Crispy Chicken Katsu
Jessica L.

Got the crispy chicken katsu. The buttermilk toast goes so well with the katsu. I like mine without hoison sauce. There is a lot of seating inside. The service not so attentive but friendly.

The Wellness Retreat is one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Please never take this off the menu!

Pretzel bites

Came in with a large group and was happy they were able to accommodate all 14 of us, even though it was very crowded on a Tuesday. Malone was an amazing server, catering to our every need and sent out other bus people to assist when she couldn't service us. Pretzel bites were fresh and delish. Loved my salmon and corn mush.

Came here for lunch and it was really good. I got a salad with salmon and once again I forgot to ask for dressing on the side but it was still good. Salmon was perfectly cooked and tasty. Plenty of parking outside. This restaurant is huge and can accommodate large parties should you need a place to bring friends and coworkers. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Wings
Shane J.

Great spot with a ton of beers on tap and plenty of bar seating. It fills up fast--especially during the brunch rush--so getting a table can be tough if you don't get there early. The wings looked amazing (presentation was a 5/5), but didn't quite fall off the bone, so I'd give them a 4. Prices are reasonable, and the servers were friendly, but the place gets pretty chaotic, so service isn't the fastest. Overall, a fun, lively spot--just be ready for a bit of a wait and some noise.

It's been years since I've been back, and came here for lunch on a Thursday. It was quite busy! I recommend booking a reservation. They have complimentary valet which is nice. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Katsu sandwich ($19) with a side salad. it was delicious! Love that they used Japanese milk bread because it's so soft. My friend ordered the chopped chicken salad and it looked amazing. Would love to try that next time.

Campfire Vibes

We had an awesome birthday celebration at Culinary Dropout. The facility is huge and incredibly lively, with a fun outdoor area that has games for all patrons to play. The long bar is impressive and the drinks were excellent. I had the Campfire Vibes, which I highly recommend. For food, we started with the pretzel bites, which Culinary is known for, but I also tried the crispy katsu chicken sandwich, which was out of this world. Great food, great service, and an all-around great vibe. Definitely a fun spot to visit in Tempe.

Sweater Weather Sangria
Sachelle H.

Amazing food, amazing band, great ambience and even better service from Andrea. She was truly top tier. I had the shrimp Caesar salad, which was so flavorful and left me wanting more. Monkey bread, dessert, which I couldn't stop eating, and a chocolate birthday cake shot with the new sangria on the side. Kiss the chef & bartender and give Andrea a raise. The hostess were beautiful, warm and inviting and so was valet. Great Friday night. I will be back sooner than later.

I prefer the Gilbert location as it is easier to get to. My meal was good, service was okay for how busy it was.

The bar before the holiday party and dinner crowd arrived.

We very much enjoyed our dinner here. I had the pleasure of being able to see into the kitchen with all the cooking action and the eye-catching dishes coming out. My love was taking in all the action in the restaurant. We started with the deviled eggs. While tasty, I probably wouldn't order them again. We have had better at other places. Our entrees were both cooked perfectly and exceeded our expectations. My salmon dish was excellent. We shared the Mud Pie for dessert and it was ah-mazing! The servers were all friendly, helpful and efficient. They had plenty of staff to take care of the dinner rush crowd. We enjoy the vibe here and find it easier to converse than at some other dining establishments that can get quite noisy. Definitely worth the try if you are in the area!

Yeah the place is cool. Good vibe, came on a Friday for spring training opening. It was hella busy so be prepared to wait, we waited about 45 min for a table. The food was great, everything was fresh. I got the fried chicken and it was definitely worth the wait as they say. Juicy, delicious and filling, even the sides were decadent. The drinks were also bomb. Definitely going to try the one by me back home in California now.

Pretzel and beer cheese dip.

Super fun, energizing experience with live music, good food, friendly service, and (thankfully) valet parking. Split the fried chicken with my daughter, loved their homemade "sweater weather" sangria. Shared soft pretzel with beer cheese dip with the table (and still had too much). Mother in law enjoyed meatloaf. Other members of our party chowed down salmon bowl and French dip sandwich. Dessert of banana pie a little disappointing after everything else was so good.

Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket
Michelle B.

Stopped in at Culinary Dropout in Tempe for an afternoon bite with some girlfriends, and it was the perfect spot to catch up over good food and drinks. We decided to share a few appetizers, BBQ pork belly nachos, pretzel bites with fondue, and Wagyu pigs in a blanket. Everything hit the spot (though the nachos definitely stole the show). My friends tried a couple of cocktails, a Mule and a Full Moon Party, and both got good reviews. Service was friendly and efficient without being rushed, which made the afternoon feel relaxed and easy. The atmosphere is casual but lively, the kind of place where you can snack, sip, and chat without feeling like you're taking up space. I'd definitely come back, maybe next time to dive into the entrees or try a few more drinks. Four stars for tasty food, good service, and a great hangout vibe.

