Cafe following my hiking excursion. So much so that I planned my meal the night before! Yep, I looked up places in Bailey, scoured menus, and landed on Cutthroat Cafe to feed my post hike belly. It was a beautiful day outside so I opted for the covered patio. They had a band, a husband and wife duo, performing during my meal. They were a bit understaffed, but they were hustling. The menu you see online is the same, except the prices are considerably higher from when they updated their website. My super cheeseburger was $14, close to $15. Inflation, I get it, but you still have to deliver. What was presented to me was something you get at your cousins backyard BBQ. The cheese wasn't melted, the patty was overcooked, and the burger was more bun than patty. I hate to say it, but it just wasn't good. Also, it was pretty strange that a child delivered the burger to my table. Didn't say a word, just dropped off the burger. Look, it's probably someone's kid who works/owns the restaurant (at least I hope!) but it just rounded out a fairly weird dining experience. Dining in the mountains is always a gamble. I wish I opted for another spot instead. I mean, look at all the other burger photos on Yelp. The burgers look amazing! Then take a long, hard gander at mine...no resemblance whatsoever. Can't win 'em all, as they say.

Cute little cafe in a beautiful town of Bailey. The burgers were amazing and full of juicy flavor. The service was amazing with a small town hospitality vibe. I loved their Patty melt. The mozzarella sticks were amazing and the only improvement I would suggest is to have marinara sauce. The breakfast plate was large and just so much to eat.

Stopped in early for breakfast over the weekend and had a pretty good meal. Small building right off 285 in Bailey with a good sized outdoor seating area under a tent. Ordered their "reel" deal breakfast item which is basically a deconstructed hash topped with cheese, bacon, sausage, and eggs. I would classify this restaurant as a locals place as the Sheriff was sitting with us starting the day. Inside seating is very limited with a small bar area, so if the weather isn't great then might want to keep traveling down the road.

Friends from CA visiting and they said they wished they could have a place like this in their town.

Cozy cafe that will not disappoint! Small town community hub where you get your money's worth of food and it feels like everyone is a friend. Strongly suggest stopping in.

Great service and great food. The smothered breakfast burrito was great and the French toast was pretty good. I'd come back here.

Impressive little cafe on the way through Conifer. The menu has a great selection of your favorites for breakfast and lunch. Known for their fresh beef, the Patty Melt was delicious. Be sure and order the nicely battered onion rings and the French fries are crispy too. The chicken tenders are big and juicy. It's a great place to stop after a day or two in the mountains and enjoy a meal with the locals. The servers are very helpful and accommodating.

Best home-cooked food. Great restaurant. Friendly staff.

My breakfast was the absolute best. Great, friendly service. This is a gem. Best hash browns and cinnamon rolls ever.

If I had a last meal request, it would be the Lunker from this fine establishment. Only found because my friend and I were taking the back roads to Leadville, CO. This place is a real life Cheers. They even have a reminder note on the wall for their daily customer, Charles, to take his medication. Just a quiet little diner where you feel the love from the environment straight down to the food. The pictures of the food speak for themselves. No need for words. Every picture of a massive burger on this Yelp page are in fact burgers I ordered and consumed. My friend Scott just got ahead of me to advertise this wonderful place.

After randomly discovering this spot on the side of the highway while passing through and starving, I have now driven back to it probably a dozen times. It's about an hour west of Denver down 285, and is well worth the drive. I'll be back again, I'm certain of it. This cafe is a perfect mix of a whole list of things that make a place amazing. It is authentic...you will recognize everything on the menu. It is local...there's a strong likelihood that you'll be just one of a few people there who doesn't live nearby. It is staffed with real people who seem to care a lot about the excellent job that they're doing. It's quirky...the decor is like the real version of what a place might try to emulate if they wanted to create a small town, eclectic vibe. The food is cooked to order, and I haven't regretted a single bite. Honestly, I get excited about going here because the whole thing is such a down to Earth, good-food, good-people experience. They serve everything from traditional breakfast style plates, to country fried chicken/steak, salads, etc...but the real draw...the thing that they do so, so well...is the burgers. These are the real deal. Lots of beef....freshly, loosely packed patties, cooked in true grease pit fashion, and served with ingredients that are familiar, fresh, and that come together to create a perfect example of what everyone thinks of when they think of a classic American burger. The degree of perfection that they routinely accomplish with these burgers cannot be overstated. They're so good. I don't often feel like I just don't have the words...in this case, I just can't describe it. Go and get the burger. You're welcome. Lots of seating indoors and out. Beer, wine and a few cocktails avaliable. Quick, friendly service that creates a welcoming environment, good prices, and a vibe you aren't going to find just anywhere. I could go on and on. Don't drive past it.

Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible? My husband's mother is now wheelchair bound and we wanted to stop in for a bite and to say hello to the owner again. We haven't been here in a few years and can't remember. Thank you!

They are consistently great, which is why you'll almost always find the place buzzing with energy. The location is fantastic--it's situated right next to Bear Creek, providing a cool, relaxing atmosphere that really captures the mountain vibe. As for the food, it's excellent across the board. The breakfast scrambles are a highlight, topped with fresh sauces and served with perfectly crispy hash brown medallions. Their smothered burritos are another must-try, loaded with melted cheese and served with fresh sides. Blackbird is cutesy and inviting with brightly painted exterior (featuring butterflies and sunflowers), cozy and wooded interior, with one hell of a Creekside view. The layout inside is a little awkward - and entrance is right near the kitchen. However, we maneuvered to a table in the corner near the window - with a nice, sunny view and was greeted by a friendly face who gave us a rundown of the specials and allowed us ample time to peruse the menu. We decided to sip on Arnold palmers and split The Rachel - essentially a Turkey Ruben with a side of fries and sweet potato fries - because two types of fries is always the right choice! Within about 10 minutes, our food arrived, which was just what the doctor ordered. Splitting the meal was perfect, as the sandwich was huge. Mom's fries were delicious while my sweet potato fries were a little burnt, but still yummy. Service was friendly, welcoming and accommodating to our lunch date. Pricing is on point and reasonable for a cute mountain town. I'd easily return!

This chicken sandwich was the best I've had. Large, all white meat, quality chicken. It was perfectly fried with a thinner breading. It didn't over power the meat but complemented it. The only topping this sandwich needs is pickles. They were thicker than normal, fresh, crunchy and juicy. The honey butter and fresh toasted bun rounded it all out. The side of fries were good too, crunchy and flavorful. If you're near Fairplay and looking for a good meal, go here. I'd go back.
