This is what you call a GREASY SPOON, in a good way!! An endangered species especially those mom and pop Diners like this. We were Looking for breakfast places in the area while passing through to the finger lakes. There were mostly cafes and bakeries open around 10ish and not much was open for breakfast especially on a Monday. The place is plain and decor is dated. Reminds me of the local diners growing up in the Queens NY area. Prices are great especially during these times! Eggs Benidict and home fries were just what I wanted and got, hot and fresh. I'd rate Rolando's Diner four and a half stars. After eating almost only snacks for the previous 48 hours, it was good to have a proper meal at Rolando's. I shared a booth with a few friends around noon on a weekday. The diner was fairly empty which was pretty surprising given how good the food and value were. I had a custom breakfast combo with home fries, pancakes, and eggs. Everything was perfect! This diner is as good as any that I've eaten at in NYC. Okay so let's get into it.. I went here because my usual breakfast place is closed on Monday and I had heard good things so I figured okay let's give it a try. Someone else described this place on here as a hole in the wall diner and I kind of get that. The appearance from outside walking in wasn't really nothing to brag about. Looked kind of run down and could use a little little cleaning. Once we got in it looked pretty good. The tables were clean the chairs were comfortable, I sat up at the counter and the wait staff was really friendly and the menu had your basic diner food on it, at some pretty good prices I might add. The breakfast itself was pretty good as well as other places I go they cook on the grill with oil and this place uses butter. Everything tastes better with butter. Actually my rule is everything tastes good deep fried but if you can't go there then just add some butter. . Now for the reason that I only gave it three stars. The first isn't really anything they can do but the hallway that leads down to the bathrooms is a rather tight squeeze. The bathrooms themselves are rather small and they didn't necessarily look dirty but a fresh coat of paint and some new caulk around the sink and stuff like that wouldn't cost that much and would greatly improve the experience. Maybe even some fresh flooring which wouldn't really cost that much because like I said it's a very small bathroom. The number one complaint that I have is the gentleman doing the cooking. He was wearing gloves which I guess is a good thing but it all depends on what you're doing while you have the gloves on. I mean if you're handling food yes a pair of gloves definitely gives the appearance of being a little more clean however if you're touching everything else around you including a cell phone and scratching your face and then getting back into the cooking then the gloves really don't make a big difference anymore. But aside from that like I said the food was really good and the service was excellent, the glove thing is just kind of my opinion... July 27 seemed surprised or at least gracious for an 8 dollar tip on a 12 dollar breakfast, but with a your welcome for every thank you, quiet, quick service, a full coffee and water the whole time, and a cup o joe to go, it was worth the measly 8 bucks. Cheap and tasty breakfast food with good service. I visit here often because it's located near my apartment and they never fail to surprise me with their fresh, warm and delicious food. I always get one french toast with an egg and sausage, and they go so good with hot sauce. I've also tried ham instead of sausage but it was little to salty for me and couldn't finish it. The only thing that bothers me from this place is that they provide margarin instead of butter for the toast, but I'm still giving them 5 stars because of their amazing food. This place is like a step back in time to the 70's: Wood panel walls, old school Formica tables and maroon pleather cushioned booths. (Sorry mom) I've been getting the gyro omelette with crispy home fries and rye toast for years. Probably my favorite breakfast spot to go to with friends or alone. You can sit up at the counter and watch your food being cooked or grab a booth. I try to avoid coming in when BU is in session since it gets a little packed on occasion. Very nice staff and owners. I was promptly greeted and seated at the counter since I was eating solo. The place was packed at the tables. I ordered 2 pancakes and 2 scrambled eggs. Bill came to $3.75. $3.75 are kidding me? Alright so normally I don't do this BUT after the way we got treated fuck that. So we decided to go to Rolandos for breakfast. Nothing new, we usually love the food and don't have an issue with the staff or food. But today we went and I seen the cook carrying my raw meat with his hands while touching all the other food with no gloves just wiping his hands on a filthy apron. So me being me; I politely ask for my food to be made with gloves because I just didn't like seeing it. The server then caught the worse attitude yelling that we'll be waiting an extra 20 mins for it. Whatever we ignore it. Then she started telling customers that she doesn't care how long we have to wait. Being mad rude everything else so I decided I don't even want the food any more. So we go to pay for the two plates that they did make and she got pissed off and proceded to tell us to "get the f*ck out and never come back "and how we came in acting like assholes because I simply asked for something to be remade with gloves. My opinion; it's not that serious. But the way we were treated and talked too let alone in front of a child is ridiculous all because I had asked for my food to be remade WITH gloves on. I've got multiple videos of her cursing at us and everything else. I will NEVER come back and I WOULD NEVER recommend anyone to go there. read more

