Crown Landing is located inside the Loews Coronado Resort, serving California Coastal Cuisine. We decided to have a dinner here since is their fancy restaurant option and is open till 10:PM. With much anticipation after walking in downtown half of our day, we knew this will be a well deserved dinner. They have one-of-a kind, inspired dinners and we wanted to experience that type of dinning casual yet elegant. No reservation required. We came in and were greeted by Marcos we seated on a booth with wonderful views of the waterfront marina and of the boats with its Christmas decorations it created a great atmosphere-great mood. We really loved the views. The service Marcos, was really friendly and courteous, he greeted us and introduced himself he asked friendly questions before taking the order we fund that he added a personal touch is impressive service. We ordered the Kale Ceasar it had baby kale, spinach, anchovies, avocado tartar, white radish topped with parmessan dressing it was delightfully-pleasantly plated it was simple-yet-delicious. My friend ordered the from the Sea dinner plate Swordfish, served with white beans, spinach, turnips, and almond-peppercorn pesto.Served on a fantastic presentation and full of great flavors paired with the Pinnapple Margarita beautiful and great taste. We really enjoyed the tasty- flavorful dinners that are created by Chef Jamie Dunn and are topped with a beautiful views. TIP: check in with yelp and get a 20% off from your total. Crown Landing is a new restaurant located inside Loews Hotel in Coronado. I was able to attend a dinner here last month that included an 8 course meal! I also got to try their fresh craft cocktails and appetizers at the bar before heading to the restaurant. I had little bites that were nicely presented and went well with the alcoholic beverages they offered. The drinks were so pretty! It was interesting to learn how they were made- a lot of mixing goes into it, so they are not just bartenders, but mixologists ;). They dehydrate the garnishes and make everything themselves. I'm not much of a drinker, but their concoctions really enticed me to try them all! When it was time to eat, we headed over to our own private dining area, which was nicely decorated. The decor was very simple, but so inviting! I love the lights on the ceiling and earthy decorations on the table. For dinner, I had the surf and turf carpacio, roasted squash salad, crisp octopus, shrimp toast, duck ragout, lobster boil, and New York strip. Everything I had was so delicious, especially with the chef's unique twists. The only complaint is that the lobster boil was a little bit salty for me. The New York strip was amazing and so flavorful, since it was prepared sous vide style. Overall, each dish was prepared well and not too heavy, either. I was able to finish all of it! I saved room for dessert, which was a spiced devil's food cake with blood orange sorbet. It was decadent and so yummy. Service was excellent too! I never had to ask for anything and got new utensils each time a new entree was served. I can't wait to come back here! It's the perfect spot for a romantic night out and it doesn't feel like you're dining in a hotel. One of the best of dishes I ever had!!! The food, amazingly tasty, the fish dishes amazzzingly well cooked and tasteful! The best clam chowder I ever had! The food was so good that I ordered 3 dishes just to try their different foods, even though I was already full! The food and the view are fair. However, the place is overpriced, especially in consideration of the extremely poor service. With the restaurant almost empty the staff took over 10 minutes to clean one table. Then the waiter ignored us most of the time. The wife and I stayed at Loews for our 5th wedding anniversary earlier this month. We decided to come down for a nice breakfast on Monday morning and we were very glad we did. The patio was perfect. No one was around so we got to pick any table. It was cool and the marine layer kept the temperature perfect. Watching the water traffic on the marina and checking out the huge houses was the perfect experience. A+ for ambiance. Our waiter was attentive, but left us alone at the same time. He was quick to refill coffee (to the point I was a bit over-caffeinated!) and water without being intrusive. I had the chilaquiles and the wife had the hash. We decided that if you mixed the two together, it was the perfect dish! Crown Landing would be worth going to even if you're not staying at the hotel. read more

Just had a wonderful experience here with a great seafood dinner. Awesome service, beautiful location with outdoor seating on the water and delicious food. I see some reviews calling dishes overpriced, but I respectfully disagree and felt the quality exceeded the prices, especially considering the location on Coronado. I would definitely come back. We had the octopus which was super tender and delicious, the fish tacos that were marvelous and the sea bass special which I found to be cooked perfectly. It was probably the best sea bass I've ever had. Also, our toddler's food came out immediately and took him from hangry to satisfied in no time. Add an extensive wine and cocktail list to the mix and I don't see how you could find fault here. For us, five stars all the way and we will be back. read more

