This place is super cute. Great coffee and friendly workers. I came here a few times and it's always a vibe.

Drink: salted maple latte w oat (7/10) - sweet and salty. majority of it was sweet but salty gives nice twist. kind of toasty but not too toasty. espresso is really smooth. oat milk added it gives it a bit more flavor too. Service: Straightforward and simple experience ordering at the counter Ambiance: Big space with lots of tables but many are filled and many people come to do work! Very bright with all the big windows. It's also so cutely decorated!

I tried the iced banana matcha with oatmilk and a regular iced matcha with whole milk. I enjoyed the matcha flavor here. The banana flavor does taste artificial like banana taffy but hey it still tasted good. The banana matcha was $8 with an additional .50 for milk upcharge so it was kind of steep for a cup of matcha. The regular matcha was a little bland and didn't taste any sweetness at all. The coffee shop was spacious and beautiful. The guy taking my order looked like he had something better to do. Parking is an inconvenience if you have to circle the block to look for a space or walk a block to get there. Definitely not a place I can get a quick beverage on the run.

This is for the actual building location, not the one with the blue building. This location is cute, I can see people come here to study. I got the iced salted maple vanilla bourbon drink and it wasn't bad. It does taste a bit bitter but I honestly only taste the vanilla portion. I think it's just a cute place, I didn't try their pastries because they all looked a bit dry in the display case. They do have a lot of merch on sale, but a bit pricey. Probably wouldn't really come again unfortunately.

Iced Matcha & Oatmeal Cookie

This is a very nice place to come for espresso based beverages, tea based beverages, and baked goods and eats. I had the iced matcha latte with oat milk. It was delicious indeed and came with ceremonial grade matcha. I had them add a touch of honey and the matcha and honey flavors came out great. I had a large oatmeal cookie with it. The cookie was tasty and chewy. The acoustic are loud in this place. Voices bounce of the floor and and window covered building. However, it is a very nice trendy looking place with comfortable seating. The service at the counter was very nice. All the workers appeared in high spirits and good moods. Parking is limited in the area.

I'd been wanting to try this spot ever since a friend made their drinks look so cute online! First impression, the place is gorgeous. Super spacious with lots of seating and an overall picture worthy vibe. Parking can be a little tricky, though. If you're on a time crunch, definitely allow extra time to find a spot. I liked that they're open till 6pm; later hours would definitely be a dream for night owls. I ordered an iced coffee with cold foam and added a shot. It was okay, but I couldn't really taste much flavor - it definitely needed that shot. Even with the add shot, it was just okay - not exactly love at first sip. My cup didn't have their logo sticker either, so it just looked plain, which was kind of a bummer since I wanted that Instagram moment. My friend liked her drink and rated hers an 8/10 - hers was on the sweeter side. I'd give my drink around a 6.5/10. If you're into sweeter drinks, this place might be more your vibe. We both ordered the Salted Maple Iced w/ oat milk. Price-wise, my drink was $10, which felt a bit pricey for what I got. I think I could find something better for the price elsewhere. Service was fine! They shared their most popular drinks, but when I asked about the specialty cold foam art I always see online, I didn't get a direct answer. I'm still curious to try the cold brew, a hot coffee or a seasonal drink next time. I went on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy when I arrived, but it got pretty crowded as I was leaving. My order also took a bit longer than expected, but the overall atmosphere was still cool. Overall, it's a cute spot with some hits and misses. I'm curious to try more, but not sure I'd make it my regular.

The closest you'll get to little Italy, north park, downtown coffee shops on the area Nice open air space in the middle of the new millenia housing development in otay ranch Drinks 4/5: The vanilla bourbon and maple lattes are both solid 4/5. Think they only have one size of drink which was pretty large. A good and strong latte Ambiance Solid open air hipster aesthetic place

Casa toast

I ordered two casa toasts, and they were completely soaked in oil. Just holding them caused oil to drip everywhere, and when I took a bite, it ran down my chin. They were extremely soggy and not enjoyable.

I had been a few times to there small stand they had between our homes and have always liked there Specialty Coffees. When they opened this big location I was happy only walking distance from my home. Here I tried their Cortado and it was good. They have milk alternatives. Place is big and nicely decorated. Great place to hangout, work. The ambiance is very inviting. They are few of the coffee shops that open until 6pm, great for that afternoon coffee.

I was in the Otay Mesa area and had seen this cute little coffee shop on IG and wanted to try it. The shop is decorated very cute. Lots of little trinkets to purchase. I sat inside for a while but the music was SO LOUD. I decided to sit outside to enjoy my coffee. . There were 3 of us and we couldn't hear each other talk inside. I really wanted a lavender latte but they didn't have it so I got a mocha ice coffee. The drink was good. If you haven't tried this coffee shop I would recommend stopping by. There looked like a lot of neighborhood peeps that visit on the regular.

We love Casa de Otay! I love their iced cafe de olla latte !!! It's soooooo good and delicious and highly recommend . I love the space it's big and open with extra seating outside .I love the aesthetic! It does get a little loud inside but overall it's one of the best coffee shops in otay ranch! Highly recommend ! Only thing is parking can be challenging .

