Had a great breakfast taking my family to the Park Diner. The staff and cooks there are awesome and well trained. Food came out quickly and looked perfectly cooked to order. We enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches (2 ham and one sausage) and my sister's fruit plate looked and tasted amazing. I snuck a couple of bites of fruit since she had so much to take home. As a new resident in the Binghamton area, I've been making my way to all the local diners (none have disappointed yet!). Stopped in here on a Saturday for lunch and found it to be busy, but the staff was handling it no problem. Atmosphere is super cool, and it feels like what a Frisch's Big Boy might have been in their hay day. Plus, you can see out over the river at certain points in the dining room! I had the fish sandwich with fries and a side of coleslaw. The portion of fish on the sandwich was generous, as was the coleslaw! So, for the price, that was great. Was it the best sandwich I'd ever had? No, but it was a great diner fish sandwich, and that's all it needs to be! The slaw was great, as were the fries. Overall, I'd definitely eat here again! I'm looking forward to trying something from their breakfast menu next! 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back. Great local diner! read more

The Park Diner has been an iconic Binghamton restaurant for as long as I can recall. That said, I've eaten there as a kid with my older brothers, as a teen on dates, as a wild young man eating greasey food after a night on the town with his buddies, and as an adult having a meal with his own family. It's truly a multi-purpose eatery with a huge menu. My wife had ti kill some time in town the other day, around lunch time, so we decided on lunch at the "Park." I hadn't eaten there in a few years. The place is not what it used to be. Stall were all courteous and we were seated immediately. We were offered drinks, but had to ask for water. We ordered a burger, and a BLT, both with mayo. Meg's burger cooked as ordered, my bacon was nice and crisp. Both sandwiches were dry as a desert, and neither was flavorful. My BLT had a tiny patch of lettuce, and and the bacon was mostly beside the sandwich, which came on two slices of of thin white toast. I was disappointed because the pricing lead me to believe the quality and portions would be...well, more. I did order a drink up front. It was hot tea with lemon. The server brought it after my meal was over, and the water had cooled enough so that the tea bag barely gave up any flavor. Would I recommend Park Diner? Sure. If you're on lunch and in a hurry, and just want to fill the hole. However, I did see some Binghamton bigwigs having lunch, so maybe one should give it a shot. read more

We don't live anywhere near here, but we've been house hunting out of state and this works out as a perfect stopping off point. We've been there pretty much every Friday for the last few months, and it's been great. Food is tasty, prices are reasonable, and the wait staff is fantastic. Came here while on a road trip with friends and family. As we're heading up north from NYC we had to stop at a diner to fuel up. This place definitely did not disappoint. We had amazing service to begin with the host and the waitresses were so welcoming and kind. They helped us build our own breakfast. Before I get to the food, I just really need to point a few things out that round out an overall experience. The family that owns this place is absolutely wonderful. While not all staff that works here is related, you can be sure if you have been here more than once, you may have been served by a family member. You know how you'll know? They're great people, super nice, and professional. Also, this place is extremely charming. Some reviewers say it needs an update on this or that or another thing. Well, unless you're offering up an estimate and you're a contractor, stick to your day job. For one thing, Park Diner has kept all the things that made it charming. Updating your look just to satisfy haters is not a good business move, and I'm glad they didn't listen to the boo birds on that one. Finally, the view of the river really is fantastic. Now for the reason you go to a place ... the food. You will wait for a table, and as charming as the place is, the food is what makes the wait worth it. Standard diner fare, good portions, and great service. Any of the omelettes are great, and the side potatoes are awesome. The coffee is good enough to drink black, and they are good about refilling. One thing I notice a lack of in the reviews of this place are the options for dinner. Think about it ... they have wine and beer at a super fair price. They have fresh sandwiches, fish, a couple of Greek options, steak, and daily specials. Why not eat dinner here, have a couple of glasses of wine or bottles of beer, and go home full and happy? If you can get a table by that view then consider yourself lucky because you, customer, are lucky af. Service: I'd have to say the service here was alright. The waitress who served us on our short visit served us our drinks and food in a timely manner so she was pretty cool. Food: I tried (I think?) the Hawaiian burger and the calamari. The Hawaiian burger was pretty tasty. The slightly sweet pineapple tasted well with the savory chicken. I also liked how the burger came with a good amount of fries. Hey, I eat a lot so the more the merrier my stomach and I will be. I'd say the calamari was alright. The quantity they gave was a lot, but it wasn't really flavorful even with the sauce. Super unsafe COVID-wise. No one wears masks and we were seated in a dining area with a man who was opening coughing without covering his mouth. This wasn't like an occasional cough or old person cough - this was chronic. The man was ill. We finally left because it was so unsafe. Very busy with a lot of locals, so I assumed it would be pretty good. Our waitress was nice and came to the table pretty quickly. Food took a long time to come out but everything was good and homemade. Silverware wasn't very clean but we wiped it off. A couple of the menu items weren't available. This is my first time in Binghamton. I am helping my sister find an apartment here and after driving around all day we finally needed to eat something! We asked the last landlord for a good place to eat and he was absolutely no help so we just drove arpund until we found the diner with not one parking lot but two, and both full of cars! This place has to be good, right? Diners are a great place to stop for good food...this dinner has this and then some. The view was awe inspiring and the hot chocolate was some of the best I ever had. The chicken and orzo soup was also so good my sister almost stole it from me. She got the hawiian bbq chicken sandwich and loved it, the onion rings were very good too. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccoli. My meal was average. The only downside of the meal was very mushy broccoli. Oh well...we can't all be perfect :). Overall...I say if your in the area its a must go. read more

