    Mac Bites and Wise Fries

Fun vibe and cool decor. Private parking lot makes it easy to visit this Tempe spot. Inside is cool decored with owls, skate stuff, and pinball. Loud atmosphere. Service was great and food was good. Fries got a little soggy with the sauce for the bottom bunch of fries. The Mac bites were yum. Pizza by the slice for $5.

I came back two days in a rowww because it was that good. Starting Friday, I came with a friend and sat at the bar. We both ordered the Tongue in Groove, and it's officially my new favorite thing. The pizza was amazingggg. so amazing that I came back Saturday at lunch with my family. This time we sat in a booth inside and went for a more laid-back kind of day. Really cute decor. Mac bites: 10/10. Fries: 10/10. Our bartender on Saturday was so sweet and energetic. Loved everything she recommended.

Super cool restaurant with amazing decor, artwork and provides a dark, moody atmosphere. We came in for dinner during the week. We were greeted and seated right away for two. Our server Boston was friendly, let us know about the pizza slice sizes and checked in on our table. The food we order was delicious and we really enjoyed our dinner. The pizza was toasty and warm. We both got full with one slice plus our sides. The wings were ordered tossed and were saucy. The ranch was good. The fries were flavorful and crispy. They have coke products. We ordered the following items. - Pep Slice (Classic Pepperoni). $4.25 -So Fresh So Clean Slice (Veggie) $4.75 -Wing (6) $10 - Wise Fries $6 - Dr. Pepper $3 Our total after tax was around $30. We would recommend and we would come again.

Stopped her while visiting our son in Tempe, it's very close to his apartment so wanted to give it a try. The place is super cute with so much to look at. Our server was new but very helpful with the menu and willing to get answers for us if she wasn't sure about our questions. The pizza crust was nice and crispy and remind that way until gone. The wings and fries were very good as well. The menu is pretty simple but we saw many other things we'd like to try the next time we go. We had a great time in their little video game area after we ate.

We really love Night Owl in Scottsdale, and we're happy they opened another location in Tempe, closer to our stomping grounds. The theme is the same here--vintage owls, video games, skateboards, and wood log slices. I will say, though, that this location is a little less "ka-pow" than the other location. There is no giant alligator or neon clowns or shoes in the ceiling (at least none that I saw). But no worries! The great service and delicious food are here, and it is still a cool decor with games. The patio is really great here, to, with a big shade tree and steering lights. We ordered a caesar salad and a The Boss pizza. The Caesar salad was delicious - - the dressing was good, and I can be picky about dressing. The pizza was so yummy, with so much meat. The quest here is really good like a light airy bread. Just as our visits to the other location, we had a great time and a great meal. This is already a place we go back to, and I don't expect that to change.

I had high hopes for Night Owl because I've had multiple friends tell me great feedback about it. We finally got to try when they opened a Tempe location and unfortunately I was disappointed. The pizza and wings, according to my partner were good, but for me and my boys it wasn't as good as we expected it to be. The burger was very bland, even ate the other half the next day to see if I was just not in the mood for it the night before but it was still bland and no good for me. I did get an upgrade on my fries for extra $$, and got the Wise Fries. Glad I did because that's all I ate that night. It was really good and we had to order another serving. For the price we paid, I wish the food was better. Our server was nice and we have no complaints. The place was cool and had interesting decor. The game room was a little lackluster for us, I think my kids have been spoiled from the other place we go to.

I didn't realize the prior restaurant Golden Pineapple has become a new Night Owl location. This Mill location opened 2 weeks ago per staff. I'm not mad at that! I used to enjoy this spot when it was Golden Pineapple and we are regulars at the Scottsdale Night Owl so we were happy to come in and support the new location. This Mill Ave restaurant has a pinball alcove in the back and other games too. There's also Zoltar machine near the fireplace. It's a larger overall footprint. More bar seating and tables, however smaller patio for outdoor seating. This location offers the same (or very similar) menu. I noticed they have a cocktail called "Golden Pineapple" as a nod to the previous place. So in honor of that, I ordered it. It's a tiki type frozen drink and when it's almost 80 degrees in December, a frozen cocktail totally works :) It's tasty. Think piña colada type drink. I also ordered the lunch special- a slice of pepperoni pizza and 4 wings. They taste as good here as the other location. I like the burgers at Night Owl and that's usually what I order but we came in this time for just a snack and to check it out. For being open only 2 weeks things went smoothly and everything as expected. That's a good sign for a second location.

