Good hainan chicken, stir fry udon and ong Choi!!! Fun spot with great menu selection. Plus they take cc!!

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday. Plenty of seating and able to accommodate us. The food was really tasty and authentic. My friend raved about this place for a while and it lived up to the hype! The owners also gave use a dessert on the house that was made with their own adjustments and it was amazing! We loved everything that we got. The only thing was the little bean things in our vegetable dish that none of us actually liked and we didn't know what kind of bean it was. My favorite dish was definitely the nasi lemak! It was so good!!

We stopped by Curry House for a weekday dinner and had a great, no-fuss experience. Service was quick. We ordered the tofu satay, eggplant in garlic sauce, and vegetable curry with white rice. The food was flavorful, served piping hot, and arrived quickly--perfect for a casual dinner. This isn't an upscale spot, but it's clean, spacious, and comfortable--not cramped at all. If you're in the mood for hearty, tasty food without the frills, this place is definitely worth a try!

I went inside Curry House to get lunch today. I got myself a curry chicken on rice bowl for $11.50 and a roti canai appetizer for $5.50. Wait time was a couple of minutes and luckily there was a long green bench to sit and wait for my order to be ready. Once I opened the curry chicken on rice bowl, I saw that the rice was very soggy and wet. Did not really like the texture. Wish it was not soggy or sticky. You can choose chicken with or without bones and I got it without. The chicken was very soggy too and the curry flavor was not strong enough. Wish it was stronger with more potatoes. There was a lot of curry sauce to drench the rice in. With the roti canai, the Indian pancake was very crispy and fried. The sauce was very good and I can taste the spiced flavor. The restaurant atmosphere is very modern with few people in it for lunch today. It is very clean though.

It was my first time trying Curry House after a friend recommended it, so I decided to order takeout. I went with the Kapitan Noodle (Malaysian), a pan-fried udon dish tossed in dark soy sauce with pork, chicken, squid, and shrimp. It looked amazing and smelled even better. Unfortunately, the noodles were a letdown. The udon was overcooked, it wasn't spongy or bouncy. Since the noodles are the star, it really fell flat for me, which was disappointing. I also tried the baby oyster omelette--it was fine, but nothing special, as I've had better... Meh!

Decent spot for Malaysian food in Chinatown. Not too many people on a weekday during lunch time. Service was fast and friendly but, because we were practically the only table of diners there the entire time, the servers were staring at us while we were eating, which I did not appreciate. We ordered: Spring rolls- Ordered this off of their dim sum menu. Tasted standard and came with a tasty sweet and sour sauce. They came out hot and crispy. Satay tofu- Liked how the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Served with tons of crunchy bean sprouts and a fairly mild satay sauce. Char kway teow- Loved this dish! The noodles were perfectly pan fried with a smoky flavor and the addition of seafood and Chinese sausage worked perfectly. Curry beef stew over rice- Beef was very tender and curry was flavorful but not too spicy. Loved the fried potatoes as well! Overall, the food here was good and the prices are reasonable as well, given the portion size. Some things to improve on: 1) Some classic Malaysian dishes like rendang and laksa are noticeably missing. Consider adding these to the menu? 2) Recommend that the servers at least pretend to be busy instead of staring at diners during times of low foot traffic.

This place is still a staple in our haircut Saturdays. It's never so busy that you can't get a table immediately, the food is cheaper and have huge portions, and the service is super fast. We are almost through the entire menu and very rarely did we get something we didn't like.

We walked in as a group of 9 on a Thursday night and were seated right away. The place is spacious, clean and modern compared to other Chinatown restaurants. The staff were friendly and attentive; food came out in quickly. Half of our group are non-Asians and it was their first time trying Malaysian. We ordered several dishes to showcase the different flavors and spices. Everyone was surprised by the larger than average portion size. Our group loved the food and plans are in the works for an encore soon.

