We had the tuna tartare, pulpo a la gallega, ceviche de corvina, and Pinot Grigio (at the lovely waiter's recommendation). Everything was flavorful and perfectly portioned. The tuna was on a base of smooth avocado, topped with a light sauce and sesame seeds. The pulpo a la gallega, resting on a bed of scalloped potato, was smokey and warm. Tender and perfectly textured. Ever have tough octopus with chewy skin? Not here you won't. The ceviche was citrusy, refreshing, and served with red onion strips cooked in the citric acid. I know it's not the traditional Calle Ocho food, but if you enjoy tapas do yourself a favor and stop in. Even if you're not sure, give it a try. You'll thank me later. read more

Cubata is a restaurant situated in the heart Little Havana, in Calle Ocho. Little Havana has become a hot spot place for local and tourists alike to eat, shop and people watch. As you enter the place, the setting is quaint with Spanish inspired decor throughout. At any table, you have a wonderful view of the bar where you can see the bartenders crafting their signature cocktails. For those looking to sit outside, there are about 5 small tables, perfect for enjoying the south Florida weather and people watching. There is a nice, small list of cocktails, beer and wine that will suit your current mood. We decided to have a couple of glasses of wine from the house list. At first I had the Tempranillo, to be honest, I found it to be sweet and a little off for being a Tempranillo. The staff, was very accommodating and switched me over to the cab which was more my style. The service was a bit slow for a Saturday afternoon, but the staff was very nice. We did not get the chance to try any of the food, only because we ate a big lunch prior to visiting, but we hope to return, especially for happy hour. read more

My wife and I wandered into Cubata and had the orange chicken and a cubata cubano sandwich, followed by rice pudding. Everything was presented well and tasted great. While we ate our lunch, a constant stream of walking food tours came through, so we realized the guides in the area know it is a great experience for their customers too. Don't go unless you like to be ignored. Our party ordered sandwiches, they each came at different times. It's not that complicated to make ham/cheese sandwiches. We were never checked on and we had to refill our own water from the bar. Insult to injury, they automatically charged 18% tip without an opportunity to pay what we felt the dinner deserved. I looooove this place, the live music, location and food. Brought cousin who was visiting from Atlanta and he too fell in love with the joint. We order some tapas like gambas al ajillo(shrimp in garlic sauce, the assorted croquetas, the board with ibérico and prosciutto, manchego cheese, also the ensaladilla rusa(potato salad) and the octopus which was one of my faves. They had live music, like tropical and salsa and that added the perfect ambiance for a Friday night whilst enjoying a bottle of Rioja red wine and sitting outside with perfect weather. What a pleasant surprise in the heart of Little Havana. Cubata is just the right size for a tapas and wine bar. Enough seating for a good crowd but nothing too overwhelming that might impact service. The decor and branding is right on point. The food was absolutely delectable. My sister and I ordered way too much but I'd do it over in a heart beat. We had the Pan con Tomate and a Tabla of meats and cheeses to start. We then got a caprese sandwich which had the perfect blend of pesto and seasoning. We enjoyed a red blend wine through which exquisitely complimented the meal. We closed our evening with the most delectable Arroz con Leche I have ever had. On the spur of the moment decided to visit Cubata. The place is just great. The vibe is lively and the space very nice. Everything we had was delicious. Pan con tomate, croquetas, and garlic shrimp were perfectly made. They have main dishes but we didn't try them . I was told the chef is Cuban but lived many years in Spain. It shows as the tapas are expertly executed. We had one of the best mojitos in Miami!! Service was attentive We were not expecting it but they had excellent live music. It did not state the Pimiento De Piquillo Relleno De Bacalao was made with a bachmel (flour - Allergy) nor that the filling was a purée. Considering that it is not a cooked item, it was extremely inconsiderate, and the servers never apologized and automatically charged an 18% service fee. We were so upset we just decided to leave.
