I had no idea what to expect. Was it a factory? A cafe? Turns out...it is both! AND, not just coffee, but chocolate as well, two of my most favorite foods. We had excellent service from our barista, who offered us samples of the 100% dark chocolate (my favorite, I eat it wrapped in dates), and other. We ordered a decaf cappuccino and a spiced Mexican cocoa. Both were delicious. We did a self-guided tour and that was awesome. We purchased the decaf coffee beans and the 100% dark chocolate to take home. The peaceful ambiance of the inside was only made more intense when we walked outside and saw the row of gigantic pine trees overlooking the beautiful Pocono Mountains.

Given that it is Pennsylvania, there is an arbitrary limit on how much alcohol can be purchased per transaction. I knew this going in, and while it is a thing, it makes buying alcohol in stores like this somewhat frustrating. I asked the clerk behind the counter what the limit was, he told me, and I made one purchase of alcohol before getting my food, and I said to the other worker there "this is for a family member." So I made the purchase, took it out to my car, and then went to the bar area to order my food, I had one drink and an appetizer. I went back into the store to make another purchase of alcohol for a second family member, which had to be a separate purchase, and then had to make a third purchase for myself. Upon my third purchase, which is heavily annoying for everyone involved at this point, the clerk walks over attempting to intimidate me. He says "Are you planning on getting drunk tonight?" First of all, it's none of his business what customers do in their private time. Second, what if I was? Third, because of Pennsylvania's moronic liquor laws, I have to waste my time and the time of the clerk behind the counter. I said to store clerk "This is for my family. I already presented my ID, do you want to see it?" And I showed the worker my ID and he backed away. He was out of line and condescending, which was all frankly unnecessary. All of this is not a reflection on the food nor the service in the bar area. I mentioned that up top. But the clerk in the store area needs to mind his own business and respect the privacy of his customers.

The place was cold in winter, the decor inoffensive yet uninteresting, and the chairs flimsy metal affairs whose backs bent when sat in (for reference, I weigh less than 140 lbs). The tables were magnetic, beware of setting any delicate electronics on them. Because the tables and chairs were metal, they absorbed the cold atmosphere and were frostily uncomfortable to touch. There was an open soda fridge by the counter. Its buzzing was louder than the faint music, so much so that it was the predominant noise in the cafe. For all that, it's not even a cheap place to grab a cup of coffee. I left after a few sips of my coffee and a bite of the pastry I bought, leaving both behind. This was a five-minute impression, one I never intend to repeat. Two stars because the coffee was hot and it was drinkable, otherwise would be one.

I am extremely happy that I was able to find this Jenn. The service was absolutely amazing and the entire vibe of the spot was great. I love the fact that it was in a old firehouse. We are fresh off of a stay at the Mountaintop Lodge at Lake Naomi and already can't wait to return…read more My wife and I are big fans of B&B's so if the have a comfortable bed and a warm breakfast, it's hard for me to give them a poor review. We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the most visitor-focused B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in. It sounds obvious to say that, but it his place really puts your money to work to make you enjoy your stay.