Are kids not allowed after a certain tjme?

Great question! Kids are welcome any time, although we do ask that they have supervision while they're in the gaming area. We hope to see you all soon!

Is there music playing at the Tempe location? How loud is it there overall? We'd like to be sure we can have a good conversation and not have to yell. Thank you!

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed - at least at Gilbert location.

Are there gluten-free options?

Yes, Culinary Dropout has many gluten-free options! While I'm not sure if they offer a gluten-free bread (or lettuce wrap) for sandwiches, you can still enjoy most of their appetizers/snacks, salads, and soups... and many of their entrees!

Boss chose this joint for a business meeting....do they have anything vegan?

I know they have a vegan curry on the menu. Other than that not sure beyond salads.

Looking for a place for a pre graduation dinner for a group of 15. Can they accommodate and reserve such a group?

I would think so. The place is huge.

Fort Worth texas?

Um, what's the question? If you're asking if there is one in Fort Worth, no, there isn't. There is only one TX location, and it's in Austin.

The exterior had a satisfying caramelized crust while the inside remained wonderfully succulent. The accompanying sides complemented the dish perfectly, adding fresh textures and flavors that balanced the richness of the meat. What stood out most was the restaurant's ability to combine creative cooking with high-quality ingredients. The lamb chops showcased excellent technique while allowing the natural flavors of the meat to shine through. It's clear that great care goes into both the preparation and presentation of every dish. We arrived in time for sunset, and it did not disappoint. Watching the sunset over the Phoenix skyline made for a beautiful evening, and the restaurant itself has a unique atmosphere. We had a 7:30 reservation and were checked in right on time, we were seated outside, but there was very little shade, and unfortunately it was a hot, humid, and windy evening, so it wasn't the most comfortable dining experience. Our server, Sergio, was friendly, but we had to ask several times for water refills. One of the highlights before the meal was the complimentary bread service. The bread and butter were delicious, and the staff member who brought it out took the time to explain each item on the board which was a nice touch. The food was good. The 8 oz filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was the highlight of the meal, tender, flavorful, and worth ordering. We had enjoyed the desserts. The chocolate mousse was rich and creamy, and the Pavlova was light, fresh, and beautifully presented with berries. That said, the outdoor seating wasn't quite as relaxing as we expected. It was pretty windy the evening we visited, which made dining outside a little uncomfortable. The resort Pool is directly below the patio, and there happened to be a party going on, so there was quite a bit of noise. The restaurant also overlooks the freeway. Traffic wasn't heavy during our visit, but I imagine the road noise and air quality could be more noticeable during busier times. Overall, if you are looking for a scenic dinner with a memorable sunset, top of the rock is worth visiting. Just be prepared for the weather if you sit outside and know that the ambiance can depend on what's happening around the resort. The steak alone is reason enough to come back.

My girlfriend loved the views, but if I'm being honest, I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm from San Diego and I've seen far better. A view overlooking the freeway just isn't all that impressive to me personally. Still, I've passed this place on the freeway so many times and always wondered about it, so it felt special to finally check it off the list. We arrived about 10 minutes late, and I'll say the host that greeted us was a bit rude. We waited a few minutes before he took us back to our table. I will say there's an odd smell when you first walked in and I'm grateful that we sat outside. Once we sat down though, our waitress was attentive the entire night. We started with the charcuterie board, which honestly felt a little basic to me. The smoked Gouda was fine, but I would've preferred something sharper like an aged Gouda, and a more thoughtfully curated spread overall. The meats were okay, nothing that really stood out. On the drinks side, I tried two. The berry limeade was absolutely delicious, highly recommend that one! The traditional margarita though? Not it. Way too sweet for my taste. I don't think most Americans really know what a true margarita is supposed to be. I was hoping for something less sweet and more authentic. It is what it is, I drank it anyway (more because of the price than anything). But the entrées? Spot on. My girlfriend got the Miso Glazed Sea Bass served over potato purée with asparagus and a citrus beurre blanc. She said it was delicious. I had the Seasonal Ravioli with grana padano, white truffle oil, and added wild mushrooms on top. Incredible flavor, did not disappoint. I will say though, the ravioli plating wasn't all that appetizing. The sauce color came off bland and boring, and a little garnish like some micro greens on top could've gone a long way to elevate it. For a place like this (and the price), I expect the plating to be just as on point as the flavor. I'd say the same for the table setting, lighting and cleanliness of the table, I'd really rate that C level. Our waitress surprised us with complimentary champagne for the birthday, which was such a sweet touch. No clue what it was, but it was so good she ordered a second glass. They also brought us a small dessert that said Happy 40th Birthday for my girlfriend, which was really thoughtful. And the sunset? That part was genuinely beautiful. We got some great photos. All in all, a decent experience overall. It's pricey, and not somewhere I'd rush back to, but for a special occasion every now and then? Worth it to my GF and that's all that matters at the end of the day because it was her birthday celebration.
