Let me start by saying that I've gotten takeout from here many times and the food is always good. That said, my experience tonight wasn't great. Had two different waitresses and both weren't great. One was too busy with a big table to help the smaller tables and the other was too busy spending 10+ minutes talking to friends at one table. And then towards the end of our visit they were both too busy chatting at the bar. Food taste was decent. Dumpster fries had good flavor but were soggy because they sat too long. Pizza was ok but didn't seem like wood fired pizza and was light on the pulled pork. Willing to give this place another shot but won't go back if I have another experience like tonight. read more

We just can't get our timing right!! Always stealing away to the Waymart, off-season. We've HEARD, that they have an incredible outdoor grill setup...We've HEARD, that the Wrangler BBQ pit was custom made in Indiana...We've HEARD, that the cherry and applewood smoked meats are on display under their pavilion....But We've only been able to TASTE their winter options; an award-winning tray of Old Fashion square (sweeter sauce, two cheese blend), a toasted Cuban with seasoned gravy fries and a crock of French onion soup to boot. It really hit the spot as we split town for the Catskills, and began our journey with some NEPA non-negotiables. Guess we'll have to find our way back once the winter weather breaks. read more

I forgot to take pics of the food, but the bbq was good and plentiful. We shared a combo platter because we saw everyone with to go boxes. The pizzas are big too. I had heard about the Waymart Hotel for many years, but hadn't had a chance to come here until last summer. My wife and I joined our family for dinner and we ate outside in the covered patio in the back of the restaurant. We had potato pancakes to start and while they were a bit dark, they had great flavor and tasted really good with the classic apple sauce and sour cream. My wife had BBQ chicken and I had a brisket sandwich and both of our meals were tasty and very filling. It's a place to get a no-frills tasty meal in an area that doesn't have a lot of dining options and we'd come back here again. read more

This is a mixed review! We came to check out the bbq and both of us agreed that the dinners could have been delicious if they were served hot! They were not even warm! It seemed that the waitstaff could not keep up with the tables and the food wasn't getting served timely from the kitchen. The venue had a fun summertime vibe and the staff were nice enough. My brother and sister-in-law held their son's high school graduation at the hotel today. The two female waitresses were drinking on the job after refusing to serve guests from the bar "because no one was tipping them". The gratuity on this event was $750.00 and pre paid. I guess that wasn't enough. I would NEVER recommend holding an event there given the rude and unprofessional way these two people treated my brother and sister in law. I would give no stars! Staff were rude and dismissive! Kept saying we are busy! Open tables and they would not bus them. People left... we took an open table and cleaned it after waitress said OK ... whatever. Table was dirty and the staff walked by... people came in after and were given drinks and clams (clam night). The one server told the table next to us clams sold out. It was 5:15 and they opened at 4 and we waited 45 min. We left starving and irritated. Came at 1230 on a busy sunday. Girlfriend use to live in area so she came for the pizza and loved it still... sadly, not my type. American cheese, bland sauce and dough, and just aweful but she gave it 5 / 5 stars. Go figure. Now the bbq is amazing! Brisket is some the best I've ever had. Pulled pork amazing. This is a fun, hopping place. I had no idea it was here and so popular particularly with families. The bbq ribs were excellent. The brisket was average, a little too dry. Beans, baked potato and corn were great. The place is big enough that you can still enjoy your dining experience even if you did not bring your own little kids. We had high hopes for this place but we're very disappointed. Nice looking place but food was awful. Easier to say what was good, the beans coleslaw. Nothing was hot, cornbread was cold. Ribs were just ok, chicken was dry, pulled pork looked awful and didn't taste good and the brisket looked like strips of uncooked bacon. My potato was brown inside and the corn on the cob was inedible. Waitress was very nice and we only waited about 20 min to get our food. The pizza at the next table looked awful. First the waitress is clearly overworked and stressed out, you can tell by the way she slams your drinks down and barely breathes to say hello before "what are you having" came out of her mouth. 2nd my husband's food came out a good 20 min before the rest of our order so by the time my orders on the table he's done with dinner. First off, I do not review restaurants often. I need an out of this world experience OR a nightmare in order to take the time to review a restaurant on here. Sadly my first experience at Waymart was more of the latter. We had a 6:45pm Friday night reservation (after the woman on the phone told me I likely didn't need the reservation). We showed up right on time and we weren't seated until 7:10pm. The hostess told us they didn't save a table (and we weren't the only ones with reservations waiting to be seated). After finally getting a table, we waited nearly 10 minutes for the server to show up. It took so long that we gave food and drink orders when she finally did get to us. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and our poor server was literally running from table to table, and back & forth to the kitchen. They have tons of seating in the back but they didn't have the staffing to cover the normal outdoor service, let alone that extra area. Our skewered Old Bay shrimp appetizer was cold when it arrived, so we had the server take it back to reheat it. Once the actual food arrived, the orders were all botched. My girlfriend and I ordered BBQ chicken and pulled pork, and we got ribs and brisket instead (the server allowed us to take those home after she brought us the correct food). My brother's wings showed up after the rest of us were done eating (~20 mins+) after the first entree was served. The server comped those, which was nice. The whole fiasco seemingly took forever & there wasn't much of a way to order more drinks unless we walked to the bar ourselves. My beef (no pun intended) with this whole situation is not necessarily the poor experience, it's more-so the fact that the server is the one really hurting in this situation. I asked her straight up if they were understaffed and she reluctantly admitted they were. People everywhere seemed pissed off & this will directly impact tips (the server's pay). This falls on the manager / owner, who was clearly absent tonight as no one was walking around helping or asking about the experience. The food wasn't bad, but the whole experience certainly wasn't worth the hassle of driving to all the way out to Waymart to pay more than I would've in Scranton or Dickson City. read more

