The perfect place to stop for ice cream or coffee in Hancock! Situated in the Hancock House Hotel,…read moreyou can use their walk up window from the parking lot or go inside the hotel to order some delicious and creative ice cream and coffee treats. They even have a cute seating area inside. We're not coffee drinkers but had to try their ice cream. Their weekend special was chocolate cream pie ice cream... basically blending a piece of chocolate cream pie into ice cream with your first topping free! And then, they give you whipped cream or sprinkles for free too! And this place is not ridiculously priced like your typical ice cream spot... see my pics for menu options! My little one got the weekend special with peanut butter cups mixed in and it was AHMAHZING! My hubby got vanilla ice cream with a Rice Krispie treat and strawberries mixed in and was equally delicious!! Next time I'm in the area, this will definitely be on my list of places to visit!

A lovely little cafe with a wonderful staff and the perfect menu. We stopped two days in a row…read moreduring our weekend in the Catskills. It seems like you could get almost everything you need right here. They offered sweet morning pastries, there was a selection of cakes and desserts to bring back to our accommodations for later, and they offered a cooked breakfast and lunch (and brunch!) menu. The coffee was great, and we took some beans home. If you live locally, I read that they also offer free used coffee grinds to take home to your garden. My favorite part of the cafe, is that the donut flavors rotate, making things very interesting. I absolutely loved my little lemon poppyseed donut, but when the warm cinnamon sugar ones came right out of the oven, they absolutely stole the show. The burger for lunch was delightful, and the quiche was quite lovely as well. Highly recommend stopping in, no matter the occasion you will leave feeling refreshed with a wonderful bite to eat.

The same way we can go to the most remote place in the boondocks- like Hancock, NY by the Delaware River and settle for (almost) anything that's open. As far as breakfast or lunch (in our case) is concerned, Maple Room in Hancock made the cut. Not for their 'fine dining' ingredients- but really, as the ONLY thing that was actually operating on a desolate and late Tuesday morning. The Maple Room is Hancock House Hotel's bar on the left side and dining room to the right. We chose the first. It has an all-around counter, an 'internet jukebox' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, booth seating and high-tops. We decided to pull-up at the bar. Seltzer in our drinks was fresh and so were the Fish & Chips basket my husband ordered and my Fried Fish Sandwich. Our server Sherry has been around a while- yet was quick. Maple Room feels dated. But the food was comforting and I was digging the Bryan Adams and Huey Lewis & The News music though.

We were told we would have to wait 15-20 min which we stated was find we would wait. Upon entering the small establishment it was not welcoming at all but we were hungry and didn't have anything at the place we were staying. I decided to go to the dollar store across from this establishment and as I was walking back to my car to leave the items I purchased, I see the owner speaking to their dad suggesting we eat outside in the back in the 50 degree or less weather. It was insultin, degrading and inhumane but most of all it was a racist experience. I will pray for this woman and let God lead her heart and cleanse her. It was so terrible to be made to feel this way especially for my children.
