Really good food and service. We shared a veggie wrap and I'm glad we shared because the half portion was huge and a good for one person. The spicy ranch was so good as well. We also got a iced latte and the pumpkin spice frappe. The iced latte had a good coffee flavor. The inside was pretty hot so sitting outside was actually better. They have two rooms you can sit in and someone will come up to you and take your order. Be prepared to take some food home as the portions are amazingly large. Perfect cozy spot. The reviews drew us in to try this Cafe and we are so glad we did. We love supporting small businesses and these ladies are working hard to be a success. Its not a big place and you are welcomed almost immediately when you step in. There was a warm glow coming from the fireplace and a warm greeting. We decided to split a peach smoothie & Grilled Chicken (warm) Caesar Wrap with chips. It was the perfect amount for us and so fresh. It is so refreshing to have great food, & service and warm hospitality. We took a drive out to Fairplay just for fun and decided we'd stop for a late lunch before turning around and driving back. We like the small, cozy places and picked Mr. Burro over the larger Mexican restaurant next door. Eating at Mr. Burro Cafe is like going to a friends to eat. The atmosphere is clean and relaxed and the food is prepared fresh while you wait. It's probably even a more relaxing experience in the winter if they use the fireplace that's in the main dining area and you order one of their fancy coffees. Their menu concentrates on fresh ingredients, good taste and less grease. You can't get a hamburger, but you can get delicious sandwiches, bagels, salads and wraps. They do serve a simple breakfast if you are so inclined and they have a glass case with freshly baked muffins. The case also had a huge cinnamon roll calling my name so I just had to bring it home for the next morning. In general this is just a wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy a fresh and delicious meal. read more

We were told to check this place out. It was worth the pretty drive from Breckenridge. It is a sweet cozy place! The peppermint mocha was exceptional. My husband got the chilaquiles. That green chili sauce is something to write home about! I had the Eggs Benedict. They were classic and pretty good. The potatoes had lots of flavor. Overall really great meal. After tasting the green chili I wish I had gone with the recommendation of the burrito. Highly recommend! read more

Who knew that such a cute little cafe existed in the middle of Fairplay? I was staying at an Airbnb with friends, and the place didn't have coffee as advertised, so we went on a grocery store adventure. En route, I insisted on trying Mr. Burro. The Peppermint Latte was delicious (also very sweet) and I'd want to try the food next time. Or just sit here for a few hours reading and marveling at the cozy décor. What a wonderful find! My wife and I live not too far from found ourselves looking fur a breakfast spot so we decided to drop in. We're so glad we did. We chose one of only a few tables in the main dining room, which is quite small. The place only seats about 15-20 max. We ordered coffee, which was quite good--not your average cup. We were both looking fur comfort food, so we decided to try the biscuits and gravy breakfast plate. I have to say that we both love a biscuits and gravy. We might even consider ourselves experts in the arena. This was top notch stuff. No tiny portions here. The gravy was thick and creamy, with a delicious texture and slathered over soft, delicate biscuits. It was absolutely divine! The eggs were perfect and the potatoes were seasoned just right. On top of that, the service was excellent! We had a great experience here and we're already looking forward to returning. Top tier "women owned" breakfast and lunch place in Fairplay!! We were delighted with the food here. I had a blueberry muffin served with a drizzle of caramel on the plate along with a few fresh blueberries. I also tried the muffuletta sandwich with a side salad. My husband loved the lox sandwich with side salad as well. You get a choice of dressing with salads here, and the lettuce is shredded romaine. We would definitely stop here again when in Fairplay. This is a cute location in Fairplay Colorado. It does not have a ton of space so i dont think it would be ideal for larger groups but you could call and in advance to see. It is cozy. There is not signage up to explain their policy so if you are not local to that town here is how it works. If you want to dine in, you need to just go sit at a table and then they will come take your order there. If you are doing a to go order than you go to the register that is there just inside the front door as you walk in. Gluten free and vegan its a little tough to find food. I got the hummus wrap with no wrap just as a salad, was expecting a bigger portion but was about half a plate with a small side of hummus and then half a plate of potato chips! Phew i didn't need that many chips. My friends got a cobb salad and some kind of salmon bagel thing. They got very large portions and ended up taking parts of their meal home. Food was tasty though. Finding Mr. Burro Cafe was a little bittersweet. As I pass through town, I always stop at KB's Kakery and Dorothy's Tamales, but this time around, I found out they were closed. A quick yelp later, and here we are, at Mr. Burro Cafe! This place is quaint, and the staff is super friendly. The place was hopping while we were there, and nearly all the tables were full when we arrived. Since we were ordering takeout, this was fine. We ordered a couple of #4 chorizo & potato Breakfast Burritos and the veggie breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel. The burritos were pretty solid, a little small, but delicious. Eggs, potatoes, and chorizo in a charred tortilla, what more can you ask for!? The bagel sandwich as also great. Eggs and an assortment of veggies on a fresh everything bagel served with some seasoned skillet potatoes. So good! Our order was put together and ready to go in less than ten minutes, and the girls were supper sweet. I've got a new place to stop when I'm headed up fishing. read more

Needed a nice chill diner on the drive home after a nice trip in the mountains, and this place was highly rated. Almost TOO highly rated, I thought... Nope!! Rating is pretty on point keeping in mind this isn't a Michelin starred place. It's a diner, and pretty dang great one at that. The world needs more great diners. They had a great playlist of upbeat music from 60s onward, and the place looks absolutely pristine. The building is wood and very homey feeling. Framed history in the bathroom says the building was built in 1938 or so, and I wish the history was on the back of the menus because I wanted to read it but didn't want to hog the only bathroom! (Bathroom was sparkly clean, btw!) The waitresses helping us were absolute hustlers and whoever was cooking was setting some serious land-speed records for successful cooking and plating. I got the huevos rancheros, and they were honestly some of the best I've had in sometime. They used actual whole beans, not refried, and while I throw no shade to refried, the whole pintos were a really nice complement. Coffee was tasty and they gave me a to go cup as a refill for no extra charge. (Even gave me a cookie!) I will definitely come back here again. Gonna make it my favored place to stop through when I'm out this way. Food was excellent diner fare and the setting was cleaner than some hospitals I've been to. read more

Took a drive from the Denver area to Mount Princeton with some friends. We were looking for somewhere to stop for brunch/lunch and saw great reviews for Mr Burro Cafe and it DID NOT disappoint. First of all, our waitress was so so very kind and attentive. My friends all got drinks (lattes and smoothies) which they enjoyed. We all got bagel sandwiches which were so delicious.
