This place is amazing. For a small town up in Fairplay, Colorado. This town really needed a delicious brewery with scrumptious smoked food. We ordered smoked chicken wings, a turkey smoked club with avocado sandwich, barbecued nachos, with smoked chicken, added on top, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw. I know this seems like a lot of food, but there were 5 of us, we all shard. The macaroni and cheese was very cheesy, the turkey club had lettuce tomato gouda cheese on Texas toast. The nachos had a little bit of everything. Beans, cheese, sour cream, black olives, it was very good. The waitress was amazing very attentive. She was also the bartender, and they have 8 different beer on tap. And several non alcoholic drinks to choose from as well. After driving by this building for the last couple decades, I finally went inside and had a meal with the family at Highside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would classify this restaurant as sort of a roadhouse with a large bar, pool table, arcade games, and projection screen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are set up as a fast casual restaurant ordering food and drinks at the bar and waiting for your order. I had a craving for BBQ so I aimed straight for the vein with their smokehouse chili and I was not disappointed. Hardly any vegetables, but a lot of yummy, smoked, and meaty pieces served in a slightly spicy broth. Their salad looked good and the kids liked their grilled cheeses with side car's of ice cream so everyone was happy. Good barbecue and selection of tap beer brewed there, I had a barbecue style Cubano called a Coloradan anda sour called in your huckleberry, both very good. Great atmosphere inside, order at the bar and they bring it to you and clear the table. This is a great location in Fairplay. The beer was great and the food only made it better! The Bahn Mi was a true twist on the traditional Vietnamese sandwich with a true Colorado BBQ flair. It makes me miss living in my home state. Jeremiah was excellent with all of the guests who visited while we were there. He was very knowledgeable about their selection of beers on tap and what food would pair well with them. He had our beers poured in no time and the food was out in a flash. They also have a great assortment of games to play, including some pinball machines. This is all set to the appropriate mountain wood/log vibe on the interior. My partner and I arrived in Fairplay before the rest of our group, so we decided to grab food and drinks at Highside. There's the bigger, more well-known one down the street but I took a gamble on Highside, and it paid off. I think they're originally in Frisco (so I'll have to visit next time I'm there) but we were basically the only customers right before close. The bartender was fantastic. He and I experimented with so many "married drafts" (mixing beers together) in addition to the flight of 6 beers I started with. What an adventure! His adorable pup made everything even better. The biggest surprise was how much I liked the Night Skiing stout. I'm not normally a stout girlie. Peach Gose Way was delicious, too. I'm usually the type of person who almost exclusively drinks IPAs, but Highside showed me the light. Colorado BBQ has a "residency" inside the brewery, so it was easy to relax for a few hours while ordering delicious smoked meats and enjoying craft beers. Listen up ya'll. This place is a must stop when ya'll are in town or just passing through it. If you heading to Breck or going back to Denver - u just gonna hit some tourists traps and this place be nothing like it. Food is off the charts and the service is amazing. They ask if they can help empty out ur scraps into the trash can - unbelievable right - that is Brie their manager for you. You think they just pouring beer and scraping froth off the top.. well u be mistaken as they mix me up some pretty darn cocktails and spirits from local distillery ! There were a couple people in the brewery when we get there but the building capacity is pretty large, so it can look empty. They have board games, pool, and arcade games. I also enjoyed the art. They also have several TVs with sports or shows. The one staff member was friendly and efficient. Several people also came in to buy beer to go. They also have a canning kit to can larger crowlers. Each beer price varies. The prices aren't displayed. They do six 4 ounce beers in a flight. It was about $15. The beer was decent. Most of them were pale ale or ipas. They were somewhat unique. One was woody. One was very piney. The Senior Guide was my favorite. They also have two other locations. Quality wise they were close to South Park, South Park's just being more traditional. read more

We tried their brisket and nachos. We had enough food left to take home. I am from the South and have lived in Texas for a while,so I have experienced a lot of bar b Q in my life. My partner and I stopped in for dinner because of all the positive reviews. We were really disappointed. We'd had a late lunch, so I ordered a side of mac and cheese and a cup of pork green chile. My partner ordered a smoked turkey sandwich from the kids menu. The beers were ok. They don't have a large variety of styles (mostly IPAs and lagers). It wasn't crowded but our food took a long time to come out. The mac and cheese was decent except for the small rock that was in it (I just went to the dentist, now my tooth hurts, and I'm worried that it's cracked). The green chile was the worst I've ever had- just some smoked pork with canned, chopped green chile and canned tomato with some broth. No flavor or heat. My partner's sandwich was just toasted sandwich bread with turkey and likely Kraft singles. I know it was from the kids menu, but all the kids I know have more sophisticated palettes than that. The only way our server offered to make things better was to offer us more mac and cheese (no thanks- I don't need more rocks in my diet). We are not picky eaters at all, but my god. It was pretty bad. Next time we're in town we'll buy supplies from Prathers Market, which has amazing deli meats and sides. read more

The staff was great and I liked their environment (arcade games, outdoor seating...), but the food was just ok and they missed a couple of items on our order that I had to go back and request. Is more than 5 stars possible??? I cannot express how wonderful Kerby, Josh, and the entire staff was! They were SLAMMED but everything was top notch and the service was impeccable. My husband and I sat at the bar and watched as they greeted every person that walked in and greeted every customer by name. Beer great! Food not so much. Read all the reviews and we were excited to try as we do whenever we travel, find a brewery and some good food and relax. As former bar and restaurant owners we love trying new places. However when you are standing in line to get a to go box and watch the person making the food put gloves on go from hot and cold bins making the nachos, grabbing by hand out of each container is huge cross contamination. Then with same gloves open the fridge then stick hand in another container. Decided didnt need a to go box for our food. The food itself was borderline and not well made. read more

Just stopped for a quick bite on our road trip. The BBQ brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich were both amazing. Quality meat, juicy and the sauce was soooo tasty.
