We've visited Crown and Crumpet about three times, and each visit has been such a lovely experience. My teen daughter and I always looked forward to driving out to Ross -- it felt like a beautiful escape from the city. The back patio is peaceful, the neighborhood is charming, and it was such a special place for our mother-daughter tea time. Both the Ross and San Francisco Crown and Crumpet locations were open at the same time, and when the San Francisco shop closed a while ago, I was so grateful Ross was still there. I'm very sad to hear that this location will also be closing its doors, though it's nice to know they'll continue through catering and private events. It just won't be the same not having this unique and special place for us to visit in person.

Love this adorable tea place. My daughter and I have been to their original tea shop many moons ago located at Ghirardelli Square. Subsequently, they moved to Japantown, had another huge following. They have opened up shop in the town of Ross; I don't want them to ever close. It's literally in our own backyard. Dynamic duo owners Amy and Chris has a true passion for high tea. They offer etiquette classes, holiday-themed teas, savory and sweet bites all made with love. They survived the pandemic. They offer stellar catering and collaborate with other businesses and hotels to offer their divine tea service. My mom loves the crumpets and freshly made jams. It's fitting for any occasion(s). 'Til we meet again - cheers and see you on YELP (SYOY)!

Dropped by for 2 scones and tea. Very tasty. Service was friendly and efficient. The place is super adorable. I definitely want to come back for a birthday tea party.

Came here for a birthday celebration and it was quite fun! I appreciate the menu offers choices of food items instead of just high tea. Not everyone has to order high tea. The high tea has good savory selections which fit me better. I don't like too much sweets in high tea and this place offers a good balance of savory and sweet. Service is great. The setting feels like more for kids but I enjoy the food either way!

Super cute and whimsical place to enjoy a birthday meal and tea with my family. Our server Chris was attentive and so gracious. We especially loved hearing him talk (British perhaps?!). We ordered the Afternoon Tea for 2 people while hubby opted for their Chicken Pot Pie with salad and a sparkling water. If you aren't into the finger sandwiches and would like something hearty definitely get the Chicken Pot Pie! For my own pot of hot tea (part of the Afternoon Tea option) I decided on their 'Swamp Water' tea. I don't like the name, but the fruity tea was delicious which was pineapple, mango, & passionfruit loose tea. My favorites from the tower of treats we got were the turkey cranberry finger sandwiches, cucumber open-faced sandwiches, the scones, and the chocolate covered strawberries. I loved all the cute decor and details of this place. Perfect place to leisurely spend some time at and enjoy. I'd love to come back again.

Instead, you simply place your order either online, or through the self-service kiosk located out front. There is a window next to the kiosk where they'll place your drink when ready. Ordered a Mango Supreme with Boba and really enjoyed the fresh mango taste, along with the nice and chewy boba. There's not a lot of boba options in San Rafael. But I'm glad Oddcha is one of them. Unbeknownst to me at the time, parking is available in a lot under the freeway on 4th street, behind Oddcha. I instead found street parking 3 blocks away and simply walked over.

We ordered the Coconut Bomb and the Thai Twister, and both drinks were excellent. They weren't overly sweet and had a really refreshing flavor. The boba also tasted fresh, which made the drinks even better. Ordering was easy using their kiosk system. One thing to note is that parking is located behind the shop. It was a bit confusing at first since the store is on a very busy road, but once you find the back parking area, it's much more convenient. Overall, a great stop for refreshing drinks--I'd definitely come back!

This spot popped up pretty high, and funnily enough, my boyfriend--who doesn't live locally--had actually heard of it from a previous visit, so we decided to go for it. Right off the bat: huge win on logistics. There's a nearby parking garage with ample space, and parking is free on Sundays and holidays, which already put us in a good mood. The place was packed when we went (Sunday), but in the best way. It's honestly adorable--there's a small playground, multiple seating areas, and everything feels very thoughtfully put together. I don't usually gush over ambiance, but the furniture, layout, and overall warmth of the space really stood out. Cozy without being cramped, lively without being chaotic. There were three people working, one of them quite young, and while we didn't order food, I did get a matcha--and wow. It took a while to come out, but when I saw how they were preparing it, it all made sense. Unlike most high-volume spots that rush matcha, they actually take their time with the full process. The result? Easily top 10 matchas I've ever had. Fresh, clean, energizing in a way that felt genuinely good for my body--not jittery, just right. They do have pastries and a couple of food options, though the savory options didn't really tempt me personally. That said, I'd 100% come back just for the drinks and the space alone. There's just enough white noise to sit and work comfortably, and the ambiance makes you want to stay awhile. This is officially going into my coffee + work rotation.

