This is our favorite breakfast spot near our place. It is a farm to table cafe serving breakfast and lunch, and in the past they have done dinner service as well. Plus they also do catering. Now that they are open again, they have revised their menu with new items plus keeping the old favorites. In addition to the regular menu, they also offer weekly specials. And let's not forget that they offer vegan, gluten and dairy free options including desserts. I highly recommend this place to anyone local or visiting from out of town. What a wonderful cafe smack dab in an area that one would never guess to find such vegan, gluten free and health conscious dishes. Although I felt that everything was a bit under-seasoned, nothing a lil sea salt couldn't fix. I like big bold flavors and appreciated how all of the natural ingredients marry so well together to create tasty food that doesn't leave you feeling weighed down. As a bonus the chefs in the kitchen were singing to the music and quite well I might add! The ambience is fair, overhead lights in the back room were turned all the way up, should be on dimmers; acoustics were horrible, we had to shout at each other to be heard. We waited 45 minutes for our soup and salad. The French onion soup was fair, very light tasting, salad was very small, dressing was negligible. Half hour later we got our entrees, Caesar salad, crab cakes and Salmon. The risotto was cold, the salmon was good, the maple syrup over powered the salmon though, corn was good. Nothing special about the salad, the crab cakes were delicious. Overall, not impressed, we won't be back. Too bad, it had promise. Went for the first time about a month ago and the food was excellent!! We asked if we could sit at the outside tables with our dog and they were very accommodating. We pulled off the highway for breakfast and had such a lovely meal on the front patio. Everything was home-made-fresh and delicious: from the berry smoothies to the very delicious egg options. This weekend my wife and I were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary while camping at Keen Lake. We are from Philadelphia so we were trying to explore the area for a place to eat. Yesterday we saw this place on Yelp and were deciding between a local brewery or this restaurant. I have been trying to lose weight and eat more healthy and convinced my wife to try here because the menu had so many fresh ingredients rather than gorge myself with fried foods at the brewery. Also the ratings were so high and Yelp never steers us wrong! We showed up on a Saturday night without thinking to make a reservation and they were fully booked, but they asked if we wanted to sit at the counter so we decided to stay. They happily made us a table setting and put candles in front of us and seemed happy we stayed even though they were SLAMMED. (Always a good sign!) Jess and Ron sure run a tight ship. They were hustling and smiling and making conversation even though they were getting their butts kicked with tables and orders. The food was so good we came back the next morning for breakfast. Their coffee is SOOO good (called Black Brass I think) we might go and buy some today at the local store. We are definitely coming back just to try their lunch next time read more

Update: this wonderful menu, staff. Added back room. Great menu selection - one of the most unusual, off-beat menus of anywhere in the area. Also lots of Gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian selections. We had breakfast and we shared the steel oatmeal with berries and brulee topping. YUM! I also had the day's special Apple French Toast bake (great comfort food) and my husband had french toast with strawberry and blueberry sauces. AND local maple syrup - which was a great surprise. Very nicely decorated inside. Even the sugar and stevia packs were organic. Everything about the menu was well thought out. We went tonight for the Valentines pre fixed dinner. We have been many times before and it continues to be outstanding. Tonight especially was amazing. From the vegan hearts of palm "mock "crab" cakes , perfect shrimp cocktail, the mawlkatawney and sweet potatoe and apple soup to the stuffed lobster entrees and desserts, every bite was heavenly! 5 stars isn't enough for this local gem . I only learned of The Mustard Seed this past week, thanks to my cousin who's heart resides in Waymart. This place definitely appealed to my love of local, organic, and fresh sustainable foods. I was quite surprised to find a place like this in a small town like Waymart. Having known Waymart since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I have always viewed it as a meat and potatoes kind of place. I'm proud to say that it seems to be changing. Either that or my views were skewed by Waymart friends and family who are strictly meat and potato people. (You know who you are, lol.) Ok so the food, that's why you're reading this, correct? The food was great and I mean that. The menu offered alot of unique dishes and you could tell that careful consideration is paid to quality ingredients. We were having brunch so the menu was a bit limited but by no means boring or unimaginative. To start with I had coffee. Coffee is coffee in most places and we only tend to notice if it's bad, but this actually got my attention. The coffee was smooth but not overpowering or bitter. A really good cup of coffee and organic sugar to boot. In fact, all of the beverages we sampled were very good. Fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit were the highlights for sure. Ok...ok.. on to actual food. So I don't ordinarily consider soup for brunch, but this caught my eye and I simply had to try it. Carrot and cabbage soup, what? Yes, and it was delectable. I never thought of carrots and cabbage as decadent, but that is how I describe this soup. It was like a warm hug on a cold day and had such a depth of flavor I find it hard to describe. Everyone at the table adored it, one of us even got a bowl to go. If you're reading this, you must try it. For my main course I had the breakfast flat bread pizza. It encompassed caramelized onion, kale, prosciutto, mozzarella cheese and a fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk on top. I really enjoyed it. The ingredients complimented each other and it told me that the people cooking my food truly understood the what they create. Very hard to find these days...Bravo! As for what the others in my party were eating I cannot personally comment as they opted for the sweeter type fare and I didn't sample. However, I can tell you they had the gluten free pancakes and berry french toast with "real honest to God maple syrup". They both said they loved what they had eaten. The only real negatives for me were the price and the portion. The prices seemed a tad high and the portions could have been bigger. I understand that maintaing a higher standard doesn't come cheap, especially using organic ingredients, I get it. However this isn't my first rodeo and our billl was $58 bucks. I will definitely return because by in large we all really enjoyed this place. I would definitely frequent more often if it was a bit cheaper or the portions were a bit larger. read more