I am so happy that Casa de Otay has a shop now! I would go to the their original shipping container location, but being able to sit down and have some food options is lovely. I love that Chula Vista is coming up with some aesthetic coffee shops. It could be the cute, open, high ceiling spot, tasty empanadas and avocado toast, or even all the visually appealing merch, but I do like this location better. As I mentioned, their avocado toast and empanadas are good! That is all the food I have tried, but the pastries look healthy and delicious too. Their birria empanada is my favorite, and it comes with a chipotle type of sauce for dipping, which is perfect! I've had the chicken one also, which is flavorful too. My sister and I always order these items, along with an iced matcha latte. I like the matcha here! And pro tip: if you get cold foam on top, they do latte art, which is adorable.

The new storefront is so lovely. *Parking; free street parking. Most likely busy on weekends, plan accordingly. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and had a rough time finding a spot. *Coffee/food: delightful!! Love how there is a food menu at this location. I ordered an oatmeal cookie and dirty chai (off menu). Not the biggest fan of my drink, because of how earthy it was. But I've had their iced vanilla bourbon before and it's soo good. The cookie was chewy and delicious, also huge. The baristas are quick. My drink was ready in 2 minutes. *Ambiance: so much space for activities!! lol. There is a ton of space inside. Lots of people working/studying. Love the high ceilings, minimal yet cozy feel to the entire place. *Other notes: there's a tiny toy area for toddlers. Mine loved it! We both enjoyed our time here. There's also merch available to purchase and little trinkets. Bathrooms are available as well.

The staff was genuinely friendly, and we were able to find a seat inside without too much trouble. We expected a bit of a wait given how busy it was, but the timing ended up being a bit off. Our food arrived first--we had the avocado toast and the mini green chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious, though the chilaquiles verdes leaned a little heavy on the garlic. (Seriously--hours later, even after brushing, lunch, and multiple rounds of mouthwash, that garlic flavor was still going strong.) We took our time eating, hoping the drinks would arrive, but they didn't come out until much later. We ordered a cappuccino and an iced churro latte. The cappuccino finally came out right as we finished eating--it tasted good, just a bit lukewarm. About five minutes later, the iced churro latte was ready, so we ended up taking it to go. That one was actually really good. Overall, the food and drinks were solid, and the staff made a great impression. I'd definitely like to come back and give it another shot. I love supporting small, locally owned businesses, and with a little adjustment to the flow--like pausing mobile orders during peak times or dedicating a team specifically to them--this place could really elevate the experience.

My husband and I both love ube, and Cafe 86 is known for its variety of ube desserts. It was fairly quiet when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Since we had already eaten lunch, we decided to stop by for dessert. The inside was pretty nice -- I especially liked the lighting, which gave the place an industrial vibe. There were couches and tables for seating, making it feel comfortable overall. We were greeted by a younger employee who could've been a bit more energetic and welcoming. The dessert case also looked a little sparse and underwhelming. My husband ordered the Ube Monster shake, and I got the ube cheesecake. The shake was pretty good, though not as creamy as I expected, and I wished the ube flavor was stronger. The ube cheesecake, on the other hand, was fluffy and not overly sweet, which I really liked. It also had a thick cookie crust that was delicious. Still, I would've loved a more pronounced ube flavor in that as well. I'm a huge ube fan, and when I make ube desserts at home, I usually add extra flavoring to really make it stand out. Overall, I'd come back again. Next time, I definitely want to try the flan!

Overall, it tasted okay, but I wished that you were able to customize it somehow (i.e add jellies, change slush flavor, etc). Maybe I could have asked but what made it challenging was that the menu did not clearly show everything they had to offer or it was hard to decipher which price went with what item. The cooler was pretty good and it was part of their $3 drink specials. Keep in mind though, it was not advertised, I just happened to know because I almost did an online order and saw it. I plan to go back and try some more things but there really needs to be more transparency about the menu and the prices clearly displayed.

We parked and noticed nearly all the lights were off. The pastry cabinet was empty, the tables were taped off. But people were inside and customers were in line. Emotions and energy were low, it was quiet and dim vibes all around. We walk in and see just one man working the cashier and making the drinks. He looked puzzled, a bit lost. We get in line behind someone ordering 4+ drinks and see that this guy didn't really know how to make the drinks. He was misplacing the ingredients and wasn't fully confident operating the payment system. The back counter was cluttered with miscellaneous gadgets, appliances, and syrups. It took nearly 20 minutes for the customer in front of us to get from ordering to receiving their drinks and we just watched in slight awe. The guy was apologetic and upfront, he was trying his best in a bad situation. They made some small talk and hinted that they were closing due to supply chain disruptions in Hawaii. I feel for them and wish them well. The coffee itself was ok. Flavor was decent but somewhat unremarkable. They offer different caffeine levels, up to I think 400mg in a drink. I just got the 200mg coffee. Don't know if I just built a tolerance but I fell asleep right after. We did want a pastry but with the baked goods cabinet empty, we weren't sure what they had left to offer. There was a long sign listing everything sold out between the pastries and coffee flavors. Overall the experience was odd and left a slightly bitter emotional taste in my mouth. They've acknowledged that they weren't in the best condition at that point and I do feel unfair to judge them at their worst. If they turn it around, I'm opening to revisiting. But for now, I don't feel compelled to go out of my way for it.