2.5 STARS kuma cafe…read moreis a small cafe serving quick bites and boba, conveniently located in downtown san rafael. even though it's in downtown san rafael, i've never had trouble finding street parking nearby. since you order on a tablet, there's not usually anyone behind the counter until the food comes out. it seems like there's only one person working, so it can sometimes take a bit for things to come out. i usually order online for a quicker pickup, although it's slightly more expensive. there are a few tables inside, but it's really a to-go place. - egg sandwich w/ salad (2.5/5): i love japanese egg sandwiches, so i really wanted to try this! the sandwich had a good kewpie mayo flavor, and it was slightly sweet. i enjoyed the flavor, but the sandwich was too wet and messy to eat. some of the mayo was dripping out of the sides. there were also small bits of tobiko and cabbage. it wasn't a big sandwich for the price, but it did come with a salad that was topped with a good sweet and creamy dressing - spicy tuna sandwich w/ chips (1/5): literally like canned tuna with some spicy seasoning, although it wasn't super spicy. it also had some thick slices of cucumber and red onion. the chips were kind of stale, and they tasted like they were supposed to be ruffles or lays salted chips. this was pretty disappointing, and i'm not sure why it cost that much - poke (2.5/5): pretty standard, and an okay portion for price. they offered all of the basic ingredients and different kinds of fish. my bowl didn't have a lot of fish in it, but they did give me a lot of tamago (sweet egg), which made up for the lack of protein. i ordered the soy house sauce, but it reminded me more of a bright ponzu. honestly, the ingredients didn't really taste the freshest, but i thought it was fine and the best food i tried here - jasmine rose milk tea (1.5/5): strong rose flavor! it was still pretty sweet at 50% sugar, and it got overwhelmingly sweet by the end. i usually finish drinks, even if i don't like them, but it was hard to finish - sando brown sugar milk tea (4/5): my favorite milky drink i tried! it had a pretty good black tea and chocolate malt flavor. i really liked the crunchy texture of the malt topping, although i think it could've used a little less malt and more drink. i thought this was very unique! - lychee dragon fruit (4/5): like a light lemonade! i didn't really taste the lychee. the dragon fruit flavor was subtle, but it was definitely there, especially at the end with all the dragon fruit bits. it came with lychee jelly, which made the drink pretty sweet - fizzy yuzu (4/5): literally a yuzu soda, which was tart and citrusy. it was a little too sour for me at first, but the yuzu flavor was great. i actually really liked the kiwi popping boba, which added some sweetness to the drink and curbed the tartness. the kiwi popping boba did taste like kiwi, and it was so unique! - momo peach iced matcha [seasonal] (1/5): the worst drink i tried... there was so much peach jam that it tasted super sweet, and the jam didn't even have a strong peach flavor. the amount of jam also made the drink extremely goopy, even after mixing, and i couldn't taste the matcha at all. i didn't finish this drink the boba here was inconsistent - sometimes it was soft and chewy, and other times, it was on the hard end. for the drinks that came with a topping, they didn't let me sub out the topping with something else. i would've had to pay for an additional topping in order to change it. overall, i'm not really a big fan of kuma cafe, but there aren't that many options in san rafael. compared to oddcha, i think kuma cafe offers more unique asian flavors, like dragon fruit or yuzu. when i'm working near downtown, i'll still stop by to get my boba fix but will head somewhere else for lunch.

The lady working there (an older woman) was just the sweetest. She greeted us with a big smile, welcomed us in, and even thanked us for stopping by. It really made the visit feel extra personal. We tried a few drinks: the Mango Fresh Milk with boba was light, refreshing, and not overly sweet which is perfect for a hot day. The Iced Matcha with boba was smooth and flavorful; I loved that it actually tasted like real matcha. I did ask for less ice, which oddly came with an extra 85 cent charge, but honestly, it was still worth it. My daughter got the Kuma Blue Cloud Raspberry, which was creamy, fun looking, and caffeine free! It's definitely a nice spot to grab a good drink and relax for a bit. The only downside is that they don't have a public restroom, which was a little inconvenient. Still, we'll definitely be back for more drinks and that friendly service!
