Really lovely outdoor patio and friendly staff. Note that on weekend lunch, you can only order off their brunch menu or their vegan menu (which is quite delightful). The food is flavorful and we really liked the Platano Macho as well as their signatue Mexican Iced Coffee that comes with tequila. I did find the main entrees to be expensive given the food portions, but overall, satisfied with the quality. We celebrated a birthday here and overall it's pretty solid for Marin mall food. The service, however, was disappointing--our server seemed constantly busy and like she could have used more support, which made the experience feel a bit off. We also had an issue with timing--our entrées didn't come out together, even though it was still early and not very busy, which was frustrating for a group meal. I ordered a hazy IPA, which came in a can with a glass of ice and a lime--an unusual presentation. Drinks were good but it was interesting that they don't have beer on tap especially since they have a large bar! Food-wise, we ordered the ceviche along with salsa and chips, and both were really tasty. The tacos are especially yummy and definitely a highlight. They have mole and solid enchiladas. One mistake I always make, is forgetting about Flores. Throughout the years I randomly pop in, the service is friendly and quick, flavor is consistent and authentic, and the fun times are had. Great esthetically pleasing decor-upscale Mexican. Need to know: HH 3-close Monday AND Tuesday, then 3-6 Wed-Friday (at bar or lounge area which there is plenty of space). While it's only an available in the bar area, that includes the bar, some high-tops and low-tops as well. The latter being super comfortable seating. I am always impressed with the vegan and vegetarian dishes here! Tonight we had the vegan 3 Tacos Plate (beyond sausage-potato, mushroom and nopales al pastor, avocado and slaw) and the Enchiladas Vegetarianas (mushrooms al pastor and nopales). In the past, we have also loved the Ceviche de Hongos (king oyster mushrooms, avocado, cherry tomato, burnt tomato agua de chile, crispy corn) and Chile Relleno (poblano pepper stuffed with queso oaxaca, mushrooms & kale, topped with spicy salsa ranchera, avocado, crema, rice). My friend can't hear out of one ear so we just moved to a the empty lounge area for a bit. I don't know why the bus boy/ food runner even had to comment. It was very strange that he even came over. I suggested Flores for a work lunch today. The burrito was tasty and I think everyone enjoyed their lunch but I was disappointed with presentation. The burrito's arrived double wrapped in foil as if they were to go. That seemed a little odd and not appropriate for a sit down lunch. I also looked forward to a basket of chips and their delicious red salsa, which was not offered. They did have the little wagon wheels on the table and brought extra salsa upon request. The service was a bit reserved, not as outgoing as I recall. Updating my original review as we had a most redeeming and amazing dining experience at Flores! My husband and I had dinner here last night, and it was the dining experience we needed. We ordered off of their Vegano Menu, which has some seriously impressive culinary delights! Everything was superb. The service was fast and impeccable. The ambiance was great. The quality and taste of the food were beyond drool worthy. The drinks were beautiful, and just strong enough. Big thanks to the manager Jordan, for his warm and personable attention. Excellent locally owned and operated restaurant with fantastic hospitality and delicious food. I love the ambiance as it's great for both a casual date and equally family friendly. On my most recent visit, one of the owners made the rounds to check in with patrons to say hello and ensure everyone was enjoying their experience. On this most recent trip, my party stopped in and had a delicious brunch. We sat inside however I have to note the restaurant has a lovely patio and I'm impressed with the way in which they've created a secluded little oasis. Even on a January day, the patio was packed during the lunch hour with people enjoying their meal al fresco. The restaurant offers a nice variety of cocktails specializing in some lovely tequilas. So if you prefer stopping in for a drink, they have a great bar area as well. We had 2 of the tequila cocktails and both were fantastic. I look forward to visiting again. read more

Best plantains ever! This was our fourth visit to Flores and we were sad we never ordered their plaintains until now. They were perfectly carmelized and delicious. We also ordered the parrillas mixta for 2 which was a generous portion for 2. Everything was cooked well, but the steak was a little gamey and perhaps not very fresh. I was pleasantly surprised to discover Flores in Marin, having first experienced it at their Union Street location in San Francisco. The Marin space mirrors the city location in both design and atmosphere, and the food quality is just as consistent. The carnitas dish is usually my go-to, and I order it often because I love it. This time, though, I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried the chile relleno. It's prepared quite differently from what you'd find at a traditional Mexican restaurant, but I really enjoyed their lighter take on it. Flores in Corte Madera was a last minute choice. The food is vibrant, fresh, and full of authentic flavor, and every dish feels thoughtfully prepared. It could easily become one of my favorite spots in Marin for Mexican cuisine. The Chicken Tinga taco was amazing -- tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. The Pescado taco was another standout. The fish was cooked perfectly -- flaky, fresh, and lightly crisp on the outside. Combined with the bright citrus and fresh slaw, every bite felt refreshing and satisfying. It's the perfect balance of texture and flavor. The Vegetariano taco surprised me in the best way. I can't wait until I go back to try more items on the happy hour list. I think for me and my husband it came out to about $40 which is rare nowadays to find sit-down dinner bills for $20ea. I'd been once before - pre-pandemic, around the time they opened to rave reviews - and thought it was pretty good Mexican-like cuisine for Marin County. So this was a disappointing return, notably because Mexican food should generally be friendly to gluten-free diets and this was anything but (almost everything is in the same fryer, meaning our options were limited. Another disappointment was the parrilla mixta - it came with only four tortillas, definitely not enough for a dish meant to be shared by two people. Service was incredibly slow - we waited nearly 35 minutes for food. It's not a staff issue, but a staffing issue. I get that restaurants are hard to run, but when you're this busy, a bit more staffing might help. Would I go back? Probably not. But it's not terrible, it just isn't for me. read more

