I have been a fan of Cafe Buchi since they opened in Leadville. Their lunch menu and drinks are fantastic. I tried breakfast last weekend and unfortunately it is not the same quality or service. The food is great and location is central and has lots of seating. Only issue is the pricing. I asked for an extra sauce and was charged $2 for a small amount. That seems excessive, I was expecting like fifty cents or less. If it really worth charging your customers that much for a small amount of sauce? Then it was $5 for a tiny amount of rice and beans, which is fairly inexpensive to make, so that didn't add up either. The plantains were $7 and came with no sauce, which is why I asked for some. The first time we stopped in here was a few years ago. We were impressed by the food (even though there only a few things on the menu) and the delicious Cuban coffee. Then it all went downhill from there . We stopped by with our 6# puppy intending to sit outside on their outside, uncovered area. I am a huge lover of Cuban food and what a pleasant surprise it was to stumble upon Buchi in little old Leadville. Cuban sandwiches are my favorite and I am a critic of them I suppose. They have the exact right kind of authentic bread you should use in a Cuban sandwich. The Cuban mix was made perfectly with all of the ingredients you should have on a Cuban. They didn't try to make it trendy- they made it authentic. Price is on point and the portion is substantial. I managed to finish the entire thing because it was so good, but could easily stretch it for two meals. Boyfriend got the Aye Conyo and enjoyed it as well.