We have been going here twice a summer and occasionally during winter for years. It can get really crowded for bbq during summer and now being short staffed everywhere you go I am happy they are still here! Went for cruise night mid august 2022 and it was the best we've had so far! It was not super busy cause we were able to sit at bar outside then move to outside table. Two different combos, Mac n cheese. Wings, beers. Sure some years a potato is slightly underdone or u need to wait pretty long time for a refill or the check but our experience here either for just two or the whole family has always been good to great. read more

Came in this afternoon for an early lunch. Not sure what the other reviewers wrote, but for us New Yorker's this is one of the BEST restaurants around! Everything tasted fresh not frozen, the ribs were delicious with the meat falling off the bone. The pizza is yummy, yes not New York pizza, but again you are not in Ny so there is no comparison. However, the cheese on the pizza was melted to perfection! Dumpster fries are a must, such a messy yet tasty appetizer. Caitlin was our server and she was extremely sweet, helpful, attentive, offered awesome suggestions, and most importantly aimed to please her customers! She always had a smile on her face and did not mind that we were from out of town like we have experienced in other places. Felicia was another young lady who helped us as well, not only is her service impeccable but she is amazing with children! Talked and played with our daughter which allowed us a few minutes to enjoy to ourselves! Thank you for that! For a busy afternoon, there was no wait, and unlike every other restaurant in the nearby areas, the food does not take long at all! After you enjoy your delicious meal take a stroll on the property. Have been getting their sausage and pepper pizza for years. Have eaten at most pizza places in the valley to Old Forge, and put it up there. I personally think OF pizza is overrated. We've been going to the BBQ Pit for the past few years, and never disappoints. Can't speak to other items on the menu, but these two things are worth the trip. Just to cover what most people have commented on, the pizza is...different. No, it's not going to threaten any of the great pizza houses of New York, but it is tasty. Like Pizza Hut or Little Caesar's, I can see there being a time I might crave this American Cheese pizza. But the real star of this place is the BBQ. The beef brisket is tender and smokey and the sauce is well spiced. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was outrageously flavorful and she raved, bite after bite. After dinner and appetizers for 7 adults and 1 child, plus a tray of pizza, 8 beers and multiple sodas came to only $134, the Waymart Hotel & Wrangler's BBQ Pit gets an easy 5 star review. read more

HOWEVER. And this is a big however. This place shines in it's pizza. We've been getting it forever, ever since I was born and WOW it's delicious.
