The curb appeal is lacking. No sign on the door and we walked into an ugly, empty closed box of a room. A young woman came out immediately and said "we have no tables bc I'm very backed up. And did you guys know it's cash only?" Turned and started cashing out a customer. A neighbor recommended the food and I hear it's quite good but good gravy, if their service is always so useless I don't know how they'd stay in business. All she needed to say was "I think it could be about an xxx minute wait. And if you need cash, there is a Wayne Bank 2 minutes down the road to the right." Having grown up in northeast pa with very few dining options we always looked forward to going to the villa for pizza and found over time the dinner dishes were very good as well. We have been going here for over 40 years! We don't live in the area anymore but happened to be there today and went for lunch. The pizza was awesome! The best pizza I've ever had in my life. End of story. Plus I currently live in NYC so I've had some supposedly amazing pizza, and let me tell you, nothing comes close to the pizza from Villa Como. This is a tiny hole in the wall kinda restaurant, if you don't know it exists it'd be nearly impossible to find. But once you know its there there's no going back. People wait hours for pizza and they wait because they know its worth it. I brought family here when they visited from overseas and they were just as blown away by the pizza as we knew they would be. Best pizza in the area. Ask for it well done or its just too doughy. I wish the took a medium size amount of dough for a large pie, the crust is a little much. Peperoni, Sausage and Meatball are legit and there sauce has good flavor. Its 5 stars compared to Little Italy 2 in Hancock. 3 stars compared to NY or Philly pizza. read more

5-star ratings are subjective when it comes to pizza. I have had pizza from all over the world, each was different and good in it's own way (except airport and cafeteria pizza). Growing up in Long Island NY, I also grew up with some of the best pizza and Italian food in the world (in this New Yorkers opinion), so when I have pizza it is ALWAYS in comparison to what I loved growing up. From the previous reviews I can tell the reviewers also grew up with and loved Villa Como as I loved and grew up with Long Island pizza. So, for that reason I also give it a 5-star rating, because as good as the pizza was, I can also tell there's more to this place than pizza. That, and pizza is one of the toughest things to rate. Everyone has a "favorite", but I believe nobody can really claim any pizza is "the best". So, with that I can say the pizza was excellent even compared to my first love of NY pizza! The salad is on par with any Italian/Pizza place - which is simply iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes - however the server did warn that the salad was basic. So that was cool. Also, the server also advised us to get a 2-liter of Pepsi rather than pay $2 each for two fountain sodas. That was cool too! Service was great overall, and not just because of those two things. The facility is an old lake house that seems to me to have been some sort of old summer resort or something popular back in the 30's-40's. Nonetheless it is a neat place with a lot of character and fun to eat at. Be sure to check out the spooky dancehall type 2nd floor on the way to the bathrooms. I think Ghost Hunters should do a show there :-) Villa Como should also get a ton of credit because it is literally in the middle of Pennsylvania cow country on a mountain lake. I didn't see much of anything else around on the way there (from Deposit NY), so it's pretty awesome that the surely one pizza place out there is top notch. read more

Went in about 5pm and sat at a table. Apparently the wrong table because the waitress was very upset we sat ourselves or maybe it was the table we picked. She said "well I guess you can sit wherever you want." Turned and walked away. There was no sign saying wait to be seated. Never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. As a kid growing up in Northeast PA, our dining options were pretty limited. But the Villa Como was one of the consistently good places that I remembered. Going back to it years later, I am happy to report that the food is just as good as it was. Plus the same (original) owners are still around, which is really nice to see. The pizza here is great. It's a thin crust New York style pie, and is quite delicious (this area is known for having really good water, which in fact is almost the same water that NYC uses, and anyone who knows the stories about the NYC water and pizza would appreciate the fact that this place can use similar water but in a more natural state! :-) Also, the traditional Italian dishes are superb. I highly recommend the ziti or spaghetti. The service can be somewhat "relaxed" at times, so don't go here if you're in a hurry, but if you are willing to wait for some great cuisine, it's well worth a visit. Plus when you're done you can stroll across the street and check out beautiful Lake Como. read more

Great pizza and service combine to make a fabulous experience. All items are made to order, so it takes a little longer, but well worth the wait. Try the chicken marsala. Being from a major city, I was apprehensive working in such a small town with such limited dining options. I have grown to LOVE VC and the people that work there. If you're visiting on a Saturday night during the summer, I highly recommend ordering ahead of time to prevent disappointment from there being no more pizza dough! My favorite is the garlic, bacon, green pepper pizza! And don't forget to split a bottle of Valpolicella wine with friends. Debbie and Donna will treat you right. Went there a couple of months ago. I ordered pasta with vodka sauce and it was like this buttery white garlic sauce which didn't taste good. Then the waitress messed up my moms ordered and got her an eggplant sandwich instead of a veal. When my mom told her she gave her attitude saying that's what she ordered. My mom hates eggplant. Not only that but she forgot about are garlic bread. I told her that I really didn't like the vodka sauce and asked to speak with the manger which she replied "he's busy." So I go up to the counter and there she is telling the manager "there's trouble at this table." Then walks away after seeing me. I tell him how I never had this vodka sauce and he laughed at me saying "Are their's traditional?" And refused to take it back. Is this really how they treat customers? I just left it had the table because it was truly disgusting just like there customer service. read more

Villa Como is probably the best restaurant in the world...okay, I may be exaggerating, but getting pizza from Donna and crew is definitely one of my summer highlights. The food is amazing, the people even better. As Jeff wrote, the service is quite relaxed, so if you're expecting fast service then call ahead and they'll make your pizza for you before you come in.
