Saddle up Cowboy. This one's a doozy! After a long day on the ranch, I had a hankerin' for a hot dog. So I find myself wondering the mean streets of Breckenridge in search of my hard earned treasured meat treat. I stops by Rita's: no hot dogs. I stops by Luigi's: no hot dog. I stops by Clints, certainly a western restaurant named after the great Clint Eastwood Jr would be able to supply the meat treat of my desire: no hot dogs! As the clouds darkened, I realized that my dreams of delicious meat were quickly fading & my dogs were a barkin. So I found a nice bench where I could pop my boots off & rest. A kind red headed stranger sat down next to me & delivered the news that would soon change my life.. Evidently there's a place called the HD Tavern that specializes in meat treats of all sorts of varieties. Now I normally only eat burnt meats with ketchup, but the gentleman behind the bar recommend I try the Dew Drop, a perfectly cooked hot dogs with the spice of jalapeños, the crunch of bacon & a smear of of cream cheese. Boy howdy! The flavor took me back to my days as a child when me & Big Tex would visit the Gulf of America to celebrate another successful cattle drive. The heat was reminiscent of the hot sand mixed with the smooth creamy ocean water. What a treat! I ended up sticking around for a lil' while to wet my whistle. They didn't have any sarsaparilla but they did have the second best liquid that the Great Lord graced this fine earth with. Shiner Bock! I highly recommend the food, beverages & service of the HD Tavern for anyone that is looking for an affording meal in a fun atmosphere. Well it's back to the trail for me cowpoke, but 1 final word of advice: Remember to check your boots for rattlers before hitting the trail. read more

We loved eating here! We were staying in the area and because I'm a big Yelper and I searched "Italian beef" and this place popped up. We drove to Breck from Dillion and sought them out for lunch. Being from Chicago I know Chicago style and this place definitely hit the mark. It's small, kind of hard to find, but worth a visit for sure. I met the owner and the employees and they were all super nice. You can get a beer and it looks like they have a small assortment of hard alcohol if you're in the mood. Three big screen T'V's and sports playing on them all. My wife enjoyed the Chicago dog and myself the Italian beef. I would probably say better then Portillo's as I just returned from a trip back home. The order of fries was huge! I think he hit it with the salt shaker too much though. Wandering around I found this little hot dog sports bar. It had diner seating on one end and a few small tables in the front. Two large tvs had sports on. It was on the bottom level of another restaurant when you walk by on the street so easy to miss. The menu had a variety of different hot dogs and burgers along with sides. I ended up getting the mac n cheese dog. An all beef hot dog covered in mac n cheese - exactly as described. The hot dog tasted like all beef and had a nice snap. They didn't have taps for beers but they had cans, bottles and a few cocktail options. This was the perfect super quick lunch option when everything in the area is so expensive! read more

Honestly, the highlight of our food here in Breck! This place was delicious!! It's a bit divey inside, if you're into that. Parking was a bit tough to find and it's a bit off the beaten path, but the food makes up for it. We got takeout and everything was still delicious when it got home. I got the Chicago dog and it was delicious! A perfect combo of flavors. I added on the sweet potato fries and they were amazing! We attempted to visit this place yesterday, but unfortunately there was only one person working (cooking his butt off as it was pretty busy). When we tried to sit outside and I poked my head in to see if we should order at the counter or wait at our table- he gruffly said "it'll be an hour before I get to you", but yet still didn't answer my question and just walked off to the kitchen. We happily would've waited and spent money on some beers while we did - but we then tried again to speak with him at the ordering counter about 10 minutes later and he just yelled from the cooking area "it's gonna be a minute" and just kept doing what he was doing. I'm assuming he didn't actually want any additional business as many people walked in and out after us when we were trying to find an alternate place to eat- but it's sad because I was looking forward to it! First, I was so impressed with the level of service. There was one person working, and yet he was so incredibly patient, helpful, friendly, and overall just fantastic. I have never had better service at any restaurant. The food is great. Hot dogs are delicious and they have a great variety. The prices are super affordable, especially for downtown Breck. Found this online and I had high expectations going in, thankfully it delivered! I really love wacky and over the top hot dogs and this was some of the best I've ever had.