Rolando's is a throwback and not much has changed here in many years- and that is especially true for the prices! Good old fashioned american breakfast with amazing prices and service. Weekend breakfast times will always be busy and there's reasons for that. The prices for decent, hot, fresh food are amazing. I've never had anything but breakfast there so i cant comment on the lunch menu. Breakfast for 4 people will almost always come in around 25 bucks including the tip! It's a great value and reminds me of the places my dad used to take me to as a kid back in the 70's. I think it's great. read more

Rolandos is super cheap but so is the quality of the food. One time I got fried eggs here that were literally green. This place is always packed so there is usually a wait (and sometimes it's pretty long). It fine for hungover brunch because you just need some greasy food but there are also so many other diners in Binghamton that have better food (and are cleaner). read more

This place is very very very cheap. I had an amazing meal for other 5 dollars. As a student, that is freaking music to my ears. The same meal would probably run you at least 15 dollars in the city. My go to dish is the Corn Beef Hash with 2 eggs and toast. Went on a Saturday morning at 11:30. We only waited 5 min to sit 9 people. Wait staff was amazing and quick to get whatever was needed. The food was outstanding and served hot and rather fast. pretty solid diner. my first experience here was 3 years ago when i went in the afternoon. the place was empty so i thought the place was struggling. well i started going here for breakfast i can now say that's clearly not the case! the few times i went the place has been almost full. the first time i went i got the texas hots. they were pretty good but nothing mind blowing. as far as lunch/dinner food the only other thing i've had was their fried chicken, which is actually really good but i know it's not homemade, i've had the same exact chicken at 2 other places locally that have since gone out of business. the chicken is pretty small but very flavorful. i got fries with it that were ok and the mac salad i got was also just ok. breakfast is where this place really shines. pancakes and french toast are both pretty good, they use nice thick bread for the FT. good home fries but the bacon they use could be a little better. the place has a nice cozy vibe to it and the waitresses are pretty friendly, which seems like it'd be a hard thing for them to pull off since they're always so busy! this place is cash only, so come prepared, but definitely come because this place is worth checking out read more

While normally we have no issues at Rolando's, with the new owners, it is not what it used to be. The staff was very rude and the cooks were unsanitary. One cook brought my girlfriends steak out from the back with his bare hands (no gloves), threw it on the stove, proceeded to touch someone's cooked french toast, put it on a plate, wiped his hands on his dirty apron and then touched my girlfriend's steak again. When asked to have the food remade with gloves, the waitress then got very upset and started cursing and telling both the cook and other staff members, "I dont give a fuck how long they have to wait". When we heard this, we left because it was unprofessional, especially in front of my 8 year old son. Even after being treated like this, we still paid for my son's meal and was proceeded to "get the fuck out and not come back" and was told to "call the president" about the the cook not wearing gloves and her attitude. They also do not wipe down tables. After a customer leaves, they pick up the dishes then sit new people down. With COVID, this is VERY concerning. We ended up wiping our own table down. With the new owners, it is very disappointing and upsetting how bad this Diner and it's staff have become. Will definitely NOT recommend for anyone to ever go here again! read more

This place is definitely a great place to calm your appetite in downtown Binghamton if you have a tiny wallet (or a lengthy hangover). But be warned - they do close rather early on the weekend. I came in on a Sunday around 1:40; close to closing time. I decided to order the eggs with sausage and toast with a cup of orange juice; the bill came out to around ten dollars if I remember correctly. The place wasn't too packed; the food took a bit of time coming out but I was with a party of six. If you are looking for beautiful decor and a soothing ambience, this isn't the place for you. This place is usually good for a quick breakfast meal and on your way in no time. I had to subtract two stars however; a few of the staff were rude to us as we walked in because we came in twenty minutes before closing time (2PM on Sundays). This is a bit understandable; I've worked in customer service before and despise those who come in five minutes before closing. However it's still your job to serve all equally and with respect. Another star because of the big flies and a bee buzzing around our table constantly while we were eating. Gross. I see myself coming back occassionally if I am in a hurry. read more
