I've reviewed Cups at 5418 Yonge Street location before so this is review would be on the differences I've noticed between the two locations. Quality wise the shaved ice from both places are super delicious! My first exposure to Korean shaved ice is through Cups and I still recommend this over other shaved ice place to all my friends. This particular location has more seating space though compared to the 5418 Finch location, enough to handle multiple larger groups (I went with a group of 8 before), as long as the place isnt already packed with other patrons. I noticed that the small shaved ice sizes here are still served in bowls whereas the other place serves their small shaved ice in clear tall plastic containers. I like the bowl version better as it allows me to dig around and mix easier. Sizing of the shaved ice is a bit confusing. I recently ordered the Oreo shaved ice in large, and the size of the bowl looks just as big as my friend's small Oreo shaved ice. I asked the employee there and he said that depending on the type of shaved ice the bowl sizing is different. So my large Oreo shaved ice actually used the same bowl as a small shaved ice of tiramisu. Just something to consider when you're ordering. Unless you're a frequent customer and remember things, I would ask to see the size of the bowl before ordering. The Oreo shaved ice is to die for. Definite must try. read more

This place is the exact same as Soul Cafe (maybe same developer?) and his menu is identical! The only difference here is that there's another size option (cup) that is their bingsu served in a plastic cup. The size is relatively fair - practically a venti size at Starbucks. We ordered a small mango bingsu, along with drinks. I got the black sesame latte and it was really good! However, they seemed to have forgotten about our order and we had sat there with our beeper for 45 minutes waiting, not wanting to ask so we weren't /those/ impatient customers. But it soon came to the point where we had to ask, and they seemed to have missed/lost our order. We weren't too upset (annoyed more than anything), as my friends and I were understanding as these things can happen, but they were still very apologetic. They gave us a free bingsu and a stamp card that was filled so the next time we come in, we'd get one for free. Wonderful customer service and good bingsu! What more could a girl ask for? read more

Awesome spot for Bingsu in Thornhill! We tried their Injeolmi (Soybean) Bingsu and everything from the taste to texture was delicious! The shaved milk ice is not too sweet and melts in your mouth upon each bite. Although the decor of the cafe was not overly eye catching, don't let that fool you! The cafe was pretty packed when we went, but the staff were friendly and cheerful despite the large amount of orders. If you've never had Korean bingsu, I would definitely recommend trying Cups for their light, airy and tasty selections! read more

This is probably one of the best bingsoo places I've been to. At first I was confused because it'd felt as though the shaved ice lacked sweetness, but lo and behold there is condensed milk layered between the layers of shaved ice, so I highly recommend mixing it all together, because it ends up perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness. The one thing that would've been nice is if the red bean was included in the injelomi bingsoo - I had to order it on the side- but it's not that big a deal. Also ordered an a absolutely delicious green grape slush, which was so good and so fresh it actually had pieces of grape in it. There is a damn good reason why cups won march madness! (if you have no idea what that is.. you're clearly NOT following @yelpgta on instagram and therefore I disapprove of you until you do so) Cups is so good! I am NOT a fan of dessert or 'bad foods' - anything that doesn't fit into my macros = no bueno. Cups however surpasses that. I don't like desserts usually; if it's sweet, I feel gross and sick after. However, I am a huge fan of cups! The location is awesome with a big parking lot - free, I might as well add. This lot does get ratchet many times though, and sometimes you have to do a tight.. a super tight.. three point turn because there's no exit on some sides?!?!? Who designed this. Please come see me. The store is small but apparently compared to the one in north york, it's big. There are a few tables in here and luckily everytime we've been here, we've been able to grab a seat quickly. It does fill up quick though and we've seen people standing in lines and lines. The shaved ice here takes around 10 minutes to get ready and it has near perfect presentation almost every time. My favourite is the mango. It's so good that I've never tried any other one, because the mango they use is always sweet, ripe and delicious. Fruit is my favourite dessert for a reason. I don't like the whipped cream on top but you can always ask for that off, or flick it into your boyfriend's plate like I do. One cup is good for solo or sharing. If you're feelin' a bit cheat-meal like, I'd go for a small but definitely still share unless you want to explode of bingsu. Ps. I love how the non-asians on here are like 'what is this' and 'gross' etc. Just because it's not diabetes-filled like your favourite demetres or marble slab doesn't mean it's not a good dessert. Being the winner of the Munch Madness