There is no better piece of Americana than the Carwanna. I don't know how long it's been in existence....but everyone who is originally from Carbondale, PA knows this icon! It's greasy spoon meets small down Americana....and you can't go wrong if you like fries, burgers and hot dogs (but don't require much with ambiance:-)) The waitress brought our beverages in a can (no glasses)....but silverware was clean and the burger with Carwanna sauce was out of this world (as were the cheese fries I had). Take a tums if you're prone to indigestion...but don't miss this little classic:-)

They have the best food and the best staff. Diane is the best server I've ever had there. Will definitely be returning and requesting her!

Way too much sugar taste in the so called texas burger. It is sloppy and too hard to eat anyway. Not understanding the hype if this place.

When I heard they reopened, I knew I had to make the 3 hour drive to relive their amazing Texas burgers and dogs.

This place is back up for sale!! This was a great place…read morewith the old owners! We went there twice. First time was an awful experience, but had a good burger. The owner has a personality of a snail and so did the bartender. She was not friendly at all, actually the opposite. This place needs an owner like the old owners who talk to people and are friendly . That's the only way you can make money in this area in this kind of business if you have a bad owner and bad staff, even if you have good food, you're not going to make it and that's exactly what happened. And it's nowhere near worth the money they're asking for it. Because the business has been terrible we go by there every day and the most cars you see are maybe four in the parking lot. It's a shame if the owner had a better attitude and hired people who knew what they were doing this place can make some serious money. It's a shame because soon as they opened, people in town started talking about the bad attitude!! Oh and the menu is very small!!! Beer warm just not good all around. But mostly the owner and staff are not what a place like this needs. Hopefully the new owner will have a better attitude and higher bartenders that are actually friendly and can carry on a conversation more than what do you want like you're bothering them.!!! Good luck!!

But come in for the burgers. They're consistently juicy and perfectly done, seasoned well and weighing in at 8 oz. They also have a bar but I don't drink so I can't give any direction there. They have nightly specials, including wing night, burger night, bike night, and trivia night. As far as atmosphere, they have a few gaming machines, darts, and a pool table as well. The place is clean, although there is some equipment out in the open in the dining room left over from the previous owner that aren't being used. Service is good, but since the menu is sandwich-centric, you'll have to ask for silverware if you want it. Really, the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the menu is pretty much all bar food. It makes for a great stop for lunch, but if you're looking forward to a dinner platter, you won't find it here. What they do, they do it well.

As we went for looking for steak we decided to order both. The steak with butter sauce with fries was passable. The owner of this restaurant, who also owns Settlers Inn, The Dock and Ledges needs to get over to Carbondale to check out this location and make some improvements!

The General manager contacted me today asking "What was wrong with our chicken and fish dinners they weren't STEAK that's what was wrong. I asked my friends to drive a long way to meet me there for STEAK not chicken and fish which we were forced to eat as an alternative. We there for STEAK and should have been told when the reservations were made that they would not have any. Also our meals were rushed and served when we were less than half way through our overpriced $13.00 salads which we had to leave behind to eat our entrees. This is NOT a STEAK House by any stretch of the imagination, and I am embarrassed that I asked my friends to drive miles and miles to meet me there when a local diner would have been far superior.

The desserts are made by Chrissy and do not disappoint, though we had to take ours to go since we were so full. Warm, attentive service without hovering...exactly what you want for a special night. We started with the fried calamari and shrimp cocktails. Calamari was golden, tender, zero rubbery pieces, and the shrimp cocktail was huge, fresh, and perfectly chilled. Already a win. For mains, we went all out: Ribeye Steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a great sear, Rack of Lamb that was tender and seasoned beautifully, Lobster Crab & Seafood Fra Diavolo with just the right kick, and the Crab & Shrimp Spinach Fettuccine was creamy, packed with seafood, and didn't skimp on the crab. Every plate came out hot and every bite was spot-on. Portions are generous, vibe is cozy but still feels special enough for a 50th, and they even helped us make the birthday moment memorable. No rushed tables, no attitudejust great food and genuine hospitality. If you're in Simpson or driving through, Frank's Place is worth the stop. We'll be back with more friends in tow.