We needed a place to enjoy coffee and some morning sustenance this past Sunday. Our favorite spot is closed on Sunday...Oh Calypso needs her rest. (I plan to review Calypso this evening for dinner and in the morning for breakfast) Crown Exchange located inside the Coronado Cay resort‍ Pro's- open on Sunday Walked to the boat rental house and sat in a great corner table with a view of boats. Got to see an octopus swim into the shallow looking for its breakfast. Con's- Limited coffee selection by you guessed it Starbucks‍ Coffee was only warm in temp. The kid behind the counter was not familiar with heating equipment at all but tried to the best of knowledge. Our chocolate croissant was good but not great. Oh and park to pay even with validation‍ We will be back to try again after Covid has less of a grip. read more

This place could be so much better especially since it's at a 4+ star hotel. Saw the buffet breakfast and it was not as impressive especially at $35 per adult. The sausages were not cooked enough, barely boiled and the smoked salmon looked a little . It's not orange pink, and not quite fresh looking. You're better off ordering the Eggs Benedict for $23+ which was worth it. The mocha I ordered could be so much better but tasted more like half Coffee and instant hot chocolate! The Christmas day brunch at Crown Landing (not to be confused with the nearby Crown Room brunch) was a special treat. The highlights were the prime rib, chicken pot pie, poached shrimp, slow roasted porchetta, and apple and raisin bread pudding. The view of the bay from the hotel is gorgeous. My family and I came here to eat on a Friday night since the other restaurant (La Cantina) was closed already by 5PM. It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. The three of us shared the Dungeness Crab Cake, Blood Orange Ceviche, Mussels & Frites, Tuna Poke, and Baja Fish Tacos. FOOD: -Dungeness Crab Cake [$16]: Texture of the crab cake and its skin was perfect. Definitely my favorite of all the appetizers we ordered. Wish it was bigger though. -Blood Orange Ceviche [$17]: This was the most sour ceviche I have ever tasted. Stay away! -Mussels & Frites [$16]: This dish was OK. The texture of the mussels were a little soft. -Tuna Poke [$17]: Nothing special. Not worth the price. -Baja Fish Tacos [$14]: The tacos were OK as well. The fish was fried. Again, nothing special. SERVICE: -The server and host were nice, however the food came out very, very slowly. The restaurant was basically empty so we were unsure why everything came out so slowly. My one drink took forever to come out - it came out after some appetizers already came out. On a good note - my mom never tried a tomato based clam chowder so our server gave my mother a sample of it, so that was nice of him. OVERALL: I would not come back here or recommend this restaurant to a friend, but there aren't any other fancy restaurant sit-in options if you stay at the Coronado Loews Resort. Having heard about the beautiful accommodations at Lowe's Coronado, I've wanted to try this restaurant for some time. We reserved a table for two on the patio and our experience was beyond stellar from arrival at the resort to the sunset drive back across the strand. Chef Zakk took the time to visit our table when we had special requests regarding vegan dining options. He took the liberty to custom create dishes and modify existing menu items to suit the needs of my companion. From the freshly handmade noodles, to the perfectly cooked steak everything was to die for. The dishes he brought out we're all even more delicious than they were eye pleasing. We felt like we received a luxury fine dining experience at a very reasonable price. Chef Zakk, our server Daniel, and the entire staff at Crown Landing made us feel important and taken care of. I'd give it 0 if I could and it's what it deserves. We never saw a waiter at all. The hostess said she would be right back with a high chair and we never saw her again. Everyone around us had the same experience. When we told the hostess we were leaving she didnt seem to really care. A hotel this nice can't even afford enough waiters to make sure people can order food. But I ended but having a second dinner outside because the food and its serving size did not fill my appetite. For food, I had: Dungeness crab cake $16: SALTY Salmon Crudo $16: small serving size and their salmon quality was just OK Crown Landing Cioppino $49: This was my first Cioppino so I did not have high expectations but still did not like it. Very bland in taste. Potato Chips $10+-: my favorite dish of the day. But they literally gave 7 chips. Service: Slow slow slow! But our server was nice and friendly. Ate there last night while we were staying at Lowe's. My sister had the chicken and I had the Salmon with clam chowder before dinner! The salmon was so fishy tasting I couldn't eat it. My sister ended up having food poisoning from her chicken dinner which was very chewy. What a waste of 200 plus dollars and a weekend to have her up all night coming out both ends!! It's a very well run nice hotel restaurant that executes better than average food and service. Although the menu is limited, it checks a lot of boxes and the ingredients are good quality. Since it's a resort, it feels like a nice casual restaurant where casual dress is allowed. The outdoor patio faces the hotel marina. After eating there daily for a week, mostly for breakfast; the staff is well trained and very attentive. Since they closed the far superior Mistral at the Loews Resort, Crown Landing is their option for dinner. I made reservations so we were promptly seated. I opted for the shrimp and grits since I usually love this dish. Their version used a BBQ 'like' sauce that wasn't appealing. I say it was like BBQ sauce because it was far closer to ketchup than BBQ. The dish was also too much drenched with it that you couldn't taste the supposed cheddar grits. The only highlight was our waiter for the evening. In previous years, we did not feel the need to leave the resort for a nice dinner. Crown Landing really left me disappointed. Several meals here and all were exceedingly delicious! At dinner the asparagus starter was perfectly cooked, crisp and savory. The salmon was tender and juicy. The Focaccia with potatoes and blue cheese was mind-blowing! The fish tacos were light and crispy, the breading just perfect. My only complaint was that when they asked us whether we wanted still water or bubbly water they should have indicated that it was not complimentary. Our waitress was sweet and friendly but should have indicated that information somehow. One of the hosts, Dick, was a fascinating man with a great history. If you meet him be sure to ask him about it! I highly recommend this restaurant but just make sure you have enough time for a leisurely meal as it is not a speedy fast food joint. read more