Instagram competition, I had to check out Cups. When we first came it was very busy and luckily we snagged a table. It's not a huge store, but it gets packed easily. The first visit, we ordered the mango, injeolmi, and tiramisu. That time the mango was a little hard and not ripe. The injeolmi was not bad. My friend loved it but to me I wanted a little pizzazz, so I had the tiramisu which had a CAKE on top of it. They all looked amazing and tasted pretty good too. Shaved ice is definitely an experience if you've never tried it. The second time we ordered the cheesecake and the coffee. The coffee one is definitely my favorite out of all the flavors. It had enough liquid to mix with the ice, the cereal topping was awesome, and it tasted great overall. While the cheesecake was definitely a more muted flavor, I wish they had a little more condensed milk at the bottom, as it was lacking flavor when you started to finish the bowl. These are all just nitpicky details. I really love the cups and would definitely come back again and again. Can the location of Cups be any better? It's right beside Piggy's and some other excellent restaurants in there area, making cups the go-to post meal dessert place! Came here after eating a sensational meal at Piggy's and to be able eat bingsoo after such a korean meal was just an incredible experience. Korean 1-2 punch. If only I went to home of hot taste after for some drinks, then what would have been a trifecta. Ok anyways, the place is rather small, but should have enough tables and chairs. We went with the classic injeolmi bingsoo and the matcha one in cup size. Cups at cups, how fitting. It really is perfect on-the-go if you ever want to do that (not recommended, at least not while driving). That being said, I still think the cup size is an acceptable size to be shared, unless you have a sweet tooth that is. The shaved ice was nicely layered, with toppings through the cups. The injeolmi is always a must-get: Despite not looking the most flashy - it's the face of bingsoo. The nuttiness of it is through the roof and is so satisfying. Combined with the chewy-ness of mochi, and the soft fluffy texture and coldness of the shaved ice, it's literally a party in your mouth. It's not overly sweet at all, with most of the sugar coming from the condensed milk evenly distributed around. The matcha ice cream was packed with matcha flavor, it was so good. I am IN LOVE with this place! The Cups at Glen Cameron Road is located right next to Piggy's Restaurant (a favorite of mine for Korean BBQ). It can get really crowded after dinner time and you often have to wait for a table. Luckily they can accomodate take-out desserts in a cup, but I just feel it's more satisfying to eat dessert out of a bowl instead. Most definitely try their shaved ice (Bing-su), which is made out of finely shaved milk - it's like a soft powder, but sweet! After eating at Piggy's next door to Cups, my friend and I decided to come here for dessert after. I must say for a Monday night, the place was quite packed. Therefore, my friend and I decided to get our shaved ice in a cup to go. Although, after we paid, two seats opened up and we decided to sit down and eat our shaved ice there. I ended up getting the tiramisu shaved ice and it was quite the treat. It was around $8 after tax for the shaved ice in a cup, but the portion was defintely worth it. I love how they layered the condensed milk inside the cup, which makes it taste more flavourful every bite of the way. I defintely want to come back and try the other flavours next time! As for the service, the lady working there was super friendly and patient. The decorations inside were very festive and added a nice touch to the place. This place is a little rough if you go in the evening/when it is busy. If you go during the day/off times, it is a much more comfortable experience. The shaved ice itself is super tasty. Really nice texture, since it is such a finely shaved ice. The ingredients they use for the toppings are also really good. First time, I ordered a large mango to share, and it was really yummy. They didn't skimp on the toppings, it was completely covered in mango. Second time I got a cup size of the green grape - also super tasty of you're a fan of grapes. They use fresh grapes (not frozen) so it makes it even tastier with juicy grapes popping with the shaved ice. Sweet and tangy! The cup size is a really good size for one person to enjoy. I am in love with shaved ice. I have a sweet tooth, but I find western cakes, creme brulees etc a little too rich and sweet for my liking. This is where asian desserts step in and take all my money from me. I've only had shaved ice at sugar marmalade so that style is what I'm used to. But this bingsu was so fluffy and beautiful omg. My friend and I ordered the green tea bingsu to share (came to about $10) and we were both in love with it. There was a generous amount of matcha powder sprinkled on top and once you dig your spoon in, it reveals ice shaved so finely it was like snow. If we had sneezed, I'm sure half our bingsu would've flown away. I was pleasantly surprised with the texture and taste of it though. Although it may have partially been because my friend mixed it incredibly well, but it tasted so good. I initially thought we would be okay sharing the small size, but in the end I wish I had it all to myself. The mochi pieces