A table for 2 last Sunday. Me and my wife had an early lunch right before church service. I would rank this higher than most Malaysian restaurants within the vicinity. I ordered Nasi Lemak and wifey ordered Curry Noodle with Young Tau Foo. Excellent, excellent nasi lemak, rice is succulent and fragrant. Fried anchovies are spot on. Crunchy and savory, just how it supposed to be. Most places would serve the anchovies stale and hard to chew but not theirs. Definitely a must order again for me, generous portion, could be split into 2 people if you are not too hungry. Wifey enjoyed her stuffed eggplant Tau Foo, she said the eggplant is soft and sweet. Lovely lunch/dinner spot, we will be back!!

Really good spot and glad we came here. On a Sunday, there was a lot of space available though the restaurant was still busy. Food came out Asian style - as in it comes out once it's ready, and the apps came out within 10 minutes of us placing the order. The noodle didn't take that much longer. Before we started eating, we were contemplating ordering more but we're glad we didn't! The portion sizes of the noodles and satay tofu is pretty big. I imagine most things on the menu are of good size as well. Flavors are on point, though I tried to get our noodles "less spicy" but they took out the spice entirely. So if you plan to order a spicy dish, either keep it as is or know that they likely don't do a milder spice option.

When the place is packed on a weekday afternoon, in a neighborhood filled with amazing eats, you know it's probably pretty good. It's safe to judge a Malaysian restaurant by their Nasi Lemak, so I knew I was going to order that when I solo dined here recently. They kept it traditional, complete with crispy anchovies, hard boiled egg, sambal and peanuts. I paired it with a satay chicken app. The portions and the crowd were harbingers of good things to come. The chicken satay came with 4 generous skewers of dark meat, with that signature sweet marinade and peanut sauce over it. I found both chicken satay and nasi lemak serviceable but not so memorable. I think it's about the quality of the ingredients. As a solo diner, I also found the portions, which were mostly family sized, made it difficult to try more of their menu. The flavors were solid and the kitchen was pretty efficient however. I like WokWok across the way for some of my other favorite Malaysian dishes.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed them yet. Huge fan of their curry beef stew, especially on cold winter days, a large order lasts me a full week of meals and I also sometimes add veggies/potatoes to expand the curry to make it last longer. Didn't feel like cooking on this sweaty summery evening so I dropped by to get Homestyle Combination on rice ($12.95, hainanese chicken, curry beef stew, and fried egg on rice) and an order of the spring rolls ($7.95). Food came out quick. Chicken and curry beef stews tasty as always. First time trying their spring rolls actually and was kind of disappointed, they'd sort of just fried wrappers with minimal filling. Service was quick. They have ample seating- the usual Malaysian type ambiance.

Beef Satay. Excellent

I've been back to this restaurant too many times to not right an updated review. As per before, the best thing here is the Nasi Lemak which is both a massive portion for the price and is also a very flavorful excellent take on it. The rice could be a little bit better flavored but otherwise no complaints. The Satay here are excellent also with a particularly good beef one but the chicken is also great. Also, they have an excellent take on char kway teow listed as Penang Kueh Teow done the traditional way though I of course order it without squid and there's plenty of meat in there regardless of that including a whole lot of lap cheong/Chinese sausage and shrimp with a good amount of wok hei. The Silver Pin Noodles are also pretty good as is the roti canai which comes with one piece which is pretty common. Other dishes I've had have included the decent Pan Fried Rice Cakes, the very tasty Malaysian Style Spare Ribs, the ok Bird's Nest/Oyster Omelette, and the pretty good Eggplant Okra Petai Bean & String Bean with Belacan Sauce and Sambal Beef. As I've mentioned prior and other people mention, the weakest thing here is ironically the actual curry and if they named themselves Noodle House, I think it would be more appropriate for what you actually should order here. I love this place and I wish I didn't as much as it is taking me away from the other Malaysian spot I like Rasa which unfortunately is a lot pricier by comparison but has better service. Upper 4 for the good dishes and the good deals especially in the rice section.