We came in around 3pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't busy at all which made the experience even more disappointing. It took a long time just to place our order, and then another long wait to get the check. No one checked on us the entire time. We had to ask multiple times (at least three) for things, and each time we were either forgotten or ignored. We also specifically asked for no cheese, and still got cheese on two separate items. We're not the type to make a big deal out of things, but this was frustrating from start to finish. On top of that, we were forced to tip, which honestly didn't make sense given the level of service. Flores is in the Corte Madera Town Center, but the vibe takes you to Cabo San Lucas. As you enter, there's the hip and long bar. The outdoor patio is sunny and vibrant. On the day of our visit, it was a bit windy so we chose to sit indoor in their charming main dining room. Skylights brighten the room. A row of elevated potted plants serves as the room divider and makes the room feels alive. As we sat down, soft Latin vocals were playing, and a server was humming the tune. We just love the chill vibe here. We ordered the carnitas bowl, one carnitas taco, and pancake de elote in small portion for dessert. I didn't see chile rellenos on the menu, but I asked anyways. Our server said that it is usually served as a dinner dish but I could order the lunch version. For drinks we had a refreshing passion fruit aqua fresca. The carnitas bowl and carnitas tacos came to our table pretty quick. The carnitas bowl was a larger portion than we expected. There was a couple of huge chunks of fried carnitas, with rice, beans, avocado and salad. The carnitas taco was hefty as well. A short time later, our later came back and apologized and said that the chille rellenos was not available after all as it will take half hour to make. I was a bit disappointed but as we have a lot of food, it was not a big deal. As I ate I overheard the staff talking about chile rellenos near the kitchen, and not long after, the server came back and announced that the chile rellenos was available if I wanted it, but only in the vegan version. That was perfectly fine with me as I am used to vegan chile rellenos. Turned out it was worth the wait, as the chile relleno was awesome. It was stuffed with minced bits of delicious mushrooms, and the chile was soaking in a generous bed of red/orange sauce. I ate it all up, but we had to ask for a to-go box for the carnitas bowl due to the huge portion. Good thing we saved room for the pancake de elote. We ordered the small portion, but we wished we had ordered the large portion, as it was so good that we did not save any for our kids! haha We love Flores for their refined Mexican cuisine in a beautiful setting. read more

Today, we came in expecting a pleasant dinner, great drinks, and good conversation. While the food and atmosphere mostly lived up to that expectation, the service unfortunately did not. Our server, Alejandra M., did not provide attentive service. She failed to check in on us after we received our meals, didn't ask if we needed anything else or if we'd like to order another round of drinks. Meanwhile, we noticed her being very attentive to other tables around us, which left us feeling uncomfortable, forgotten, and honestly a bit upset. As a result, we decided to skip dessert. When it came time to pay, Alejandra quickly processed the bill and walked away without offering a receipt or even a closing word. This lack of courtesy played into the tip we felt was appropriate to leave. On a more positive note, the food was great. The fish dish was flavorful, and the quesadilla with salsa was delicious. Flautas de chorizo con papa lacked flavor but presentation was nice. The cocktails were a bit sweet for our taste but still enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely--with beautiful wall art and lighting that really sets a nice tone. However, our table was quite sticky--not from lack of cleanliness but likely due to worn wood polish. Also, the chair I sat in was very wobbly, which added to the discomfort. My husband and I have been coming to Flores around 3pm on weekdays. Although the happy hour at the bar opens at this time, we are older folks and we prefer to sit in one of the restaurant booths, order from the dinner menu and enjoy the quiet dining room at this hour, spacious and beautifully decorated with colorful murals and potted plants. If I could give zero stars I would. If you are considering having Mexican/Central American cuisine go literally anywhere else! I went this last Saturday , November 22 after looking around on yelp etc for a restaurant that looked ok. Everything was bad, totally slow disorganized service , with drinks and apps ordered and no revisit from the server for 20 minutes. It was not busy and according to the manager they are not understaffed. We ordered the chicken molè and the carnitas. After waiting another 20 minutes our food came out , the molè sauce was cold and the chicken was served " on the bone " which I have never once seen in any Mexican cooking . The carnitas should have been called " carnitas seca " because it was dry to the point where parts of it whee crispy , like they threw it in a very hot oven to hear it up quickly . We had dinner at 7 pm so it was not near closing. Then we were ignored again for about 25 minutes. Finally our server came by and co up d not tell us what we ordered even though they have electronic devices to enter that into . Single worst dining experience in Marin County. STAY AWAY!!! Went there today, first time. First of all, the ambience is superb, it is beautifully decorated, and landscaped. Beautiful plants everywhere. The inside bar is beautiful with all the bottles. We ate outside and in a wonderful atmosphere with all kinds of beautiful plants. And everybody was so friendly from the hostess to everyone else who took our order and brought us our food. I don't think I've ever been anywhere that made us feel this welcome. I ordered a salad with chicken, and the portion was very generous, and the chicken was really good. It was properly grilled. And seasoned. My son had a children's burrito and I have to say without exaggeration this is the best burrito I've ever seen in a children's menu. And it was delicious.
