Go on wing night. Hot garlic are the best sauce. Ziggy are pretty good too. There is one super rude waitress so watch out.

But it was lunchtime and it was hard not to notice the steady stream of locals, mostly in work clothes and driving pickups. I ordered an Italian sub because the owner and the signs said it was one of their top offerings. And it is the real deal, an Italian Sub worthy of Jersey. Very fresh soft roll with fresh cold cuts, lettuce and tomato and a healthy squirt of oil, vinegar, and herbs that makes this a messy (in a good way) sandwich. My only criticism is that the meat is almost al ham with a little salami and, I think, mortadella, and a single layer for provolone. I would like to see less ham and more of a mix of meats but I'm not whining, as it was good ham and this was a very delicious sandwich. Old-time place with a few tables and a lot of signs. In addition to sandwiches and chips and drinks, they sell fishing supplies and live bait. Big points for longevity: 23 years, same owner. Because of the pierogi and kielbasa signs, I asked if he is Polish and he said, yes: "I don't speak it but I cook it!" I didn't order pierogis but next time I will. Note that they offer then fried or the authentic way, sauteed with onions. I think I will get some of each.

Warm, attentive service without hovering...exactly what you want for a special night. We started with the fried calamari and shrimp cocktails. Calamari was golden, tender, zero rubbery pieces, and the shrimp cocktail was huge, fresh, and perfectly chilled. Already a win. For mains, we went all out: Ribeye Steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a great sear, Rack of Lamb that was tender and seasoned beautifully, Lobster Crab & Seafood Fra Diavolo with just the right kick, and the Crab & Shrimp Spinach Fettuccine was creamy, packed with seafood, and didn't skimp on the crab. Every plate came out hot and every bite was spot-on. Portions are generous, vibe is cozy but still feels special enough for a 50th, and they even helped us make the birthday moment memorable. No rushed tables, no attitudejust great food and genuine hospitality. If you're in Simpson or driving through, Frank's Place is worth the stop. We'll be back with more friends in tow. Thanks for making her 50th so perfect!

Past two times we've been there we went around 7 and they said they were "closed". It sucks because we travel 30 minutes to get here and my mother has a cane and on Mother's Day we were turned away even though we had a reservation (when we called the person must've been new because they said nothing about them closing early) and on Google (which is what my mother uses not every person uses Facebook) they still said 9. We obviously won't come again but the food is good!

We were disappointed but we figured we would make the best of it. For an appetizer, I ordered the seafood bisque. While it was inexpensive, I did not expect imitation crab and a lot of corn. I never had seafood bisque with corn. I had one piece of shrimp in it too. Overall, the soup had no flavor. My husband had Manhattan Clam Chowder. He said it was pretty good, but he kept coughing from the spices. Still, we were hoping the dinner would be good. I ordered the fried catfish, salad, and baked potato. The potato was cold and had a lot of sour cream and butter lopped on top. It should have been served on the side as it made the potato cold, and the potato was undercooked and seemed like it was microwaved rather than oven-baked. The butter on the potato was cold and I kept getting a mouthful of butter. My husband's potato was the same. I asked the waitress to reheat my potato, but it just didn't taste good. It was still hard. The catfish tasted like frozen haddock, and It tasted like it was out of a freezer bag. My husband had cabbage rolls. He said they weren't bad, but the sauce was just plain tomato sauce. My husband got up and asked for the check and handed his debit card to the waitress.. She told him that there was a fee for using a card. He asked if there was an ATM, but there was not. The cook took the card from the waitress and just swiped it. We saw no signs about a credit card fee being passed on to the customer. The only peasant part was Victoria, the waitress. She was kind and friendly. We will not be returning though. We felt like our Anniversary was ruined.
