Great lil coffee shop! Super busy but employees were hustling and very nice, getting everyone thru line as quickly as they could. My matcha latte with oat milk was fab, hubs just got plain coffee and he said it was great. We enjoyed ours while sitting at the gazebo near the courthouse. Oh and I hope the guy in front of us that only tipped the girls $0.11 went back and gave them more later. read more

Too many DO NOT signs on the door before you even walk in. Very unwelcoming Medium and Large cappuccino both get two shots. I had the medium It was the weakest milk with a hint of coffee flavor. You can do better!! read more

Disappointed. My prior review was 5-stars. Really like Java Moose and it has become our stop when we pass through the area. This time around we walked in about 20 min minutes until close. The gal at the counter reminded us that they were closing soon (which felt appropriate to say). But as we are making up our minds she tells us that they closed the kitchen early. With that lack of customer service we didn't even opt to get coffee. read more

Don't waste your time stopping at Java Moose in FairPlay/South Park. The service is awful, the barista was a pretentious low life, and the coffee and food is no bueno. Stop at your own risk. Instead go to the gas sat down the road. read more

Stopped in for coffee and grabbed breakfast too while driving through. Coffee was fine we got the specialty flavors and tasted like normal coffee. The cook was really really rude and basically throw our order at me. And the food tasted bad. Tasted like postered eggs and nasty American cheese on a crappy bagel. read more

If you sneeze, you'll pass this quaint town of Fairplay. Before we sneezed, we came upon the small, hippy cafe, Java Moose. First, the Americano was delicious! We shared the veggie panini and turkey panini. Both tasty but could've used a little more filling. I thought the prices were high - close to $40! I'm told everything in Colorado is expensive. We always hit up Java Moose when we visit FairPlay. It sounded like they were short staffed but that didn't stop them from getting everyone's orders in and filled quickly! All we had was drink but all of those was amazing. The frappe I had was so good. My daughter had a smoothie and she loved it. Everyone else had some sort of coffee and all smiles. I would love to come back one day and try the food because it look and smells amazing. read more

So bummed out about this place last year and this year. We've been stopping here for years on our way out or back from camping. The turkey paninis were fantastic, and coffee was equally great. Last year and this year they've changed the sandwiches entirely--very little turkey, different bread, way more expensive. So now you pay $17 for a very sad sandwich. I would have paid that much for the way they used to be, but we will have to find a new lunch stop going forward with these developments. Coffee is always great, so go for the coffee but skip the lunch. read more

We are passing through Fairplay on our way back from the cabin trip and we stopped for breakfast Sunday morning. The staff were very welcoming. I ordered a veggie burrito with a side of green chili and my fiancé Chris ordered a bagel sandwich with a side of green chili. Both were five out of five stars and we're shockingly amazing! Better than most quick breakfast spots in Denver. But the real kick her hair was the green chili sauce. It was the best green chili we've ever had and I am dreaming about it till this day. Definitely get a side of green chili and add it onto whatever you get because it's the best! Perfect amount of spice, not too runny, and the right amount of chunk. The fruit smoothies were... not great. At $6 a piece you'd think they would contain real fruit, but both the peach and the strawberry/banana one just tasted like the Torani flavor syrup they had lots of in the back. Not even fully blended. There were a half dozen little ice pellets left when I finished the peach one. "Might be the worst smoothie I've ever had" - my father upon finishing the strawberry banana one. read more

Hands down the friendliest coffee shop I've ever been to. We were in town for a few days and went about 4 times because we loved it so much! The people that work there are very nice and fun to talk to! There is a bit of a rush in the morning but I can see why. This place was really good. I had a breakfast sandwich and my wife had a salad. It hit the spot! Covid makes things tough but they carried on without missing a beat with all precautions in place. All of the food looked really good ... judging by the plates of the people around and the size of the crowd at lunchtime in such s small town. I recommend it! read more

Cute shop, super friendly service and we found it to be pretty efficient despite the Saturday morning crowd. Unfortunately our two medium oatmilk lattes tasted like big cups of oatmilk...like they may have forgotten to put the coffee in them. Or only put in one shot when there should be more in this size cup. Might stick with just regular coffee next time. read more

We stopped on our way through town on a Saturday and it was very busy. It's a nice little place where you order at a counter and they have lots of indoor and outdoor seating. We got two iced cold brews with oat milk. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had several types of plant milk available. I didn't notice until I went up to order and saw the different types written on the refrigerator. My husband got an egg and cheese croissant sandwich and although there were no vegan options written on the menu I was able to get PBandJ on a bagel. It took a few minutes to get our order out but they were clearly very busy. My husband really liked his croissant and the bagel certainly wasn't the best I've ever had but I was happy to have it as an option. We would definitely stop back in when we are in the area. read more

Java Moose is my favorite post 14er coffee and burrito stop in Colorado. I'll bypass places in Breck & Buena Vista and opt for a longer drive for the best Matcha Latte in Colorado. Their sausage breakfast burritos are incredible (the bacon is a great back up choice). Couple all that with the charm of a small mountain town, ambiance, and great customer service it's a stop you won't want to miss. read more

I've stopped here from coffee from time to time and, what can I say, it's not great coffee. But lots of places don't have great coffee, and this place happens to be convenient. On the other hand, other places don't take 30 minutes to heat up a panini sandwich. I'm not sure whether the owners think that it's reasonable to wait that long for a sandwich. Maybe they think their panini sandwiches are so amazing that folks should be happy to wait 30 minutes for them. (The sandwich itself was OK -- not bad, not amazing). Here's what's *not* reasonable, though: refusing to tell your customers that they're in for this kind of wait when ordering. In every other place in the country where you can order a panini sandwich, you'll get in 5 minutes, or 10 if they're busy. Knowing this context, it's deeply irresponsible to expect your customers to wait half an hour without warning them. read more

I noticed several tables around us sharing the regular cinnamon roll as well, and those looked fantastic too. They also have a bakery counter inside with plenty of grab-and-go options. The pastries all looked great, along with fresh bread, cookies, and other sweet treats. If you're visiting Frisco and looking for brunch, Butterhorn is definitely worth a stop. I'm used to fall off the bone tender which also means it's like a melting your mouth easy to bite through consistency. This was not the case ...I felt like I was an animal eating this having to pull out big strands of meat. If I had been on a date or anything this would be borderline embarrassing lol. But probably the biggest thing for me is the coleslaw actually tasted sour. Not entirely sure if it had really gone bad but definitely tasted like it
