It's been years since I've been back, and came here for lunch on a Thursday. It was quite busy! I recommend booking a reservation. They have complimentary valet which is nice. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Katsu sandwich ($19) with a side salad. it was delicious! Love that they used Japanese milk bread because it's so soft. My friend ordered the chopped chicken salad and it looked amazing. Would love to try that next time.

Amazing food, amazing band, great ambience and even better service from Andrea. She was truly top tier. I had the shrimp Caesar salad, which was so flavorful and left me wanting more. Monkey bread, dessert, which I couldn't stop eating, and a chocolate birthday cake shot with the new sangria on the side. Kiss the chef & bartender and give Andrea a raise. The hostess were beautiful, warm and inviting and so was valet. Great Friday night. I will be back sooner than later.

We very much enjoyed our dinner here. I had the pleasure of being able to see into the kitchen with all the cooking action and the eye-catching dishes coming out. My love was taking in all the action in the restaurant. We started with the deviled eggs. While tasty, I probably wouldn't order them again. We have had better at other places. Our entrees were both cooked perfectly and exceeded our expectations. My salmon dish was excellent. We shared the Mud Pie for dessert and it was ah-mazing! The servers were all friendly, helpful and efficient. They had plenty of staff to take care of the dinner rush crowd. We enjoy the vibe here and find it easier to converse than at some other dining establishments that can get quite noisy. Definitely worth the try if you are in the area!

Yeah the place is cool. Good vibe, came on a Friday for spring training opening. It was hella busy so be prepared to wait, we waited about 45 min for a table. The food was great, everything was fresh. I got the fried chicken and it was definitely worth the wait as they say. Juicy, delicious and filling, even the sides were decadent. The drinks were also bomb. Definitely going to try the one by me back home in California now.

Super fun, energizing experience with live music, good food, friendly service, and (thankfully) valet parking. Split the fried chicken with my daughter, loved their homemade "sweater weather" sangria. Shared soft pretzel with beer cheese dip with the table (and still had too much). Mother in law enjoyed meatloaf. Other members of our party chowed down salmon bowl and French dip sandwich. Dessert of banana pie a little disappointing after everything else was so good.

Stopped in at Culinary Dropout in Tempe for an afternoon bite with some girlfriends, and it was the perfect spot to catch up over good food and drinks. We decided to share a few appetizers, BBQ pork belly nachos, pretzel bites with fondue, and Wagyu pigs in a blanket. Everything hit the spot (though the nachos definitely stole the show). My friends tried a couple of cocktails, a Mule and a Full Moon Party, and both got good reviews. Service was friendly and efficient without being rushed, which made the afternoon feel relaxed and easy. The atmosphere is casual but lively, the kind of place where you can snack, sip, and chat without feeling like you're taking up space. I'd definitely come back, maybe next time to dive into the entrees or try a few more drinks. Four stars for tasty food, good service, and a great hangout vibe.

To have waitresses watch me swat flies away continuously and say/do nothing is egregious. I finally gave up. 30.00 for an unseasoned cheeseburger that I gave up on because the flies wanted it more than I did.

Culinary Dropout never disappoints! Every time I come back, it somehow gets even better. The food is always on point, and the service, don't even get me started. Truly some of the best service I get anywhere, every single visit. They absolutely deserve five stars. Of course I ordered their hot wings (my favorite!), and they were perfect as always. We'll definitely be back next month when we're in town for the Innings Festival at Tempe Beach Park.

Came to the pop-up bar Blitzen for New Year's Eve for the limited cocktail menu, great service is always in an awesome ambience and seen. Definitely worth doing if it's still available during the holidays.

This was the first recommendation I received after arriving into town, definitely a must visit. Service has been excellent! The waitress has been absolutely exceptional, has verified everything is coming out on time and as expected. The plates? Absolutely delicious! Can taste every bite, every ingredient. It's about lunch time, steady crowd not crowded plenty if space and sitting areas.

Always a great place to go when in Phx. Flew in to see my Oldest, her husband and the grandkids and my father who moved back to AZ recently. Service was top notch food quality was really good Pricing was meh Ambiance was great - good place to bring the kids to be able to run around and not break stuff or be obnoxious to people since in the back they have lots of space

On a late weekday evening my friend and I came here and was seated in their super enclosed patio area. Seriously, I have no idea how else to describe an area that has four walls but an elevated roof deck to allow fresh air and misters to keep cool. We had a third person joining us late and so we ordered and ate without him. I ordered the chicken cacio e pepe which was absolutely perfect. I am grateful our third wasn't present because I gulped it down like a starving woman with little to no grace or decorum. It was just lovely - perfectly al dente noodles, tender chicken, a creamy sauce - what more could a lady want? The cocktails were also very good - light, bright, and perfectly balanced. The service was absolutely amazing. Our server (whose name was Marco if I wrote it down right) was an absolute gem of a human being. He was enthusiastic and genuine. His energy was contagious. And he was so thoughtful too! He knew how to read a room. With my friend and I he was vivacious and conversational. When our third showed up (who had just got off a flight) he kept the talk minimal to match the mood. I was super impressed. I would absolutely return!

Ask the Community - Culinary Dropout

Are kids not allowed after a certain tjme?

Great question! Kids are welcome any time, although we do ask that they have supervision while they're in the gaming area. We hope to see you all soon!

Is there music playing at the Tempe location? How loud is it there overall? We'd like to be sure we can have a good conversation and not have to yell. Thank you!

