Pistachio lavender latte and spinach ricotta pastry
    Stephanie W.

This place was a DOPE find in Leadville. It's right on the Main Street and open early (7a) so I dropped by on my way out of the town. I had a pistachio lavender latte (added both syrups to a regular latte), as well as a spinach ricotta pastry (fresh out of the oven when I came around 7:30a). Both the drink and pastry were AMAZING, and the staff was so helpful and the place was a whole vibe! They have hanging bench chairs and regular chairs, and a little "take one leave one" mini library. There are a couple bathrooms, both clean. Def would rec coming here for coffee if in Leadville, I would totally go back!

Went here for both coffee/ breakfast and afternoon cocktails. Their coffee and breakfast were great. I had the breakfast sandwich which I'd recommend. They're made to order and you can choose all toppings. It did take a while to make, but we noticed you can order ahead online which is a great option. The cocktails were also great. They had Guinness on tap which my husband was excited about. The inside is super cute! They have a couple outdoor tables which are dog friendly.

This is a really cozy bar in Leadville. It was a great bar to chat in, and I loved their swing chair. I got the High Five cocktail, which has gin, Aperol, and grapefruit. I was looking for a sweet cocktail, and it was pretty good. Not that sweet really, but not too bitter. They had some card games to play.

Great shop with lots of seating! The staff was nice. We got some bagels as well. They're nice as you can build your own. We went with one plain with jam (house made) and another plain with avocado and egg! Delicious. Cute ambiance to hang out at with cute swings.

I stopped in twice during my weekend in Leadville. Once in the evening for a cocktail and once early in the morning to grab a coffee as I headed out on my adventures. Definitely two different scenes. The evening vibe was a loud, very crowded cocktail bar. However, there was an event going on, as well as a downtown Christmas parade happening outside so my impression may not be an accurate representation of a typical evening at Before & After. After a long drive to Leadville,I opted for their espresso martini. It was okay. But, they let me drink it on the patio so I could watch the parade. Bonus points for that! When I stopped by in the morning it was much more quiet. For coffee, I could not decide between the oatmeal cookie latte and the baklava latte. I ultimately chose the latter with the help of the barista. Great choice! Very tasty! The interior is quite cozy with lots of seating options. Seems like a good place to hang out whether it's for a coffee during the day or a cozy cocktail at night.

The service was amazing. Alina greeted me with a smile and her name. Fast service and delicious mimosa and burrito. The swing seats are so fun to enjoy breakfast.

Our group of 4 came in for drinks before our dinner across the street. I ended up with the Sage Bee's Knees, and my husband got the non-alcoholic blueberry lavender mule and added gin. Both were very tasty and affordable! We had been to this cafe in the past to get coffee (the "before") and think it's so fun that they change it into a cocktail bar by night (the "after"). The vibes were great - lots of people in for drinks and just hanging out. We snagged a great table with a hanging swing which was super fun. For the drink itself - I haven't had many drinks with sage but it wasn't overpowering and rather delicious! Would love to try some of the bar food in the future.

We stopped into Before and After, having been to a few places earlier in the night. We stayed until closing time, if that tells ya anything, lol. Such a cute place, amazing cocktails and the bartender was phenomenal. Let's get into it! Pretty sure we tried to talk the bartender to coming to Denver - he was fantastic. These are craft cocktails and he often shared his vision with each drink we ordered, why he choose this or that ingredient and how he highlighted one flavor over another. It was so educational and fun to hear his thoughts and then taste the creation! And man, this place! It is so stinkin cute. I'm a fan of small touches and Before After has them in spades - in literally every corner. The swings immediately caught my eye as did the cozy corner in the front window with all the sticky notes on the walls. Got kiddos and stopping by on the "before side of the day," bring them in - there are games galore. Or maybe you're stopping by on the After side for a cocktail, no worries here either. The creativity with the seating areas blew me away. I literally wanted to sit in each space and experience it all, lol. There weren't many pics, so I added a few or so. Take a look and you'll see all the cuteness I'm talking about! Ok, back to the craft cocktails, the creativity and the staff. 8 out of 5 stars. Definitely stop in, if you're anywhere near Leadville. You absolutely won't be disappointed. Don't take just my review for it; there are so many here who are also singing their praises. There's always a reason for that!