Although the service was slow the food was great. Eating here was one of the few times I cleared my plate instead of taking home left overs. The menu is small with only really 5 items to mix and match but everything was cooked great. I was even able to ask for some hot coco which wasn't on the menu! I've been hearing great things about this place from a few of my co workers, so naturally I had to try it. I made reservations for two and asked to be seated somewhere with a great view, our server Chucky did not disappoint, he seated us at his favorite table with an amazing view! He made us feel as if we had a personal sever, not once did I have to ask for anything. He made sure our drinks were always full and always checked to see if we needed anything else. The bartender Rourke truly has a talent and passion for making unbelievable drinks! He told us an interesting story about how every drink he brought was made and all the local fresh ingredients that went in to them! Something that really set this place apart from the rest, was that the actual chef cooking our food came out to check on us, Chef Zack. I've dined at many fine restaurants, but never have I had the chef come out to personally make sure we we're enjoying all the food and our selves- which we were! All of his dishes were so rich in taste and extremely eye pleasing! One of my favorite dishes was his beet and grapefruit salad, which says a lot since I'm not a huge fan of beets. He also took the time to explain his dishes and his creativity behind them, it truly made our experience very special! Overpriced and extremely low quality food. We booked a table at a prime location and certainly surprised with what was supposed to be a celebratory Mother's Day brunch. The stuff tried to make us happy by replacing burnt waffles and missed menu items but the quality of the food was so low it didn't meet even a plain old diners expectation. Denny's would've been better. The "crab" omelette consisted of bits of bacon and traces of low quality what appeared to be crab wrapped in a soggy mix of couple of eggs. The fingerling potatoes were delicious though. The egg Benedict is served on a piece of toast and slice of sandwich ham... never again! For the average price of $20 for each breakfast plate, this venue deserves 2 stars only due to the location. It's a shame that huge corporations are taking over a beautiful Coronado Bay with their limited and overpriced service. read more

We were greeted by a less than helpful hostess who seemed bothered to assist us when we asked for outdoor seating. She told us there were no available tables due to reservations so we settled for indoor seating. As our meal progressed, we noticed open outdoor tables and asked our hostess again only to be responded with an attitude and rolling of her eyes that they had cancellations. We decided then to make the best and finished our meal at our indoor tabl I would recommend the food and our server was great, friendly and made up for our initial experience. We plan to return to Crown but will be weary if the same hostess is there that we will opt for other dining options in San Diego. So we gave this restaurant a second chance on Valentine's Day and this time we were pleasantly surprised. We met 2 other couples for dinner and we had a completely different experience than our previous. Our server, Marco, was amazing with the service, he was attentive to our needs, knew the menu well and made suggestions for best dishes. We decided to try out their Valentine special menu and were very happy and satisfied with the food selections. The steak's cut was great and I really enjoyed the risotto. Im not much of a red wine drinker but can definitely suggest the 2016 Conundrum wine that turned out to be rich and full bodied. I should have listened to my friend, who ate here for dinner and did not have much good to say about it. But, the breakfast menu looked pretty good so we thought breakfast might be better than dinner. There are a few things that worked in Crown Landing's favor. Our server, Margarita, was on point. She was helpful, friendly, and even pretty funny. She made sure everything was set up perfectly for us. The view was pretty nice. We ate outside and were able to overlook the harbor. Now, the food was not good at all. I ordered the crab cake benedict and it wasn't good at all. The egg was poached perfectly, but the crab mixture was missing a whole lot. I even question if it was real crab meat or imitation. My friend ordered the chilaquiles and they didn't look that great. The potatoes that accompanied my benedict weren't good. Since the hotel is so far from other options this is a good choice if you don't want to leave the resort. read more
