Hannah, the proprietress, was extremely friendly and welcoming, as was our server Logan. Food portions were generous and delicious, perfectly accompanied by a bottle of wine. Lamb shank fell off the bone and was served with fluffy rice, and the jus was nicely, balanced. Attention to detail here marks the difference of someone who takes pride in their work versus someone that is on auto pilot. For example, the celery that accompanied the jus with the lamb shank was crispy and not a mushy mess like I've experienced in other establishments. The half roast chicken was the size of a turkey breast and a fantastic deal. Its skin, a savory treat. My husband and I tried this place and were blown away! This cute cafe is right next to the quiet bay and was so calm and peaceful to enjoy our breakfast. We love Calypso Cafe! They have the best breakfast, sandwiches, and desserts. Our go to sandwiches are the Coronado and the Grilled Tuna Melt. We love the cannolis and other sweet treats too. The owner is so sweet and they really have the best service. It's a great convenience shop/restaurant for the area and the ambiance is so clean and homey. Found this little hidden gem.... our group ordered the breakfast burrito, the sandwich and the pancakes. The sourdough bread on the sandwich was to die for. I have been trying to try this place for about 2 years and finally made it! Always had time to go on a Sunday, but they are closed. Very friendly staff, beautiful view and great food. We went Saturday midmorning and they were making fresh paella, which was filled with many types of seafood and sausages. We could maybe finish half the portion, the rest we took for a late afternoon snack. The breakfast burrito was very good, I wanted it to be a bit bigger. On burrito size, it was on the smaller side, but delicious. The gyros plate was great too, needed a bit more tzatziki, but we could have asked for more. A perfect lunch spot if you work on the strand, a hidden gem. Was brought here by a work friend and was not disappointed! The small owned business was SO friendly and pleasant to interact with. They have daily specials and a good variety of food from sandwiches, salads and pasta. Unfortunately it was raining when we came however there is a nice view of the harbor. And you pay AFTER you eat at the counter, that really makes the atmosphere seem very chill. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, the service provided to our group was so disappointing, not by the employees but I believe she was the owner. I had called few days ahead to make breakfast reservation for party of 5 but I understand it was not guarantee which was fine. When we arrived an hour early to the reservation, 10am instead of 11am, I was trying to be courtesy to let the cashier/owner know that we were early, she was just plain rude. She kept telling us they are busy, IT WAS NOT. My friends were able to find us a table as I placed food order. I ordered enough food for us to share, immediately the cashier/owner wants to charge us $2.50/plastic utensils and $1.50 for a cup of hot water. Ridiculous!! I get it, prices went up on everything but to make us feel like we're different from your other customers. That's plain wrong. I gave a 1 stars for their wonderful employees, location, and food was not bad but to recommend to this restaurant to anyone, I'm not. read more