were delicious, different from the japanese style I'm used to but still the same great chewy texture. I wish there was more mochi at the bottom too though. If I'm back in the area, I definitely will be coming back to try more flavors! The place was pretty full when we got there, mostly filled with uni students on a saturday night. I hesitate to write this review because I'd honestly like this cafe to be more of a hidden secret. The cafe is quite small, with 5-6 tables. The cafe was half filled on a Tuesday afternoon. Our Korean friend enlighten us about how Korean shaved ice is far superior to Taiwanese shaved ice. And I'd have to agree. Mind you, Taiwanese shaved ice is awesome too. But the consistency of the ice is reminiscent of very light coconut flakes. I remember I was shocked at how light it was on my first scoop. We ordered two large bowls ($10/bowl), one was red bean and green tea and the other was a soybean powder both topped with almond slices and mochi. The soybean powder was a huge surprise. It wasn't overly sweet and the powder mixed with the ice didn't leave your mouth feeling dry. Both flavours are highly recommended! I'd definitely like to come back and try more flavours. The only regret was that we only ordered two bowls between four people. Be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes. We ordered the mango ice, the black sesame ice, taro bubble tea, and the coconut slush. Mango one had a lot of topping and was pretty good. Very lightly sweetened mango syrup and mango pieces still frozen. Would be better with fresh sweet mango instead. Sesame one barely had any toppings. I like that this place offers a variety of flavors! My friends ordered mango, black sesame, coffee and red bean. The black sesame was true to its taste and delicious! In my opinion, the other flavors were ok. I ordered the injeolmi bingsu as I've had it multiple times at Snowtime. I bought small but they gave me a large. The toppings was a let down. There was barely any toppings layered within and there certainly wasn't enough for a large size. The toppings portion was suited for a small. The ice had a faint milk aftertaste but for sure, Snow Time makes their ice a lot more milkier, sweeter and tastier. If you visit on a weekend night, expect long line ups and long waits. The staff were all very cheerful and polite despite having to work non-stop. I'm glad I got to try Cups but I wouldn't purposely make the trip to have it again. read more

We went on an evening that was relatively very cold; so at first I was hesitant, however, their ice was so well made and blended in with the sweets that I barely felt I was eating ice at all. Usually for shaved ice at other places I'd taste the ice shard textures which I'm not a big fan of but for Cups it didn't really feel like I was just eating ice at all. One of my favourite dessert places! This place is always packed on weekend evenings as it's within proximity to a number of family style restaurants. Ample parking spots or just park across the street in the other plaza and walk across. They have a small and large size bingsu. I did notice they took their actual plastic cup size off the menu. Off the top of my head there are a good number of flavours, ranging from coffee, to honeydew and the classic Injeolmi. We ordered a small tiramisu flavoured bingsu and it was the perfect treat for a hot day. Strong coffee flavour - eat fast or else you'll be left with sweet soup ;) served with a small slice of tiramisu cake and whipped cream. The cake was passable as it was store bought but I really enjoyed the bingsu portion of it. Self serve water station. They take cash/debit. Washrooms are a bit small. Approximately 12 tables of 4. It'd be helpful if they had someone wipe the tables after each group finishes...we had to do this ourselves. read more

New to Bing Soo, so didn't know what to expect. Pleasantly surprised that it's actually frozen milk shavings! Like shaved ice except it's not ice coz it's made of milk. Friend & I shared a small Mango ~ sufficient for 2 ladies who are mildly careful about caloric intake. Mango cubes came from a frozen fruit pack, so it was just okay. Fresh mango would've upped the star count. First thing that struck us at first bite = The Chill. Friend got brain-freeze (hehe) but I loved how it stood unmelted as we chatted. It did melt a little at the end but we were there for almost an hour. One thing we witnessed at the end of our time there: one of the staff used a piece of paper towel to clean the "metal lip" running horizontally on the machine as it produced the "shaved milk ice". To her credit, she was careful so the milk ice didn't hit her arm on its way down to the collection tray. But Friend & I became uneasy as we watched. I think perhaps the store could use something with a handle instead, to avoid even the possibility of contamination. We were there on a weekday after lunch, so it was not crowded at all. This place is my favourite place to go to for some cold desserts. Especially what they are know for is their snow ice bingsu desserts. There's multiple different flavours to pick from my personal favourite is the Matcha green tea bingsu. They come in two size or three, I usually purchase the large size as I share it with the other person who I go with. As for the other snow ice bingsu I think they are all great as I have had about 4 out of the many