All they have to do is provide you with a 30 day notice, as if you could do anything about it. As an example, we rented our storage unit one year ago at a rate of $99. Within 6 months they raised it to $178. Just received a new bill (with no 30 day notice) that they increased it to $206. Such as dishonest approach. I've rented with other extraspace locations such as the one in DC on Taylor Street and never faced this issue. Avoid at all costs so you don't get stuck paying to move your stuff in 6 or 12 months to another location.

I had to send the movers to a different drop off point so that I didn't have to pay them to wait for someone at CubeSmart to show up. This made an already stressful move even more stressful.

Nate was very kind when he unlocked the door and processed my check out interrupting his meal break. One of the owners that stopped by was kind in allowing his staff to conduct business and not power tripping his position or agenda. The business was kind by offering affordable specials. And even more kindly in not using their specials as a trap. With a month to month lease, I could have been stuck paying numerous increases while deployed as I would not have any opportunity to change storage facilities while away. But this didn't happen. The two increases I received were reasonable over the year plus a few months that I rented there. This is a kind business by practice and by people. It's nice to know that they still exist. One aspect that I would like to see improved is the connection between the internet specials and the units divulged when renting. Getting a straight answer was next to impossible. I ended up not getting what I wanted because I didn't have the correct screen shot for the special I was requesting. Every staff member (all three of them) in both of my rental transactions told me something didn't exist when it did on the internet. Even pressing them for it did not help. They honored what I could prove but did not produce what I knew existed. Time constraints restricted how it all played out. It would also be helpful if they had common practices, percentages and schedules for increases. Guessing at how a business will conduct themselves is never assumed to be in the customers favor. A month to month lease leaves the customer vulnerable. When on deployment for a year or longer, it offers no reassurance for the reasonable or kind.

The movers were amazing and the cost for them to pick it up was MUCH lower than what it would have cost us to hire movers and have them put everything in storage. One thing that I was not entirely prepared for was providing a comprehensive list of every item and box size prior to pick up. I over estimated the space we would need (to be safe) and they adjusted the monthly fee down after they stored everything because my items didn't take up as much space as I inputted. I've been using MakeSpace for over 2 years and I absolutely love the concept. They come pick up…read moreyour items, store them, and charge you for only the space you need. So the less items you store, the lower the monthly rate, which I've found to be very reasonable and fair. The only catch is that when you need your items delivered, the delivery fees can be very high ($20-40+) depending on how far advance you schedule the delivery. If you use their bins and end up emptying them out at home, they will charge $30 to pick up the bin(s) or charge $15 per bin that you decide to keep. This is how they make their money. MakeSpace is best for items you want to keep in long-term storage but not ideal if for items you need regularly.
