The food was absolutely delicious. Everything I could see looked wonderful too, and I look forward to trying more! I had a gluten free flatbread with garlic pistachio pesto, tatsoi, pear, veggie sausage, roast sweet potato, and we chose goat cheese. My husband had Shepherds pie which I also tried and was fantastic, and other people dining were raving about it as well. The flatbread really blew me away though, I could eat that every single day. The salad dressing was also really wonderful. The space was clean, good vibes, and great prices. This was a gem to find especially for my husband who is gluten-free. This place provided such a wonderful reprieve on our family's cross country road trip. We needed a meal outside of rest stop fair and have a family member with several food allergies so vegan is a safe bet for us. The food, ambience and staff were a delight and accommodating for our family with two children in tow. We had the tacos and flatbread and they were delicious - also grabbed several awesome baked good for the road! Of note, the freshly made juice was especially refreshing. I really like that Maximum Zen offers gluten free and vegan options. The service was fantastic and Donna was very personable and pleasant. The cupcake and carrot cake was absolutely delicious. I was really excited and thought I'd love the lamington because I'm coconut obsessed. However, I'm not sure why but the lamington had a coffee taste, which I didn't expect. This was a little disappointing. I am not a coffee drinker and don't enjoy the taste. I did try two bites to make sure I wasn't mistaken. The seating area and room is absolutely lovely and peaceful. I enjoyed the freshest, most delicious meal here. I tried the garden salad- beautiful, with several types of lettuce, beets, squash, apples, and homemade dressing. The presentation was lovely. The oyster mushroom tarte was delicate, and the puff pastry melted in the mouth. I also tried the chef's version of strawberry shortcake. Yum. My sweet tooth could not resist the Australian pumpkin cake, which was incredible. The owner/chef was very welcoming and chatted with me as she prepared my meal. This was a great experience. We are so excited that we found this place. Don't let vegan/vegetarian get in your way... you won't even miss the meat. We moved from the West Coast to North Eastern PA 2yrs ago and found ourselves having access to very little to zero options for healthy organic vegan/vegetarian restaurants within an hours drive. This is a small run cafe style business run by the owner/chef who prepares each dish fresh daily (hence the limited hours). Produced pulled from local organic farms and delicious recipes made with many options for gluten free. We were in Heaven. The food is excellent and did I mention baked goods?! Cakes, cookies and pastries. Everything we've tried is excellent. Wish we found this place 2yrs ago when she opened. The space is open, clean and simplistic but the food is top shelf and can compete with the best fine dining restaurants in the big cities. So if you're in the Scranton , Wilkes Barre area and want a healthy delicious option you won't be disappointed. The only downfall is that it's not open all day.