Yo! The chicken is juicy here y'all. Chicken juicy grilled and crunch. Pepperoni has pep! Cocktails are fly. Patron's are chill. I'm coming back next Friday.

Visited a 2nd time this past Thursday, sat at the bar, Corey and Catalina were serving that night, also met the manager Desiree, we had meatballs and garlic cheesy knots and I had white pizza and my man had a slice of classic cheese, the meatballs really good served in a small cast iron pan with lots of melty cheese, and the garlic knits were cheesy hot and delicious, the slices were hot and the crust is so good! We love it we'll keep going back, apparently the wings are 10/10 - need to try them!

Holy cow! This place is incredible. My sister and I came here after work before we had to head to a meeting. We wanted a little drink and something to share. This place hit the nail on the head. We ate outside on the patio. It was a beautiful evening and the weather was perfect. We were served by Boston. I want to stop and truly recognize what an amazing server she was. She was kind, attentive, gave the perfect recommendations, and was very funny. Felt like chatting with a friend. Staff like that isn't common so we were glad that everyone we interacted with was that kind and helpful. Ok, the food. Boston gave us the idea that 6 speciality slices is about the prices of a whole speciality pizza... so we got five. These slices are giant. Like almost cartoon-y, exaggeratedly large. Like that scene from the Goofy Movie where Max and PJ eat pizza in the ocean themed motel room. And man, it was good. The Pretty Fly for a White Pie was my favorite. Creamy, loaded with toppings sat on a crispy crust. Mmmm... We were only able to eat a slice and a half each. But the pizza reheated well for lunch today. The Pineapple Express and The Boss were what they promised. Now the wings...That Stardust dry rub needs to be sold right now. It's like Old Bay and Lawrys had a slight smoky baby. I liked that the wings were baked but still crispy on the outside. The Wise Fries are delicious. I'm not a parm/truffle fry girlie but I definitely used my younger sibling whining to finish them off. And the ranch, THE RANCH. It's perfect. No notes. I am a true believer they need a weekly special that's like a loaded potato skin pizza with that ranch on top. (If it happens, I won't even claim royalties) I shared that with the server and the owner said they will R&D it. Finally, the drinks. I got the Moonage Daydream. It tastes like the aura of the cool girl in school that you are pretty sure is a witch. Bright, ethereal, but with depth and a smoky hue. Strong in a good way. I will definitely be back. Also, if you recall the guy who vandalized this spot prior to opening with a funny phrase from Tempe on the news, check out a hidden homage to him on the train in the main atrium area of the restaurant.

    Roadhouse Burger Of The Week

This place is worth trying! I came here on a Thursday night around 5:30, it was relatively busy, but we were able to get seated right away. The vibe here is awesome, there was live music and the decor inside is kinda retro and edgy. Kinda energy where you can sit and enjoy drinks for hours. Started off with the wise style wings, I ordered them crispy with sauce on the side and I would do it again. Wings that are labeled as "sweet" can be hit or miss for me but this was a great blend of sweet, spice, and savory. I got the sidewalk surfer pizza, it was the perfect blend of spicy and refreshing. My husband got the weekly special, Roadhouse Burger and said it was good! Service was great. The server was able to answer questions we had and make suggestions based on our preferences. I will definitely be back!

Maui Waui Slice (Hawaiian) & Elotero Slice
    Patrick L.