There was live music playing the night I was there but not sure that is something that happens all the time. Even so it was a solo act and not very loud and actually I believe the ambient noise from the size of the crowd bar activity and tv monitors… Read more

Is there a kid's menu? I keep seeing that it's kid friendly.

Yes there is a kids menu and is kids friendly for sure.

    Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed - at least at Gilbert location.

    Are there gluten-free options?

Yes, Culinary Dropout has many gluten-free options! While I'm not sure if they offer a gluten-free bread (or lettuce wrap) for sandwiches, you can still enjoy most of their appetizers/snacks, salads, and soups... and many of their entrees!

Boss chose this joint for a business meeting....do they have anything vegan?

I know they have a vegan curry on the menu. Other than that not sure beyond salads.

Looking for a place for a pre graduation dinner for a group of 15. Can they accommodate and reserve such a group?

I would think so. The place is huge.

    Fort Worth texas?

Um, what's the question? If you're asking if there is one in Fort Worth, no, there isn't. There is only one TX location, and it's in Austin.

The oysters are a must, the steak is cooked perfectly, and everything is plated so thoughtfully it really feels like a full experience, not just a meal. The dinner staff has also always been attentive, friendly, and on point. That said, I recently came in for brunch and had a very different experience. I'm a huge pancake person, so I was excited to try the strawberry pancakes, but they were honestly disappointing. They were soggy, lacked any fluff, and had more of a cornbread texture than a pancake. The strawberry topping also wasn't very appetizing--it seemed like it was meant to be more of a sauce, but it didn't quite work. I completely understand that higher-end restaurants like to get creative with their dishes, but I think some basics like pancakes should still be done really well. I'll definitely be back for dinner, but I'd probably skip brunch next time.

Everyone behind the bar kept my water topped up and the bar free of soiled napkins and empty glasses. Prices were extremely reasonable. Few drafts on tap and am extensive bar and cocktail selection. As for the food, we had the Fish & Chips with a Mahi Mahi Slaw & Fries, the Ahi Poke Tacos which come in Wonton shells. Hot Honey and Sausage Pizza was great. The Barbacoa Nachos had all the right ingredients & the Double Smash Burger had only some "fancy sauce" on the plate. The Tempura Green Bean, can't remember who ordered, but were good with the chipotle ranch sauce. With me, I'm all about the cocktails, so I treated myself to both the Froze Margarita & the Chi Chi. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

The issue wasn't the food or atmosphere, but how the situation was handled once a conflict arose. As a visibly queer patron with mobility considerations, this raised concerns about how long-stay customers are treated, particularly when accessibility and inclusion are part of the venue's public messaging. This was a situation that could have been resolved with clearer communication and basic service recovery (including acknowledgment or compensation for the disruption). Instead, it left me feeling dismissed. I've documented the full experience, including accessibility observations, for anyone who wants additional context. I loved the little Coca-Cola truck out front. Our server gave great suggestions when we asked what to order, and my boyfriend loved his Queen cocktail which was pretty sweet. I got a pecan espresso martini which was also delicious. For food, I ordered a hamburger which was huge! I couldn't eat half my fries because the portions here are outstanding. I had a bite of my boyfriend's pasta and the sauce was to die for. For a cute, casual date night I'd highly recommend this spot, but they also have larger tables for bigger groups and the outside seating looked like a fun vibe as well!

Their espresso martini was just fine. Our food was nothing too impressive. The bruschetta came out a bit cold - like it was in the freezer and needed to thaw out much longer. The bread also came out a bit cold. Calamari was fine and I really wanted to love the blondie dessert but that too seemed like the temperature was just a bit off. That being said, we sat for a couple of hours enjoying the views and cozy seating. I'd go back and try different menu items.

The food was decently priced but expect to atleast spend $200-$250 for two people minimum. The menu was small which was not bad cause the food was incredible. We got the pork chop which was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. The pasta was also really good! There were only two scallops and 3 shrimp on there and it was black squid ink pasta which I have had elsewhere before and it didn't color my lips and teeth like it did with this so if this was a first date, I'd say no to that dish haha but it was delicious. We got a bottle of moscato to share which was a great choice and then we got dessert for free which we did not expect but definitely appreciated as it was delightful. We watched the sunset and it was gorgeous, the sky was like a painting. Pictures didn't do justice so I didn't have night time pics. You'll just have to go see it for yourself! Also, our server was very nice. She was attentive in all the right moments

Upon entering, the interior is beautiful and clean, albeit very quiet and the outdoor view of the city is extraordinary. We were seated in a booth with a direct view of the kitchen. For a cocktail, I ordered an Espresso Martini which was made beautifully. We were also served a jalapeño (I believe) Focaccia with some honey butter Madeline's, also very delicious. For my entree, I ordered a Chicken dish and it was presented absolutely beautiful. It took around 45 minutes for us to receive our food and the temperature was not up to par. It tasted fine enough but would have been better fresh off the press and cooked a little longer. Ultimately, the other members of my party asked for refunds the next day as they were not happy with their food either. Our service lacked a little also which is disappointing because we were really looking forward to dining here and I cannot confidently say I will be returning.

The bread on the sandwich was tough, the bacon bits were chewy, hard knots, and the sandwich was dry overall. The sweet potato fries were greasy and tough and not hot. Our server was friendly and prompt. He was very quick to refill my drink. I will say that both my chair and our table rocked terribly, so was not very comfortable.
