Selection. But No Ingredient For A Hot Toddy.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mercedes C.

To me and hubs, life is all about balance- we can do farm-to-table, top-of-the-line meal, drink coconut water, get a freshly pressed green juice or down a great hot chocolate like it's going out of fashion. The same way we can go to the most remote place in the boondocks- like Hancock, NY by the Delaware River and settle for (almost) anything that's open. As far as breakfast or lunch (in our case) is concerned, Maple Room in Hancock made the cut. Not for their 'fine dining' ingredients- but really, as the ONLY thing that was actually operating on a desolate and late Tuesday morning. The Maple Room is Hancock House Hotel's bar on the left side and dining room to the right. We chose the first. It has an all-around counter, an 'internet jukebox' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, booth seating and high-tops. We decided to pull-up at the bar. Seltzer in our drinks was fresh and so were the Fish & Chips basket my husband ordered and my Fried Fish Sandwich. Our server Sherry has been around a while- yet was quick. Maple Room feels dated. But the food was comforting and I was digging the Bryan Adams and Huey Lewis & The News music though.

Meatloaf, string beans, and salted potatoes

Absolutely fantastic friendly service. Large dining room, plenty of space for covid distancing. My husband had the onions soup. Very rich, sherry taste, dark caramelized onions. He loved it! We tried the meatloaf and the prime rib - both specials that day. Meatloaf was moist, had brown gravy, carrots in it, and a heavy cinnamon taste. It was too sweet for me, but my husband LOVED it. )and the serving was giant.) The prime rib was a generous piece, cooked perfectly. The string beans were the star of the plate - cooked with garlic. Yum! The salted potatoes were great too. Def has lots of leftovers. PA the special that night was nachos. We didn't have them. But saw them for another table. Wow, just wow! Biggest nachos I have ever seen. Piled high with everything you could imagine. If you like nachos, come here!

Best battered French fries I ever had! Had the burger which was delicious and juicy. Ordered it rare and it came back medium but was otherwise really good so I didn't complain. My date got the soup special which was potato bacon and was also nice but could have used salt, but since that was also be added at the table, no big deal. Place very clean, prices good and service very good. Did I mention how good the battered fries were???

Let's do the time warp again! I felt like I had stepped back in time -- in a good way -- when I ate at this restaurant. The menu choices were classics, like hamburgers, meatloaf sandwich, BLT, open-faced turkey thanksgiving day sandwich, clam chowder ... My wife's BLT came with home-made potato chips and my opened-faced turkey thanksgiving day sandwich came on home-made bread and had a side of real cranberry sauce. The bill was a time warp, too. Only $18.00 or so, with coffee, plus tip. Only a couple of miles off the highway, this was worth a stop.

Food was delicious, space is clean, and service was great. We had the jalapeños burger and Rueben and both were delicious.

They serve breakfast all day, so Meg had a Vegetable Omelet and I enjoyed a BLT my way, (Crisp bacon, American cheese, and plenty of mayo.) This is a good time to mention their himemade bread. Delicious, and you can take a loaf home if you wish. Meg said her Toasted Marshmallo Latte was delightful. My iced tea was exeĺlent. Whyy is that worth mentioning? Because far too many times in summer, too many places serve watered-down or over iced tea. Not at Butterfield's. Did I mention the Veggie Straws? You must try them. We are pet lovers and were hapy that there was a friendly Labradoodle on the deck with her attending humans. The food, drinks, service, and prices were all very good. I recommend Butterfield's to passers by, summer folks, and even to those who enjoy a road-trip for a meal like we do.

So glad I got off the highway when I did. This will definitely make it into the roadtrip rotation…read more I drive this way quite often. Nice quant decor. Staff very nice without being annoying. Came around at the perfect pace to make sure we were good but not overly intrusive. Menu is small which is great, has the basics you need for a lovely breakfast. Food came out quickly and was cooked just right. Very clean tasting. My eggs were perfect consistency and while the omelet resembled more of a crepe than an omelet it was still delicious.

The exterior is misleading & easy to pass by if you're not in the know - don't let it fool you! Breakfast is only served on weekends between 8 AM & 1 PM & we just happened to be there. Service was extra warm & welcoming - we had our pup with us & it was a not so great weekend weather wise & while we offered to order & sit outside at a table as to not disrupt other diners, they managed to put us in their back room so no one had to eat out in the cold (Pepper can't write her own review, but she says thank you, two paws up!) While the menu is small, one item is better than the next & you can't go wrong no matter what you choose! Prices are reasonable for everything you get & in today's economy, it's a rare find! The apple pancakes were to die for & honestly, the biggest pancakes I've ever seen! Fresh biscuits with maple butter (YUM!) Don't pass up on the extra creamy & delicious chocolate milk! Seriously - can I get an IV drip of that? This place is the embodiment of farm to table (obviously). Zero frills, but full authenticity of a working farm. Wonderful place & wonderful people. They have lots of their goods for sale too, so you can take Buck Hill Farm home with you! We bought their delicious bourbon maple syrup, fresh herbal tea, hot sauce, & took some ribs back to the house to grill for Father's Day! Plenty of full & happy bellies even after leaving the farm. After breakfast, swing by the chicken coop & thank the ladies for the delicious eggs! LOL We hope to visit again next time we are in the area!

Catskills Coffee Lodge - SEC

Catskills Coffee Lodge

Sunday 11/23/25 I've…read morebeen on Yelp for many years. I don't remember ever writing a review, but the 'Catskills Coffee Lodge' showed me what dedication is all about. I had to share it with all of you. My husband and I were driving home via route 17 after a weekend in Syracuse; we wanted to stop for a break at the 1/2 way point from our home. We were on Route 17 eastbound and I looked up where we could get coffee - 'The Catskills Coffee Lodge' came up and was only a few exits away. We got off at exit 94. It was directly off the highway - easy off route17 and easy on- perfect. This quaint coffee house was immaculate, well thought out, and accommodating. It serves all types of coffee, homemade sweet treats, as well as simple fresh/warm and cold meals. You can eat there or get it 'to go'. I ordered a customized cold brew coffee. It was perfect. My husband got a regular coffee as well as a delicious, freshly made, black bean egg wrap. The young woman Jess, along with her sister Jeanine are the owners of the 'Catskill Coffee Lodge'. Jess made my coffee (I didn't know that she was the owner at that time) but she was training a new employee on how to manage the coffee ordering station. Jess was patient and kind to her employee and made the young girl comfortable. It was nice to see that dynamic. I was so impressed with this beautiful, little place. The sisters - Jess who runs the front end, assisting customers, and Jeanine who is in the back making fresh delicious home-made food have a shared dream. One can see how much effort they've put into starting something dear to their hearts - may this business continue to grow. When I experience something like this, I feel it's important to spread the word. These young women have a gift to share. If you're traveling on Route 17 East, near exit 94 please visit the 'Catskill Coffee Lodge' ~ it will warm your heart.

This is one of the most tranquil and relaxing coffee shops I've ever been too. The staff is great, there's only a couple young girls working inside, who me made conversation with, and they told us they were in college and working at the shop part time. The shop offers a variety of coffee's and pastries, you can sit inside to enjoy your snacks while listening to the water crashing from the creek, or enjoy your coffee on the way. This has always been a spot we stop at during our week that we spend up here in the mountains.
