I had an enjoyable lunch here! We decided to give it a try on our trip upstate. Everyone was really friendly and nice. I ordered a turkey club and my friend got a Taylor ham, egg and cheese wrap. My turkey club was perfectly done, on Krispy whole wheat toast and the perfect amount of sliced turkey. My friend really enjoyed his ham egg and cheese wrap, which was cheesy, gooey and delicious. The best part were the bakery cookies I found at the counter that were really sweet and tasty with chunks of chocolate. This will definitely be a stop on my next road trip. read more

In town for a family reunion and second time having breakfast and the breakfast was delicious! Three of us had full breakfast with a side of Hash, coffee and a OJ! Prices were so reasonable compared to diner prices around the lower hudson valley! Full breakfast for 3 was 38 dollars! I stopped at Circle E Diner with some friends during a road trip across Upstate New York. We saw there were not too many options along the highway and we didn't want to delay our trip so much so we were delighted to see this appear on the map and just off the highway too. When we pulled up, it had that classic vintage upstate diner look in a small town. Seemed like half of this tiny town were all here inside the restaurant when we pulled up as the parking lot was pretty full, and inside most of the tables were taken. When we walked in, we were a bit confused on what to do since there was no one taking us to a seat or anything and eventually after a few min waiting someone was like "hey go sit over there" and then brought us out a few menus. The staff were not the friendliest with us, although it looked like they had a great relationship with the locals so it might just be that they are not to used to out of towners. Anyways, we were given the menu and your typical American fare. I ordered a fried cod basket because I was craving some fish for some reason. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks to share. Both my meal and the mozzarella sticks were definitely just frozen out of a bag and re-fried in house. They did not taste fresh at all, and had the very angular/flat appearance that those mass produced frozen foods have. My friends thought similar of their food although mine was definitely the biggest offender. All that being said, it wasn't too bad, just very mediocre. But, when you're making that trip, and you're greeting hungry, I'd say this is a decent place to stop. read more

I try to eat local. I go out of my way to support local diners etc. Circle E Diner was a big disappointment and a waste of my money and effort. Place was rundown, staff just making do, the sandwich was a sloppy mess with awful fatty meat- basically inedible. Even the fountain soda tasted stale. This place is not worth the effort because it seems like they don't make an effort. Also, I wish I had noticed the 11 verified health code violations in their listing. Sorry. Drive on. read more

An old-school little homey dive-ner in Hancock, a town that doesn't have much else in the way of food (brand name or otherwise) so a worthy stop if you're in town at mealtime. Like an NJ diner, they have a variety of foods from breakfast to dinner, nothing very expensive, and the quality what you'd expect for the price. I want to say I had something with eggs (chef's choice, turned out to be over easy), side of potatoes, maybe some meat in there (probably Taylor ham?). Standard diner breakfast fare, standard taste for me. Pleasant little place that reminds me of NJ, maybe a bit too cramped to really feel like a diner, but in the moment I think we made the right choice to stop here for a tour around town. read more

First time, but definitely not the last! My son and I headed to Hancock from Sullivan County on Father's Day to see what if what I heard about this little town was true - well it was, and then some. The town itself was what I remember towns being like in the 60's and 70's - unhurried, friendly, safe and welcoming. We stopped in at the Circle E Diner for lunch, and wow! The restaurant itself was very clean, and full of local residents just having a good time over lunch. We were greeted by an extremely nice pair of hostesses who pointed out the specials on the board and were absolutely delightful to speak with. When the food came, quickly I might add, it was out of this world. Good home cooking done by someone who cares about what they serve - absolute 10 start rating. I tried something I had never heard of on the special board, "Philly Cheese Teak Tortellini" - unbelievably good! I highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't know what to order. We finished with some delicious pie and left the establishment, making plans for a return in the near future. Although we are not that far away, it seemed like a trip to an almost forgotten time that I had only told my son about. Now he got to experience how things were when I was a younger man, and have a great Father's Day with dad. Cute diner - our b&b host recommended it for breakfast. It's an old school diner with typical breakfast fare. It was clean and food was decent. My omelette was filled with veggies and ham. The home fries were not really fried - I like a good crust on mine. Other folks said their food was good. Took my neighbor on a motorcycle ride up to Hancock NY to find out about the NEBRD trail. Because I enjoy eating, that is also one of the reasons for my travels. base on other people's reviews, I decided to give this place a shot. the place wasn't busy when we arrived, and the waitress just told us that we could choose one of the booths that was available to sit. a few mins. later she approached us with menues and asked if we wanted anything to drink. be forewarn, this is only a pepsi affilated diner. no coke or sprite. just pepsi and sierra mist. the waitress was friendly enough when my friend was joking with her. I had the turkey club which was good. the only issue I had with the place was that some of the bench seats were torn up. we're not talking about a little tear. there was a couple that came in after us and the couple had to sit next to each other because the opposite bench was torn up. they could've at least duct taped it! read more

I like this place. But I came early in the day (7:30 am) recently and have to say it was very lackadaisical service. Slow. The waitress was busy discussing personal things with her friends as they stopped by. They were out of things too (as in breakfast meats). I had pancakes and they were ok. What I wanted was poached eggs and bacon. But they were out of bacon, so I had to adjust. I'll stop here again but not early in the am. I think they are too busy catching up on "current events", by which I mean whatever happened last night etc. Taking personal calls. Customers walk into the kitchen to say hello. I won't be back before lunch time. Let them get the personal things out of the way so they can focus on customers and food. Loosing a star because it just was not as good as when Ive been after 11 am. And a diner should be a place you can "count on". Parking was easy for me this time of day, but it has been a challenge later in the day, so its "hit or miss" in a sense. Worth it if you are in the area. Just be mindful early in the day. read more

i had a very uncomfortable experience in the diner last Saturday, July 25th. My daughter and I had breakfast. We were in a hurry and had asked our server how long it would take to get our food. An EXTREMELY rude lady screamed at us from a distance, saying they would not slip order even though I had not requested that. When I went to the bathroom, she stared aggressively at my 11-year old daughter. We were the only non-whites in the restaurant.
