HD Tavern is the kind of place you hope to find in a ski town and then secretly don't want to tell anyone about because it'll get too busy. It hits the sweet spot: casual but not sloppy, lively but not chaotic. Perfect for lunch, perfect for après, perfect for that "we'll just stay for one" lie you tell yourself before ordering another round. read more

Came across this place unintentionally and what a nice surprise. The Italian beef sandwich and Chicago hot dog were deliciously seasoned -- not a bite left. Amazing what they crank out from the tiny kitchen. Seating leaves a little to be desired, but the food was so good we didn't mind. Can't wait to return! read more

Charged me for shots I didn't order. Would not take them off my tab. Very rude to me the whole time. Food was overcooked and overpriced.

Saddle up Cowboy. This one's a doozy! After a long day on the ranch, I had a hankerin' for a hot dog. So I find myself wondering the mean streets of Breckenridge in search of my hard earned treasured meat treat. I stops by Rita's: no hot dogs. I stops by Luigi's: no hot dog. I stops by Clints, certainly a western restaurant named after the great Clint Eastwood Jr would be able to supply the meat treat of my desire: no hot dogs! As the clouds darkened, I realized that my dreams of delicious meat were quickly fading & my dogs were a barkin. So I found a nice bench where I could pop my boots off & rest. A kind red headed stranger sat down next to me & delivered the news that would soon change my life.. Evidently there's a place called the HD Tavern that specializes in meat treats of all sorts of varieties. Now I normally only eat burnt meats with ketchup, but the gentleman behind the bar recommend I try the Dew Drop, a perfectly cooked hot dogs with the spice of jalapeños, the crunch of bacon & a smear of of cream cheese. Boy howdy! The flavor took me back to my days as a child when me & Big Tex would visit the Gulf of America to celebrate another successful cattle drive. The heat was reminiscent of the hot sand mixed with the smooth creamy ocean water. What a treat! I ended up sticking around for a lil' while to wet my whistle. They didn't have any sarsaparilla but they did have the second best liquid that the Great Lord graced this fine earth with. Shiner Bock! I highly recommend the food, beverages & service of the HD Tavern for anyone that is looking for an affording meal in a fun atmosphere. Well it's back to the trail for me cowpoke, but 1 final word of advice: Remember to check your boots for rattlers before hitting the trail. read more

Derek and Kevin are the best bartenders in town they gave me the best experience ever!

Bartender on March 27th was rude and charged us for drinks we didn't order. Would not recommend.

Food was terrible! Kitchen was disgusting never cleans utensils or grill. Sharing a fridge for beer and food. Packs of hotdogs and frozen fries on top of cases of beer. Takes for ever to get a beer do not waste your time!!! read more

We were at this pub for a bit, spent a good amount of money, and then they decided the bar was too crowded so they kicked us out. It was very bizarre, in sum don't go to this bar if you plan on being there for a bit I guess. read more

We loved eating here! We were staying in the area and because I'm a big Yelper and I searched "Italian beef" and this place popped up. We drove to Breck from Dillion and sought them out for lunch. Being from Chicago I know Chicago style and this place definitely hit the mark. It's small, kind of hard to find, but worth a visit for sure. I met the owner and the employees and they were all super nice. You can get a beer and it looks like they have a small assortment of hard alcohol if you're in the mood. Three big screen T'V's and sports playing on them all. My wife enjoyed the Chicago dog and myself the Italian beef. I would probably say better then Portillo's as I just returned from a trip back home. The order of fries was huge! I think he hit it with the salt shaker too much though. Other than that, a perfect lunch! If I return to the area, I will definitely come again! read more

They don't like brown people. They told me when I first arrived I needed to make reservations first when there were seats open. Left the place and called to make a reservation then was told by the same guy, it's first come first served. How funny. read more

Stumbled upon this little gem after 2 others had an hour wait! The hot dogs are fantastic, and a huge selection to choose from! Enjoyed the peach beer as well! Would definitely eat here again! read more

Service was slow. Bartenders failed to communicate about expectations and allowed purchase and then did not stop purchase or prevent and then did not allow discussion for reimbursement. Bartenders failed to check IDs constantly and were not aware of who they were selling too read more