Considering the hectic 48hrs of non-stop traveling and celebrations, I would've been satisfied with a simple takeout meal to end the weekend but to my surprise, one of the best experiences of the trip was yet to come. Thankfully I was blessed with great friends to recommend this exceptional establishment known as Mitr Thai in Midtown Manhattan. Though the trip was centered around a wedding, my experience here instantly became the highlight of my trip to the City. One very genuine friend arranged this dinner, making a reservation for 3 for 7:30pm. To our surprise, we actually made it from Connecticut, walked from Grand Central and to Mitr Thai at 7:25pm even though they won't seat you until your entire party is there. After passing through the scaffolding, the restaurant has a two-door entry, one host after another, leading to a quaint but alluring lobby area. We were greeted by both hosts even though we were bogged down with luggage. The space was welcoming and had a sense of elegance as there was a blend of hardwood furnishings, low lighting and a heavy dose of Thai art/fixtures. For context: Labor Day Monday, at 7-8pm, there was a steady demand as the waiting bench remained full. There were even guests standing but even as more people came in, people were being seated at a consistent rate. Our 3rd friend arrived closer to 8pm and we were seated immediately. Our bags were placed in a small room behind the host podium and we were seated 20-30 meters from the door along the wall facing the bar. The menus were very comprehensive: large, descriptive and filled with graphics that left me wondering if I could try it all. I couldn't praise our server (Mindy) enough. She knew the kitchen, bar and any/all offerings like her own name. She had individual recommendations for each of us AND ADDITIONAL OPTIONS. I listened, ordered the Short Rib Prik Kang and indulged in a Verdant Whisper (Tequila, Cucumber, Lime). I'm not sure how but our food arrived less than 15mins later! The short rib looked good enough to make the entire restaurant jealous: the curry paste glistened in the light, the aroma called my name while the garnishes winked at me. To my disbelief, as good as it looked, it tasted even better! The sauce was robust, smooth, creamy & just spicy enough. Since the ribs slid off the bone, I mixed in the white mixed rice and ate it as a meal. I can proudly say I've never had anything like it. Oh yeah, the cocktail? Smooth, refreshing and relaxing. Worth every penny. I was elated with the overall experience and chose to pay for both of my friend's meals. My only regret is not having more to tip! Mindy gave us the table to chat for another 30mins but in the back of my mind I was still enamored from the meal. I had no expectations when I entered Mitr Thai but I left with a sincere amount of praise and admiration. From cuisine to the hospitality down to the furnishings, dining here was one of the best overall experiences I've had in YEARS. I cannot say enough about this establishment and I hope they Always Strive & Prosper.

We were seated immediately on the second floor. The restaurant had a chic, sophisticated interior, with black and gold accents and wood furniture. A large spiral fringe chandelier hung from the ceiling. While the environment indeed was upscale, the food still retained that cozy, home-cooked element known to Thai cuisine. I split the short rib curry and pork cheek with my husband. The curry was creamy with a kick of heat. The beef pull-apart tender. I'm salivating just thinking about it now. The pork cheek was delicious as well. It had the taste and texture of pork belly, which paired splendidly with the sweet and tangy fish sauce it came with. Others from my party ordered the masaman curry and a type of noodle (I think it was the pad kee mao?), and they all approved of their dishes. The drinks were wonderful as well, so distinctly Thai and inventive. I highly doubt you'll find anything here that isn't excellent.

Not all midtown restaurants stay open past 10, and I was relieved to find their kitchen going strong at that hour, as well as their dining space, which was full. Turned out it was for good reason because their food was delicious. My friend and I were hoping to eat at a restaurant nearby specializing in crab, but they closed much earlier. Fortunately for us, SaiTong's menu had plenty of crab on it, and we decided to double up and make each of our entree's a crab one. The black spaghetti crab curry and crab curry noodles advertised themselves as being very different dishes in both presentation and ingredients but ended up tasting kind of similar. One was topped with deep fried crab and used a different type of noodle than the other, but the sauces were so similar. This is not to say that they didn't taste good, but I would've preferred more variance. I'm glad we got an order of papaya salad to cut the richness of the other dishes, and I also appreciated it had a nice level of heat in it. Our servers were really friendly without being overbearing, and let us linger for a bit even after we paid the bill, as it was their last seating for the evening. There are so many excellent Thai restaurants in the city and I'd put SaiTong firmly in the category of perfectly solid spots to get your Thai fix, with some special dishes on the chef's menu worth checking out.