After heading to the Village Diner only to find that they were on vacation, my husband and I headed to the Park Diner out of a nostalgic desperation for our years at BU undergrad only to have our hope and dreams dashed. Breakfast consisted of your typical diner fare minus any of the interesting little extras that can be found at other local establishments like variations on eggs Benedict, etc. I settled on the Greek omelette, an omelette including spinach, feta, And "Greek herbs." What I received was an extremely small omelette with one piece of feta, spinach, and onions. The omelette was over cooked. The home fries were of an interesting consistency, like mashed potatoes. Service was adequate. The river view is quite beautiful, but I would recommend The Village Diner in JC any day for a superior experience. read more

After an early morning of driving 3+ hours to Binghamton from NYC to surrender license plates on a Saturday (one of three places in all of NY state that are open!!), I was famished for something fierce as well as coffee to keep me alive for the drive back home. Good ole Yelp to the rescue and this place was one of the few highly rated diners close by. So off I went from the DMV. Upon entering I was quickly seated by a lovely hostess and put me near the windows that had a great view of the river. The atmosphere was very calm and homely and all the stress from the morning seemed to dissipate as I sat down and perused the menu. It was fairly empty though with maybe 3 or so groups sitting at tables and 2 gentlemen sitting at the counters. It was no wonder I saw a good amount of waiters and waitresses sitting around waiting for customers so perhaps it was an off peak time on a Saturday. I had a cute waitress quickly arrive at my table and my first request was coffee which she got for me quickly. From my first glance at the one page breakfast I immediately went for the Steak and Eggs.......steak - medium rare, eggs - over easy, toast - italian bread, and hash potatoes. I also added 4 strips of bacon. Food didn't take longer than 10 minutes before it was brought to me in all it's delicious glory. The steak was superbly done and well seasoned. I didn't even need the A1 sauce they gave me as there was just the right mix of seasoning and natural flavors. I engulfed it entirely within a matter of minutes. Next the eggs were great as well with the eggs runny just the way I like em. The toast was very lightly buttered and delicious. Hash potatoes.....meh, I don't particular care for them anywhere but I made quick work of them with ketchup. Overall, it was a great pit stop to a tiring morning of driving and 3 cups of coffee gave me the strength to trek back home. The final price of the meal came out to about $14 which was well worth it in my opinion. Great atmosphere with a view of the river, prompt service, and cute wait staff makes it a great place for any wary traveler to sit down for a rest and a quick bite. For me, the 4.6 rating I viewed on Google for the Park Diner isn't correct. I've been going to the Park Diner for many years. But I hadn't been since the Pandemic broke out in March 2020. It's very sad and unfortunate to report I gave only one star in this review. In my humble opinion, the Park Diner has gone down hill severely in both the quality and taste of the food plus it's decaying interior atmosphere. On a good note, the friendly hostess was covid-19 geared and promptly seated us at a table near the window per our request. I noticed that the windows and surrounding area didn't appeared to be well cleaned. On the table, sat a wire container holding a tilted Heinz ketchup bottle with a dirty cap and a small salt shaker, which we never touched considering the Pandemic. As I looked around, I noticed the overhead light fixtures were dusty and missing some light bulbs. It probably would have been a good idea to leave right then but our hunger was fierce... so unfortunately we stayed. Our server was pleasant (yay) and mechanically went through the motions to get our order. The wait time for our food and drinks was minimal but unfortunately the Belgium waffle I ordered was unevenly cooked, flat not fluffy and definitely not the usual size a Belgium waffle should be and the texture was almost rubbery, difficult to cut into pieces and the taste was really lacking and blah. My friends meal was also poor and said the breaded Pollock sandwich was dry and bland tasting. I tasted one of the french fries and it distinctly tasted freezer burnt. The coffee was very bitter and unsatisfactory. Even as hungry as we were, neither of us enjoyed our meals and couldn't eat more than a few bites. When our server came back with the check and asked how everything was, I spoke up honestly and said how disappointing the meal was. She sincerely apologized and offered to get us something different from the menu but we thought it best to just pay the check and leave. We won't be going back. read more

I love the Park Diner. It's easy, breezy and no nonsense. The food is great, the folks working there get to know you, and are always polite.....and the view is amazing. I recommend breakfast here, but my son and I often go for lunch as well. The wait staff are always friendly, attentive and kind to kids. You will find Greek dishes, traditional Italian and lots of great diner fare. I tend to get the gyro - which is always tasty. If you're looking for a fun, easy and welcoming place to bring your friends or family,this is ago is option.