As a mixture of a coffee bar and a bar, with good food to go along with either type of drink, we really enjoyed Before and After. It can be crowded because the space is not large, but we were able to find a place to sit and have our coffee and a light breakfast without any issues during Boom Days in Leadville. Will return the next time we're in Leadville

really nice selection of coffee drinks and flavors. tried the baklava latte and it was so delicious. staff was nice and the vibe was cool and would be the perfect place to bring your laptop or book and chill.

Quite the vibe! Sat on the swings and got a hot cocktail ! Super attentive bartender that made the whole experience mellow and enjoyable after a long cold day in the outdoors. Definitely a must try!

I won't divulge how to find this place because that was half the battle and made it worth the wait. We ultimately were gathered in the hotel lobby to take us back to the speakeasy - the welcome drink was a super nice touch! The speakeasy itself is fairly tiny - seats about 30? It felt super swanky and loved all the wood - felt like we were somewhere back in the 30s. The cocktail connoisseur behind the bar, Danny, makes you a custom made drink based your preferences. They can of course make standard drinks but what fun is that? In their menu, they have a list of the most popular liquors (gin, vodka, whiskey, rum, etc.) and then flavors that typically pair with those liquors. For example, I wanted some sort of whiskey sour and asked to make it with peach or ginger flavors. My husband asked for a gin drink with crème de violet and got a delicious play on an Aviation cocktail with aloe and rosemary simple syrup. Overall, a little bit of a hiccup to find it and get in, but the experience was awesome! Was a little scared when there weren't any prices on the menu, but for the overall experience of getting a custom crafted cocktail, it felt worth it. Follow the canary! We never figured out the supposed "clues" to finding the place and after a few minutes someone asked if we needed help and it happened to be the host of the Canary bar. I just wish we'd had a little more time but had to leave due to dinner plans. But the atmosphere, the speakeasy setup, and the service were absolutely outstanding. Easily the best and most unique cocktail experience we've ever had. We were a little worried that there were no prices on the menu, but our bill was actually very reasonable especially considering the overall experience. We only had a couple appetizers but the food was outstanding and also quite unique. I definitely recommend making a reservation and checking it out.

And to stumble upon this chic and inconspicuous cocktail bar in the busy downtown was something I wasn't expecting and became a treat after a nice stroll through the town after dinner in my hotel room. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was at the place where my heart was calling for. There were two gents at the bar and one of them warmly greeted me and said I could sit anywhere I would like. I hence picked one of the bar seats. Except one table that was occupied by a couple I was the only one. I appeared to have picked the right time; I had the whole bar to myself (eventually though, several different groups of people streamed in; only a few of them sat at the bar close to me. The bar was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a little over 10 people.) Jeremy, who greeted me upon arrival, was a super host. As soon as I explained that wine is my usual got-to, he said he could mix and match reds and whites to create a "flight" based on what I had told him as to my likings. His extensive explanations as to what sorts of reds and whites the bar offers/serves was (of course) all in his memory. His eloquent speech with no filler words truly impressed me; he sure is a wine connoisseur. What he picked for me were... -2024 Pepiere "Les Gras Moutons" (Muscadet) -Kobal "Bajta", Hazole Belo (aka Orange Wine) -Sandlands "Red Table Wine (Lodi Red Blend) With his wealth of knowledge, after giving him only a hint of what I liked, what Jeremy selected for me to sample/sip was a superb choice. All of them were world-class excellence with elegance and beauty. I carefully and slowly sipped each one little by little to truly immerse myself in the art of wine. Yes, wine is a piece of art for sure. I think I said it correctly at the beginning of this review. This is a cocktail bar with variety of spirits which Jeremy could easily concoct just about anything from gin-based one to vodka-based one to tequila-based ones to whiskey-based one to name several. For those who don't drink, their zero-proof section also has something interesting to browse and choose. Not to mention, rotating pilsner or IPA on tap to name a few from the beer section as well. If you need a little bite to eat, their (changing) food menu has a good number of New American-style plates. The bar originally opened in a different building back in 2015 (I believe). They moved to the current location in 2019. They also offer various different classes so you can expand/extend your knowledge. So for your next foodie vacation in Vail, make sure to include Root & Flower in your list.

Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. The staff was incredibly kind and efficient; even though we stayed for quite a while to catch up, we felt welcomed and well-attended to the entire night. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S.