Night Owl, an absolute banger of a -night- spot. This location in particular is more open compared to their Scottsdale location which is more towards the interior aesthetics with the army of vintage arcade pinball machines. I had the Barn Owl burger, Maui Waui Pizza Slice, alongside the Elotero Slice. Off the bat, I give the Burger 8/10, Maui 7.8/10, and the Elotero 7/10. My preferences for the burger to climb in rating would be, having more of the special sauce slathered on each bun. The highlight of the dish was how every bite was cohesive, fully hitting the stomach and satisfying the savory/barbecue department while bringing harmony with the lettuce and tomato as the fresh components. The pizza slices treated me well, just overall personal preference dictated the ratings which isn't bad. I would want less mayo on-top of the Elotero slice because it makes it soggy after a few minutes, would exchange for more chili lime flavoring infusion, and again that's my preference nothing wrong with this version. Throughout the night, everyone checked in on our table in a timely manner. The staff were so wonderful letting us hangout and chat after our bill was paid and food was already done. They have a bar that we didn't try out but will for sure bring the night friends to check it out!

I love the giant disco balls and the aesthetic of this place. We started with the appletini and lemongrass highball (non-alcoholic). My friend and I ended up switching drinks because we liked each other's more than our own. For the second round, we ordered the brandy spritz and primrose martini. We weren't fans of the brandy spritz, although my friend grew into it. The primrose martini was quite good, I liked it better than the appletini. For snackies, we ordered the glizzy gaunlet, which was basically a tower of carbs. It came with 5 mini dogs with milk bread, and potato wedges. There were 3 sauces, my favorite in order were the: truffle dijonnaise, kosho aioli, and korean ketchup. We enjoyed this more than the food at Filthy Animal. Although it was pricey ($22) for just carbs and hardly any protein. The milk bread was delicious and the mini dogs were pretty good too. The potato wedges were cooked perfectly, slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Would I return? Probably not. The food was better than the drinks but it wasn't outstanding.

The most recent was…read moreon a Thursday night around 10:30 p.m. This speakeasy is located on Mill Ave., the center of Tempe's party scene. Because of its location, parking isn't easy. If you're looking for free parking, you're going to have a long walk. Outside of that, you'll have to pay for parking in a garage or metered street parking. Ambiance (4/5): Hint hint. Idle Hands is located inside Devil's Hideaway. A true speakeasy shouldn't have signage outside indicating its location. Unfortunately, there's a sign for Idle Hands outside of Devil's Hideaway which takes away the sense of mystery and intrigue that a true speakeasy provides. Outside of this hiccup, it's a cool speakeasy. It's intimate, with 10 or so seats at the bar and about 10 seats in booths facing the bar. There's a projector screen behind the bar that had mystical motion graphics the first time I stopped by (thinking wizards) and Halloween motion graphics the second time (with it being a day before the holiday). There were some other Halloween decorations up. The only area of improvement? The music often doesn't match the vibe. A lot of the music they were playing on my last visit was Irish music that would be fitting for a pub. Service (4/5): I had the same bartender each time. He knows how to make a good drink and is pretty efficient. When you close out, he only gives you the merchant copy. Which is a pet peeve of mine. Let me get that customer copy too. But overall, a good experience. Especially at a college bar. Food (N/A): I've only had drinks both times. Idle Hands actually doesn't have food, but Devil's Hideaway does. And you're allowed to bring food from there into the speakeasy. Drinks (4.5/5): It's pretty surprising to see a speakeasy on a college campus. I was impressed with the creativity of the menu, both in terms of the ingredients used and the fusion of flavors. I've had a different cocktail each time, and they've all been great. My favorite was one served in a box filled with smoke. Talk about a cool presentation! The hallmarks of a solid speakeasy are elevated cocktails, nice ambiance (dimly lit), an intimate space, and mystery/intrigue. While the intrigue is lacking at Idle Hands, and the music can be improved, they hit it out of the park in the other areas. One of my favorite speakeasies I've been to in Phoenix (and surrounding areas). I am, after all, the self-appointed king of speakeasies. The king gives his stamp of approval.
