This was my first time trying Grindhouse, and unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan. I ordered the sweet cream cold brew because I was really in the mood for something like that, but honestly, it just wasn't for me. Maybe I didn't order the right thing, or maybe it was just an off day, but I probably wouldn't order that drink again. The picture looks promising but just not it. I actually brought one home for my husband to try as well, and without me even saying anything, he wasn't a fan of it either. I also have to say that when I first walked into the location, I didn't really feel a warm or welcoming vibe. I was hoping to have a better first experience, but unfortunately, between the drink and the overall experience, I don't think I'll be back. I believe I have just found my new favorite coffee shop on Third ave. I've been here once before but this was my first time trying the food and holy moly! Lets talk about the vibes first...amazing decor and vibes, decor and walls and atmosphere is very cool and unique I truly love it so much. The staff is very nice, offering suggestions on drinks with big smiles and welcoming energy. Now the drinks and food: the drink I got last time was an iced mocha (no picture but I remember it was very good). This time I went with my mom and we both got the "Moon" drink.. a Chai/Matcha which was such a good drink, I want like a 40oz of it to take with me home for the week. I also ordered the pesto turkey sandwhich to share and I can not express how good this was. Perfectly crispy, juicy and fresh. Took the first bite and literally gasped because not only was the bread toasted to perfection but the veggies and turkey were so flavorful. The veggies and pesto and turkey were also layered in a way that made every bite delectable and that to me is art. Eeeeek! Omg I love this place and you will too after reading my review. I've recently found this place from a studio I go to nearby. It's third ave I mean if you are from San Diego you know it's either neighborhood parking or the meters. Not a big deal though. I am greeted by Karely and her big smile, one of the baristas. It is tiny location but long, they have two gender neutral bathrooms at the end. A few tables to sit down inside and out. A cute bench with the view of third ave traffic. Interior decor is super cute I loved, one of my favs was this board they have which is a basically you pay a coffee forward and you put the sticky there for the next person to get their drink. I totally don't work there so I would just reconfirm what can be redeemed. Drink: I get an iced dirty chai WITH banana cold foam. 10/10 must try. They also offer matcha for you matcha lovers. Grind house has found a new customer and yes, I've already brought so many friends here. My only suggestion would be to maybe have a phone charging station, that's all! :) read more

Perfect matcha! Very balance flavor profile, not too sweet. The barista was very helpful & went to the back to check if a flavor was out of stock and it wasn't! Nice "dive coffee bar" like experience. Tables inside and out. Would be nice to get work done, but music is loud to wouldn't take meetings here. Metered parking out front! I have heard great things about this spot and decided to finally give it a try. I ordered the brown sugar iced latte, but did not taste the syrup at all. Unfortunately, it tasted like a regular latte which I was a bit sad about as they had a lot of syrup options that all looked good. The menu is decently priced and there are a few seats inside, making it a cozy coffee shop. They offer coffee and food on their menu. For parking I recommend parking in the free 2 hour garage near Farmer's Table and take a quick 5 minute walk to the shop if you don't want to pay for street parking. read more

Been here a couple of times and I've always had excellent service. They have delicious iced coffees !!! They do sell food, I've gotten a bagel with cream cheese that was delicious ! I love the location on 3rd I usually grab a bite or coffee after heated yoga. read more

Downtown Chula Vista has a bunch of good spots to check out, especially when it comes to coffee. If I'm in the area, I always stop by GrindHouse for a dose of caffeine. I really like their Cold Brew, so that's my drink of choice. GrindHouse is super chill with a handful of indoor seating and a few tables outside. The staff is always friendly, too. I personally haven't tried their Sandwich menu yet, BUT the shop always smells good. Lol I will eventually! My sister did try their Grilled Cheese and the cheese pulled was immaculate, so that's promising. See ya latte! read more

Service is very slow. I stopped by before heading to a paint class a few doors down. I had 15 min to spare and thought I would make it in time but I didn't. This place surprised me. The coffee was amazing. Very solid spot. The Food is good to. I will say the only thing was the tables were a tad messy. The restroom was clean. Aurora was really nice. She had a good recommendation when I couldn't make up my mind and it ended up being a good choice. Good walking spot where this location is. Good amount of seating for a small place. This place has a stupid policy where if you ask for an espresso shot they can only do a double or quadruple. They refused to do a single shot espresso shot. I asked what's stopping you from just pouring a single shot of espresso? The girl looked at me with a blank look as if I was asking something impossible. A solidified coffee shop in downtown Chula Vista serving up some great drinks and some amazing breakfast. Just the other day I tried the breakfast sandwich that served on their homemade English muffin and I've got to say that the English muffin is very good. The prices are a little steep on the sandwich in my opinion, but it is satisfying, therefore I would order it again. The coffee is nice and strong and they also have other non-coffee options. The store is pretty small, but they have bar seating towards the back and a few tables towards the front. Service every time I've gone is good with no complaints. I tried their Moon Drink (matcha + chai latte) recently since I really like both of those teas. The chai flavor was a bit stronger than the matcha in this drink, but I could taste both. It was ran by one girl and the service was mid and could be better. There was only a couple of people when I went, so the ambience was pretty chill. I ordered the breakfast bacon sando and an iced peanut butter cup latte with oat milk. These were two very good choices and complimented each other. The sandwich was thick and bacon quality was smoky and thick. The latte was chocolatey at times, so I just wish there was a pure peanut butter latte. read more

I was looking for a matcha drink and I saw they had a banana cream matcha latte. I saw a few other reviews talking about this drink and decided to give it a try. It was really busy around 11 on a Saturday. The place is a little small and it was hard to find seating. The girl working the register was pretty friendly. As for the drink it was around $8 with oat milk. I can say this has been one of the best matcha drinks I have had. My only regret was not getting a bigger size. Stumbled upon GrindHouse while visiting the San Diego area a few weeks ago and had a great first visit. The place is a vibe from the standout storefront to the cool interior. Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately greeted by the staff. The cashier was super friendly and very patient with all of my questions as a first-time customer. I was a little bummed at first because my husband and I were looking for some breakfast and many of the items we wanted to order on their menu were "sold out" even though we were there first thing in the morning. Although we would have loved to try out some of those missed-opportunity items, the items we did ended up ordering were fantastic. Our order consisted of a - Bacon Cheddar Breakfast Sando - Deluxe Grilled Cheese - Banana Cream Matcha There was a little bit of a wait for the kitchen items, but I think there may have only been one person preparing all of the kitchen items at the time we came in. Honestly, it didn't matter because it was worth the wait. My husband had the Bacon Cheddar Breakfast Sando and, though it sounds basic, the sauce really elevated the sandwich. The Deluxe Grilled Cheese had bacon and crispy onion in it which, again, could have been very basic at its core, but totally elevated the sandwich overall. The Banana Cream Matcha was delicious. Crafted perfectly with a strong matcha flavor and excellent balance of banana creaminess. Our first experience at the GrindHouse was memorable. We would definitely return the next time we're back in the area. It's an obvious local favorite since by the time we were ready to leave, the line to order was almost out the door. The guy taking orders kindly tried to explain that they don't do that but they would do it this time, which I was grateful and said thank you.