Left over food and drinks left on tables from when we arrived till we left absolutely no care for service ,refused a whole party of people other then us because of ice being in town, told us they had 1 burger left then after told us he lied about that, crap food over priced and had to go find him to even pay was sadly the worst experience I've had getting food and drinks in brek as a local wouldn't go there again read more

Wandering around I found this little hot dog sports bar. It had diner seating on one end and a few small tables in the front. Two large tvs had sports on. It was on the bottom level of another restaurant when you walk by on the street so easy to miss. The menu had a variety of different hot dogs and burgers along with sides. I ended up getting the mac n cheese dog. An all beef hot dog covered in mac n cheese - exactly as described. The hot dog tasted like all beef and had a nice snap. They didn't have taps for beers but they had cans, bottles and a few cocktail options. This was the perfect super quick lunch option when everything in the area is so expensive! read more

Honestly, the highlight of our food here in Breck! This place was delicious!! It's a bit divey inside, if you're into that. Parking was a bit tough to find and it's a bit off the beaten path, but the food makes up for it. We got takeout and everything was still delicious when it got home. I got the Chicago dog and it was delicious! A perfect combo of flavors. I added on the sweet potato fries and they were amazing! Sweet potato fries aren't always fine right, but they were just as crispy as normal fries here. SO GOOD. I'm dreaming of this meal as I type this. Would definitely go again! read more

Great little bar in downtown Breckenridge. Great bar ambiance and the food was awesome. A little hesitant with majority of the menu being hot dogs, but they were all delicious and we had fun watching UFC prelim fights on their main tv. read more

We loved this hole in the wall eclectic joint. Great food and service! We even ordered take out food to bring home to share with family!

Great late night spot. Hot dog was delicious, sweet potato fries, great beer. Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely come back.

The quintessential packed small bar in Breckenridge. Live music playing when I entered early on a Thursday night, I had just arrived and was looking for a quick bite. Had a Gyro which was great, although I think I may have accidentally ordered when their kitchen was closed since they took the menus away afterwards. Not many beers on tab but this place is all about ambiance. If you want to drop in a place and immediately feel like you are part of the party, this is your stop. read more

Yummy Chicago Dog! My favorite. There are a variety of dog choices. Fries are the best--so crispy. Support this locally owned restaurant.

Hey guys if you are above the age of 21 and look younger be expected to have your id bent and cracked. Also, drinks are overpriced for a dive bar absolutely ridiculous. read more

This is an awesome place, came here with my friend and had a blast! Cool vibes and good prices!

Went there and had my ID bent and cracked, the bartender Mike did it to another person in our group as well. Not only did that occur but he took forever to make our drinks. Now when I go back home, I'm going to have to spend $25 on an id that I was not compensated for. Also, the prices are way too high. read more

We attempted to visit this place yesterday, but unfortunately there was only one person working (cooking his butt off as it was pretty busy). When we tried to sit outside and I poked my head in to see if we should order at the counter or wait at our table- he gruffly said "it'll be an hour before I get to you", but yet still didn't answer my question and just walked off to the kitchen. We happily would've waited and spent money on some beers while we did - but we then tried again to speak with him at the ordering counter about 10 minutes later and he just yelled from the cooking area "it's gonna be a minute" and just kept doing what he was doing. I'm assuming he didn't actually want any additional business as many people walked in and out after us when we were trying to find an alternate place to eat- but it's sad because I was looking forward to it! We ended up going down the street to Whiskey Star BBQ and had delicious food, friendly service, and an added bonus- no wait! read more

The service provided was awesome. The bartender/cook even took time to stream Sunday Ticket in order for us to watch the Saints game WHO DAT! If you are looking for a small setting, friendly staff, a local spot to visit while grabbing some food you won't be disappointed. read more

First, I was so impressed with the level of service. There was one person working, and yet he was so incredibly patient, helpful, friendly, and overall just fantastic. I have never had better service at any restaurant. The food is great. Hot dogs are delicious and they have a great variety. The prices are super affordable, especially for downtown Breck. Ordered take out. Took FOREVER. After an hour, they tell us half our items are not available (even out of salad). The burger was so burnt it was inedible. The chicken fingers got blackened too.