flavours they sell. For their iced teas I actually enjoyed one of their fruity ones I purchased before. As for the blended drinks I wouldn't personally suggest them as it's like a cup of diabetes, but I think if u order it to be half sweet or less it may tastes better.. but that's a personal opinion. In love with their bingsu! Cups serves a number of flavours of bingsu (milk shaved ice) like mango, strawberry, black sesame, green tea and my all time favourite... injeolmi. You can choose between a small or large portion, and the price is wallet-friendly (a major plus)! We got the small injeolmi ($6.99) and a small mango ($7.99) bingsu. The injeolmi one is amazing with small chewy pieces of rice cake, mung bean powder, condensed milk and almond flakes. The mango is not as great... although the big chunks of mango, they were probably the frozen ones since it was very cold and a bit sour. I liked the mango ice cream and that they added small pieces of cheesecake for the mango bingsu! Mix it up and just enjoy - Definitely no regrets in my late night cravings!! We came one weekday evening around 7:30pm and it was fairly empty (although previous Yelpers have mentioned it can get quite busy after dinner time). We ordered the Matcha shaved ice (to share between 2 people) and it was delicious! It came up to just over $10 for the Small size, but you can also order it in a "cup size" and a large bowl. We really enjoyed the red bean and mochi. The scoop of green tea icecream on the top was a nice extra. Also, they have some interesting drinks, like a tiramisu latte that I'd love to try next time. Another great thing about this place is there is no minimum order. Some other dessert restaurants have stated that at least one item per person must be ordered. I had the Tiramisu Shaved Ice ($9.99 Small size), and my friend had the Red Bean Shaved Ice ($8.99 Small Size). Originally I was going to go for the Cup size ($2 cheaper) but they would be served in parfait cups, whereas the small size are served in bowls which presentation-wise looked way more appealing. IMO I think the Tiramisu one is a pretty good deal considering it comes with a slice of Tiramisu cake on top, although the cake was mediocre in my opinion. It was your typical asian inspired type of Tiramisu cake as opposed to having its authentic flavors. I loved the texture of the shaved ice. It looked like coconut shreds but was super soft and melts in your mouth like snow flakes. In between shaved ice were layers of condensed milk, and coffee I think? Topped with cocoa powder and chocolate chips. It was really strong in coffee flavor and the condensed milk made it nice and sweet. I really liked the flavor. Comes with a cup of espresso - I wasn't sure if i was supposed to pour it in with the shaved ice or just sip it on the side though. I did not like the Red Bean one though, taste was was nothing special. I was hoping the ice cream on top would at least be red bean flavor but nope, vanilla ice cream. Flavor for this shaved ice was slightly bland. One thing which I found odd was the Red bean shaved ice melted really quickly compared to the Tiramisu one - no sure why. We had the black sesame and injeolmi bingsoo. I preferred the black sesame ones because it has more things to chew on and more flavourful. My friends preferred the injeolmi ones. I guess it depends on what you like. Both are not too sweet and pretty big if you eat it alone. The place was quite busy (good luck trying to find parking at 7pm), you kind of had to be fast to grab some seats from some people that just finished their foods. I also ordered tiramisu latte that was VERY good. It looked like there was a tiramisu melted into the cup. Overall, I'd come back here in the future. read more

My friends and I came here on a Monday evening around 7:30pm. They weren't busy - we were their only customers! I think they were just opening up as posters were being plastered on the wall. Anyways, myself and three other friends came here after dinner and thought about treating ourselves, but we were pretty full from dinner. So we ordered, 2 small shaved ice. We were greeted very pleasantly and provided with a menu. No rush to order, which was great! We ordered their small coffee shaved ice 6.99 and their small green tea, red bean shaved ice 7.99. They provided us with 4 spoons and 4 styrofoam cups (kind of weird)! It took a fair bit to make (around 15 mins) but I said, it was probably made with love :)! Unlike regular shaved ice, the unique part of this shaved ice is... It's literally shaved ice bits... Looks just like coconut shavings (you will see in my picture). I really enjoyed both of the flavours. They were both different and unique in their own ways. Coffee shaved ice - I wasn't too sure what was in it, but from my picture, there was honey nut Cheerios, mochi, cornflakes, sliced almonds, coffee ice cream, coffee drizzle and the shaved ice. The coffee ice cream was delicious, the rest was a bit bland, but if you aren't a sweet eater, this was just right! Green tea, red bean shaved ice - wow was this good! A bit on the sweeter side (but then again, I don't eat very sweet things)! This consist of green tea ice cream, red bean, mochi, matcha powder, sliced almonds and shaved ice. Yum! Btw, I'm not much of a mochi eater, but the mochi they put on the shaved ice was... A bit salty! Maybe that's how it was suppose to be.
