It's been a minute since I visited this cafe. I'm very pleased that everything is still the same here. Lots of parking spaces, close proximity to the bus and trolley station - literally steps away. The gentlemen working the counters sincerely mean it when they greet every customer with a "hello. welcome in!", and a smile. They have lots of bagel sandwiches and coffee options. They always ask if you would like to add a banana or apple with your meal, which I feel is a great suggestion for those that don't get enough good, clean nutrition. The seating areas are comfortable and the place is thoughtfully decorated with foliage and messages of faith. The food is made to order, and the bagel sandwich was a nice size. I was full after eating half. My coffee was half sweet and full of flavor. Thank you for the experience today, I will try to visit more often. read more

Pretty good bagel sandwich, I like how it has sauce and veggies inside. And the egg patty is pretty thick. Wish there was more cream cheese on the regular bagel, it wasn't much. Strawberry Banana Shake was good but a little on the watery side. Overall it's a good option to pick up food around the area and take it to go. read more

Faith. Coffee and community! What a beautiful thing! I came after finishing at the SD Rescue Mission, and the lady I volunteered with mentioned her granddaughter and herself went to visit a faith-based coffee shop this AM. Jesus and Coffee are my two favorite things! She told me to go all the way down E by the trolley station and I wouldn't miss it. It was easy to find and right by the station. Plenty of parking.. I got inside. It was a little after lunch.. it was nice and quiet inside. The ambience was friendly, warm and I described each seating area as tiny little living rooms! Bible verses all over, some merchandise to purchase. I enjoyed my short time here. I ordered a raspberry white bliss with oatmilk and it was one of the best coffee I've ever had! After a long walk along the bay I was in search of a nearby caffeine fix. I had never heard of this coffee shop but decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised! I had the iced banana hazelnut dream latte. I adjusted it with half and half milk which made it even more creamy and decadent. I also recommend their bagels; I had the jalapeño and cheese. Different from your normal bagels these are made out of sourdough and I'm a huge fan of sourdough. This dough gave it a different spin for a softer version of a bagel which I enjoyed. The menu offers a great variety, including bagels, pastries, lattes, and coffee. I ordered the vanilla iced latte with breve and sour dough cinnamon coffee cake. Delicious, soft, flavorful bread. There's also plenty of indoor seating, which is a big plus. They also sell products from small businesses... I love it!! What a sweet little spot adjacent to the E Street trolley station. I came in during a super hectic morning and was greeted with a calm space. The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and quickly worked on my order. The coffee shop was spacious, with several long tables and a large couch that clearly has been lots of love available for relaxing on while you enjoy your drink. Their iced dirty chai is super yummy! I had a pretty bad experience. I went inside and there was no menu. The guy told me, yeah the TV isn't working then just stared at me. I asked him if he could tell me what was on the menu and he said coffee. I asked if he could make an iced vanilla latte and he told me he could make a hot mocha. I ended up getting a hot vanilla latte. The register wasn't working and he ran my card multiple times. He had to walk the person making drinks through how to make it. He was going to add vanilla syrup plus a large scoop of powder vanilla, I told him no and he looked at me like I was crazy. Afterwards he said I had to leave because they were now closed (it was 2 PM exactly and the sign said they close at 3 PM). read more

This cute, clean coffee shop I went two days in a row. I had the #1 breakfast sammy on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. The option for the sides are an apple, banana or chips. I opted for the apple both days. The iced americano w/ light cream was delicious and fresh. Happily writing this review of a small local coffee shop as I have 100% stopped corporate/big box coffee shops: Starbucks, Coffee Bean, McDonalds, Peets, Dunkin, etc. Firstly, the ambiance is serene and welcoming. I admittedly on this venture of finding local coffee shops am a bit shy, particularly if I am alone, to go in, chat, and look around. I have gotten better at expanding my skills on this. The décor reminds me of part homestyle part my grandmother's place. I found an old record player here which reminded me of my grandmother's, which she played a lot of Englebert Humperdinck, loudly! Fond memories. In Cool Down Coffee, there is subtle guitar music which is just the right level for quiet conversation and sets the tone for a cool quiet place to sit alone or with loved ones. It is clean, well laid out, and if you sit away from the entrance door in the opposite corner the air conditioning is sublime. Secondly, I had a caramel latte and a blueberry bagel, both yummy. The bagel was prepared for me with the cream cheese already spread, this gave me the feeling of someone who cared had prepared my bagel for me - not just slopped it together and shoved it in a to go bag or was annoyed to serve me... which brings me to... Thirdly, customer service, the grown man and young man team, quiet and unassuming were attentive to detail. The grown man, I am guessing was the owner (I did not ask - will work on this for future visiting). Was cordial, he read back my order for clarification, explained the coffee would be a minute or two. Had a warm energy and smile and got busy once I paid and left him a cash tip. I really do think small businesses deserve the cash rather than the credit card fees. Today I did not have enough cash to cover the order yet enough for a cash tip. I can imagine the fees small businesses pay for credit processing, the only true winners - the bank. Overall - I encourage you to go. I sat alone and enjoyed my coffee and bagel. I day dreamed a bit and kept off my phone. It was delightful the whole experience. :) read more

I ordered this morning via Grubhub. I ordered the Destroyer sandwich, the Ironman sandwich, an Iced Chai Latte and a House Blend Coffee. Everything seemed stupid expensive but I am sure that is just the mark up for Grubhub. The sandwiches were really good, so huge that it was hard to take a bite without having to deconstruct the sandwich. The chips were tasty. Only been here once, but you can tell the owner ( he was the one serving us) knows audience. The chairs are facing the window, so you can look out at the trolly and people watch if you'd like.
