The food is delicious and portions are above average. The owner/cook, John, is always friendly and you feel so welcome and appreciated. The daily specials are a good mix of classics. The soups are great and I never leave hungry. The decor is all old tin metal signs and memorabilia, and an old gas pump sits in the corner. We go there on average 3-4 times a week!! For Breakfast and/or lunch!! If you are looking for a salad, John makes an amazingly large Chef salad and also Greek salad. The prices are more than reasonable for the amount of food. November 3, 2021, the second day Rockin' Robin was open, I ate there. I'd been dining there for years with the previous ownership, and I was hot to see how it had changed. The menu was different, but being a breakfast and lunch restaurant, not all that much. The food and service that day was excellent, and the atmosphere was as homey and comfortable as it had always been. I gave it four stars because I felt the menu could expand to offer everything the previous owners had. It has, and it's all good. There is more Americana decoration on the walls, and the desserts are different but delicious. Since our first visit, we've resumed being frequent diners here, and have had all positive experiences. I strongly recommend a short drive to Hillcrest, NY for breakfast or lunch. The prices are user-friendly, the portions are generous, the service is excellent, and the parking a breeze. This used to be the Wonderful Red Robin Diner in Johnson City. Our Family would go to breakfast after church every Sunday. The atmosphere is not the same. It's just sad. The food doesn't taste the same because it's a different grill. Even the coffee is not as good as it used to be! And there is only one Food server who has the entire place to serve! read more

Unfortunately it's just not the same place since it moved. The helping size is big but the flavors are just bland and honestly boring. I'm guessing that's why you see mostly older crowd there. Usually just the cook and one other person in there but the service is friendly. The inside is nice since it's newly remodeled. So the good part was that service was great, prices low for portion size, but the food, that we got for take out, was not good. They still use Styrofoam and one of our meals burned through. The corned beef sandwich was tough and grissly, the meat was thickly sliced and not easy to eat and the grilled rye bread was extremely greasy. The french fries were good. Our second sandwich was a BBQ burger with lots of onions (the one that burned through the Styrofoam) was also very greasy and messy. We bought a hazelnut brownie for dessert. It was dry (as in not fresh) and had extremely sweet icing. Tossed it. Sorry Rockin' Robin....I'm not returning. read more
