Lunch on the deck on a blisteringly hot June day, but the gentle breeze made it a delight. The staff is gracious and appropriately attentive to render excellent service. They serve breakfast all day, so Meg had a Vegetable Omelet and I enjoyed a BLT my way, (Crisp bacon, American cheese, and plenty of mayo.) This is a good time to mention their himemade bread. Delicious, and you can take a loaf home if you wish. Meg said her Toasted Marshmallo Latte was delightful. My iced tea was exeĺlent. Whyy is that worth mentioning? Because far too many times in summer, too many places serve watered-down or over iced tea. Not at Butterfield's. Did I mention the Veggie Straws? You must try them. We are pet lovers and were hapy that there was a friendly Labradoodle on the deck with her attending humans. The food, drinks, service, and prices were all very good. So glad I got off the highway when I did. This will definitely make it into the roadtrip rotation. I drive this way quite often. Nice quant decor. Staff very nice without being annoying. Came around at the perfect pace to make sure we were good but not overly intrusive. Menu is small which is great, has the basics you need for a lovely breakfast. Wow! Unbelievable how much food you get. I ordered the gravy and biscuits, with potatoes, bacon, and fried eggs. When it comes to you, it's kinda like what we call in the south a scrambler, with everything in one bowl. It was so large I ate on that for breakfast, lunch, and finished it for dinner. I was very impressed with the service, our waitress was so busy, but never missed a beat to make sure our glasses stayed full, and that everything was good for us. Will be going back as soon as I come back to visit. On my way to Rochester and randomly decided to stop here for brunch. What a hidden gem! I had the loaded signature biscuits and gravy which was absolutely delicious and very filling. I was surprised how much food there in one plate. You definitely will not leave hungry just eating this! It was also super tasty and a had a nice blend of flavors. The coffee was ok. Our waitress was pleasant and super nice. My only suggestion for improvement was to maybe consider having more staff over the weekends? Was good yummy food but the French toast shouldn't be 12$ for two slices of toast keep in mind the fruit and bacon are all extra charges. Also the restaurant was empty and we waited over 15 minutes for French toast and a bagel sandwich we didn't have much time to eat as we were on a lunch break. No napkins at table and no extra napkins were provided and the waitress was too busy talking to her coworkers then coming and waiting on us then made a point to try and get a tip out of us even tho they only brought us our food. We were in the midst of a long car ride and wanted a place to eat that wasn't associated with a rest stop. We were not expecting such a cute little respite to relax and recharge! It was almost closing time but they told us it was no problem for our party of 4 to be seated and to order whatever we wanted, the kitchen would stay open. We weren't rushed at all and sat in the back garden enjoying the greenery. The food was delicious and everyone was so friendly. We learned that it was the one year anniversary of new ownership and chatted with them about their experience. You can tell how much they care which makes it so welcoming. Located in a small older building that may have been general store, at least 100 years old. Ordered ham, egg and cheese on a plain bagel and a coffee. Breakfast sandwich was very good. Great breakfast at Butterfields. My wife and I stopped by this morning with our motorcycle to have breakfast for the first time. Very clean and awesome cafe. Our food was excellent and I should have got a photo of my plate, but it looked so delicious I forgot to snap a pic. Our server Kory was awesome and very friendly. Make sure to stop by on Sundays to see her. We also had a grilled blueberry muffin that was sooo delicious!! We got to set outside on the deck that was a bonus. The owners were very nice as well. The reviews don't lie. The kitchen looks like a home kitchen, it's completely open and visible, and in front is the cash register aka a square machine. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant which came with a side salad. The croissant not only tasted fresh but I suspect it might have been baked in house. Who does that? Butterfields. The chicken salad has the perfect amount of vegetables in it, and there's a liberal portion given. 5 stars, will be back. I wrote the above portion three weeks ago and for three weeks I've been coming here either by myself or with crew members or to pick up lunches for the production. Butterfields is the type of restaurant you might decide over the weekend to drive up from NYC for 2.5-3 hours. It's that good. There is something about what George and his staff are doing in the kitchen that has a homely feel to it, but the homely feel of what I imagine it would be like if your family member was a celebrity chef. I'm not overselling it. Butterfields decided to take it one step further by now delivering to the resort we are filming 7-10 min away 30+ breakfast sandwiches and a pitcher of coffee. They were made on brioche breads which were OUTRAGEOUS. I wish every business I pick up breakfast for our prep crew would do this. But they don't so I'll enjoy butterfields as much as I can. I love this place. It's by far one of my favorite places I've ever eaten. If you're driving on Route 17 and seeing this, ITS NOT TOO LATE, unless it's Wednesday, and they are closed. They are open 8-3 every day except Wednesday when they use that day to prep. You must come eat here. It's worth a detour; it's worth being late. 5 beautiful stars. I sound crazy. This cafe is the cutest and the staff are very, very sweet. I love the mismatched mugs and cozy vibes. Everything I ate was delicious -- espeeeeeecially the carrot cake scone. Butterfields is an adorable hidden gem in deposit. After changing owners a few times and having some rough patches, they finally have new owners that have really shaped the place up. The food is delicious, good variety, and the coffee is great. Plus everyone is super nice and attentive when it comes to service. Only gripe would be the size of the space is still quite small, especially in winter when the outdoors aren't available, but overall such a great place that's worth the stop if you're passing through or in the area! read more

Just had lunch here and found Butterfields Cafe to be both quaint and charming. Although the menu was limited we were able to get a tasty and filling lunch. Husband has the ham,cheese and asparagus omelette with home fries and fresh biscuits. I had the pecan chicken salad on a toasted croissant with fresh fruit and a green salad. There were no onions in the chicken salad, which pleased me immensely. There were many antiques and interesting wreaths and old bird nests. This is a very nice place, very upscale food selections and prices. This is surprising when you look at the village where it is. A $20 bison burger may make sense in a resort town, college town or similar, but Deposit is basically a farming community.
