Love this diner. We went with family for dinner and I had the Yankee pot roast. It was so delicious and the mashed potatoes and gravy were awesome. The hot turkey sandwiches were piled high with turkey and gravy. The buffalo chicken salad looked so substantial and was delicious too. I also went back for breakfast during my weeklong visit and really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, cheese, and 2 sausage patties. Yummy! Let me start with the good things. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was decent and prices were very reasonable. It's definitely a place that has regulars bc the wait staff addressed people by name. My only negatives had to do with cleanliness. The menus were sticky and full of fingerprints which kind of grossed me out. I also noticed that the blinds had a layer of dust. I had their yankee bean soup. It was delicious, I had two. My friend had a half pound burger and the ingredients were all very fresh! With perfectly fried French fries. Also the entrance for the diner was filled with beautiful plants, will be coming back. And highly recommend. read more

Came to Janes for a late lunch, it's off the beaten path but let's just say worth the short drive! Greeted like family as first timers when stopping in. Our waitress JC was awesome, been there something like 16 years. Chicken finger sub cooked to order with all the dressings and toppings. Manhattan clam chowder was good, can't find that anywhere! Fries were okay. Turkey club traditional but still a favorite, onion rings were well done. But the pie, oh the PIE! While they may not all be handmade crusts (that would be an ungodly amount of work with how many flavors they offer) the filling was amazing and I do believe some crusts are still homemade. Will be back especially for pie, and sweets! The family like feel is definitely welcoming I look forward to future visits. read more

We went to breakfast here on Sunday morning! My husband had been here but it was a few years ago. The waitresses and all staff were very friendly! Everyone was greeted and the frequent customers were greeted by name. My husband had commented on how the inside looked different from his last visit. Solid food, but let me tell you about the clam chowder and the blueberry pie. The clam chowder didn't need to pretend, it's just GOOD, the necessary flavors, hits the spot! And the blueberry pie? Pros: Cute dinner with a great menu selection and customer service. Cons: food was ok. Corn-beef hash was burnt and salty. Bacon seems to have been triple fried which tasted like the oil. Sunny side up eggs w/bacon was too runny. French toast was good maybe get that instead and a side of eggs. Coffee was horrible very watery. I visited the diner for the first time with some friends this past Monday. The price is excellent, and is maybe even the best in terms of breakfast food in the area. The portions were perfect, as was the taste of everything. I had two sunny side up eggs with corn beef hash and rye toast. I thought everything was great! We were traveling to NYC and needed some grub, so turned to the Yelp map and up came Jane's Diner. Very local place, kind of in the middle of nowhere, which gave it even more character. Typical diner, you walk in and it's quite tiny and people greet you as if they were your family members. The food was great! I find it hard to have bad diner food.. anywho, the prices were what wowed me. So incredibly cheap, like ridiculously cheap. For my boyfriend and myself 3 meals total it was only $15 and my friends only $5. I mean you can't beat that. read more

My husband and I have stopped here a few times after church on Sundays. Usually the food is good and service friendly though not what I'd call top notch by any means. That said, our visit last Sunday has assured that I will never go back again. After finishing my meal I went to use the ladies room. As I entered there was one of the waitresses in there cleaning the toilet. I apologized for disturbing her and she said it was fine because she was done. She pulled the toilet brush from the toilet, placed it in the receptacle, grabbed the bottle of cleaner and walked out to continue serving. She never washed her hands and went right back to waiting tables. Why would a waitress be clean ya toilet mid shift anyway? So gross but the fact that she didn't even wash her hands . They were busy (it was right after church) but they cheerfully seated us all (15!) and were prompt with drink refills. A lot of food for your money! Went on a Sunday morning and it was packed, but we were seated immediately. Service was friendly and fast and the food was delicious! I ordered the corn beef hash and scrambled eggs which automatically comes with home fries and toast (and coffee!). Everything was cooked to perfection and nothing was even very greasy! I also got a hot chocolate (which was maybe a little too sweet but still good) and a single blueberry pancake which I ended up having to take to-go because they gave me so much food! But I tried a few bites before putting it in the to-go box and it was amazing! I wanted to eat the whole thing then and there but my stomach wouldn't let me. Probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had! All in all, my dad and I had a delicious breakfast for just under $12, which is hard to beat! Jane's is a nice little diner with friendly folks, dirt-cheap prices, and enormous portions. Located near Sandy Beach Park on Conklin Ave., it's a little tough to see from the road so sloooow down once you cross over the railroad bridge coming from Southside Bingo into Conklin and keep your eyes peeled for the restaurant off to your left about a quarter-mile up. I ordered a breakfast special that included two pancakes, two eggs, bacon, and coffee for a mere $4.99, and my wife went with the Three Egg special which included bacon, home fries, and coffee for only $3.99. The pancakes were big as my head and pretty tasty, and the eggs were cooked perfectly to order. I must say I've had better bacon, but can't complain too much. One minor concern was that my wife's silverware was a bit on the sticky side, and there were a number of flies buzzing around inside the restaurant...so the level of cleanliness is a little debatable. I am proud to report, however, that the men's restroom was immaculate--certainly a rarity in this day and age. Service was very quick and delivered in the no-nonsense fashion that I have grown to appreciate at diners such as these. All in all, if you're looking for a good, cheap breakfast, Jane's will definitely do the trick. read more

I really enjoyed our breakfast here. Good food, generous portions, low prices. My scrambled eggs came with several strips of bacon and a toasted English muffin, served on a bed of home fries. All perfectly cooked. My husband said his omelet was very good. This is a sunny, home-like place decorated with Victorian prints, pictures of Greece, and a small aquarium.
